Chapter 1343: Chapter 1343: Illogically Making a Mess of Things
Yanyan and Yueyue drove one car, Luo Qiao was with Xiao Rui and Xiao Yu, and Lu Yichen took Xiao Ye in another. The bumper cars constantly collided, and the arena was filled with laughter.
Next came the carousel, mystery house, rollercoaster—all kinds of activities until they grew tired and headed to the nearby snack stalls for some food and a little rest.
Luo Qiao took a damp towel they’d brought and helped them wipe their hands. "Drink more water. Look, your faces are all sweaty."
Xiao Ye nestled in Luo Qiao’s arms, holding a toy gun that Lu Yichen bought for him earlier. He gestured with it from time to time and muttered, "Mom, when I grow up, I’m going to be in the Liberation Army."
Luo Qiao chuckled and gave him a few sips of warm water, "Alright, our Xiao Ye sure is ambitious."
A nearby family who had just sat down heard Xiao Ye’s words and laughed.
The man in that family gave Xiao Ye a thumbs-up, while the woman arranged for the family’s children to sit down, pulling out snacks she’d brought with her and reminding her son and nephew to drink some water first.
Lu Yichen and the man struck up a conversation, during which he learned the man’s name was Xin Yongzhong and his wife was Wang Xiaoqin.
Just as the two families were chatting happily, a little boy ran into the rest area and waved backward. "Grandma, Dad, Mom, come sit over here."
His family gathered at a spot not far from Luo Qiao and her group.
Luo Qiao’s group had also brought plenty of snacks, and the kids had bought some small treats they liked from the stalls earlier. Now, they were chatting and laughing while eating.
Wang Xiaoqin took some shortbread she’d made from her stash and shared them with Luo Qiao’s kids, asking them to divide it among themselves. Luo Qiao offered some of the fruit her family had brought, and the children from both families quickly warmed up to each other, agreeing to play together later.
But just then, the little boy who ran in earlier said to his family, "I want to eat that shortbread too."
His mother looked a bit embarrassed and soothed him, "We’ll buy some for you after we leave the amusement park, okay?"
But the child wouldn’t listen, throwing a tantrum. "No, I want to eat it now, right now!"
The grandmother sitting nearby stood up and said, "Alright, stop crying. I’ll go ask for a piece for you. What’s the big deal?"
The daughter-in-law saw her mother-in-law heading over and reached out to stop her, but the elderly woman shot her a hostile look and continued toward Wang Xiaoqin. "Give me a piece of your shortbread for my grandson to try."
Wang Xiaoqin felt uncomfortable upon hearing this and instinctively refused, "Sorry, we didn’t bring much, and it’s barely enough for our own kids."
The grandmother clearly wasn’t expecting such direct rejection, and her expression soured. "Isn’t your bag still full of them? Geez, how stingy."
Now it wasn’t just Wang Xiaoqin who felt annoyed—her husband Xin Yongzhong piped up as well. "Madam, this is our family’s food. If you’re so generous, why not share something from your own stash instead?"
Angered by the response, the elderly woman, thinking her age entitled her to free rein, snapped back, "If it weren’t for my grandson wanting it, do you think I’d even be asking?"
Luo Qiao frowned and thought to herself, "What an audacious old woman. Asking for someone else’s food while acting like she’s entitled to it—how thoroughly unpleasant."
The daughter-in-law quickly stepped forward to apologize. "I’m really sorry. My son smelled the aroma and wanted to eat some. My mother-in-law just wanted to make the child happy. I’m terribly sorry."
Wang Xiaoqin glanced back at the kid, who was looking at them with eager eyes. Being a mother herself, she took two pieces from her bag and handed them to the younger woman. "Here, take them for the child."
The elderly woman, whether out of pride or sheer spite, muttered as she turned away, "Should’ve just handed them over earlier. Honestly."
The remark was quiet, but everyone heard it clearly. It made Wang Xiaoqin furious, and had it not been for Xin Yongzhong pulling her back, she probably would’ve gone over to argue.
Luo Qiao comforted her, "Let it go. We’re here to give the kids a good day out. Don’t let someone like her ruin your mood."
Wang Xiaoqin grumbled angrily, "What kind of person goes demanding food from others and still acts like they’re in the right?"
But after a moment of reflection, she decided not to dwell on it. After all, the outing was meant to be fun for the kids, and it wasn’t worth letting irrelevant people spoil things. With that, the matter was considered settled.
The two families agreed to head over to the trampoline and big slides later, and the kids kept enthusiastically brainstorming ways they could play.
Suddenly, a sharp cry rang out: "Xiao Bao, what’s wrong? Don’t scare Mommy!"
Luo Qiao’s group jumped in alarm and turned to look. The same family from earlier had descended into chaos, with three adults crowding around the little boy, yelling.
Luo Qiao quickly stood up, instructing Lu Yichen to keep an eye on the kids. Despite her annoyance with the elderly woman from earlier, she was a doctor and couldn’t ignore the situation.
When she got closer and examined the child’s condition, she realized he was having an allergic reaction. She urgently asked, "Stop crying—does your child have any allergies? This is extremely serious—he’s gone into anaphylactic shock! Hurry up and take him to the hospital!"
The man was the first to react. "My son Xiao Bao is allergic to peanuts."
The elderly woman quickly caught on and turned to shout at Wang Xiaoqin, "Were there peanuts in your shortbread?"
Wang Xiaoqin nodded. "Yes, I used peanuts."
The elderly woman, while urging her son to carry the child to the hospital, still managed to curse at Wang Xiaoqin. "You wretched woman, if anything happens to our Xiao Bao, I won’t let you off the hook!"
Luo Qiao initially intended to step in and help, but after hearing those words, she decided against it. People like that were insufferable regardless of the situation.
