Chapter 1281: Chapter 1281 Graduation, Return to the Country

After all, I have lived here for three years, and I have gotten used to many things; I still want to bring them back to China.

Finally, it is time to return to China. Although I have some reluctance to leave this small courtyard, my mood is extremely excited.

In the past few days, Luo Qiao has been immersed in the laboratory. She comes back every night, washes up, and just wants to rest. She has lost weight, and Rong Daniang is heartbroken for her. She prepares a supper for her every day and insists on watching her finish eating before she rests.

During this period, Emily and Kevin, treated by Luo Qiao, are now no different from normal people. Emily’s parents even came to Boston personally and specifically thanked Luo Qiao.

Only then did Luo Qiao realize that Emily’s family was not simple. Her father left a business card when he left and said that she could always come to him if she encountered any issues.

In mid-January, Luo Qiao completed the doctoral thesis defense at the Medical School, fulfilling her study-abroad mission on official assignment.

Before long, Professor Wilson had a deep talk with her, and the medical school authorities also sent someone wanting Luo Qiao to stay at the university, offering very generous terms. Even biopharmaceutical companies approached her, hoping she would join them with an attractive salary, but Luo Qiao politely refused all offers.

During this time, Qiao Hua and Wei Jun came back once; Wei Jun decided to stay here temporarily to help Qiao Hua develop the American market before making further plans.

Actually, there is another reason—Xia Shanmei is not willing to return to China for the time being. She has not yet moved on from her past, and she is frightened of encountering certain people back in China, so the Wei Jun family decided to stay for now.

Qiao Hua had already stated that he would stay here to manage the business of Yipin Overseas Company. Luo Qiao also gave them shares, but the contract specifies that these shares must be cashed out if they leave the company before retirement, and if they stayed until retirement, then the shares belong to the holders.

Wei Jun and Qiao Hua both agreed and were very motivated.

After arranging things at Yipin, Luo Qiao went to the stock market. After returning in the first lunar month, she put a lot of money into the stock market, which is probably worth tens of times more by now.

When the Shanghai Stock Exchange was established, Luo Qiao also instructed all her companies under her name to buy original shares with a large sum of money, which she sold off a few months later, earning a substantial profit.

In June this year, she instructed them to buy a large amount of stock again, but she plans to have them sold all at the end of next April. She vaguely remembered reading a report that the bull market that year lasted exactly one year, with an increase of nearly twelve-fold.

Luo Qiao also had her second brother buy her a considerable number, waiting to make a big impact when she returns to China.

After finishing the tasks here, Luo Qiao’s experimental project was also coming to an end. Emma and Steven were like clingy children these few days; as soon as Luo Qiao stepped out of the laboratory, they would immediately appear in front of her.

Until the end of January, on the 26th day of the twelfth lunar month, Luo Qiao completed her experiment and officially bid farewell to the teachers and fellow students in the laboratory. That evening, Luo Qiao invited all the laboratory staff to Jinyuan Garden for an authentic Chinese meal, marking a perfect end to her three years of study abroad.

On the next day, Luo Qiao’s two graduation theses were published at the same time, making her famous once again.

At this moment, they are making their final preparations, with the vegetables in the backyard shared between the families of Auntie Mary and Hannah, and all the furniture in the house covered with cloth.

The items that needed to be taken away were handled by Qiao Hua who arranged for shipping yesterday, leaving only the carry-on luggage.

Yanyan and Yueyue had said goodbye to their kindergarten friends and teachers a few days ago, and they gave away many Chinese snacks made by Rong Daniang, making some kids cry.

Auntie Mary’s family and Hannah’s family came early. Little Michael had agreed not to cry but still ended up crying, reluctant to leave his friend. Both neighboring families felt they had a very pleasant time with Luo Qiao’s family over the years and said they must visit when they come to America in the future.

After packing and getting in the car, Luo Qiao handed the keys to Xia Shanmei and asked her to come by and air out the house occasionally.

As soon as they turned out of the alley, she saw Emma and Steven waiting there. Luo Qiao’s eyes turned red immediately, and she got out of the car and hugged Emma tightly.

With tearful voice, Emma said, "Luo, my friend, I really don’t want to let you go, I will miss you, and I will wait for the day I can come to China to see you and enjoy all the Chinese delicacies."

Luo Qiao suddenly laughed, "Okay, I know you didn’t come to see me; you’re just craving our Chinese food."

Everyone laughed with tears in their eyes, holding back the sadness of parting, and said to each other, "Take care."

Emma watched the car drive away and suddenly burst into tears; Steven hugged her and said, "Darling, after some time, let’s travel to China together."

Emma, with tears in her voice, asked, "Really?"

Seeing her like this, Steven suddenly laughed, "Really, when have I ever lied to you? Don’t cry, your makeup is running."

This time, Emma was upset: "You despise me."

Steven turned and ran, with Emma chasing after him shouting. But as she ran, she slowed down, pouted, and said to Steven, "But I still can’t bear to leave Luo."

Steven took her hand and moved forward, feeling uneasy himself, "Come on, I’ll take you out for Chinese food today."

But the food-loving Emma shook her head, "No, I don’t want to go; I’m afraid I’ll miss her even more."

In Capital City, Lu Yichen left the office as soon as it was time, a faint smile on his face that seemed to quicken his stride.

Someone quietly discussed, "The director looks happy today, did something good happen?"

"I heard his wife is bringing the kids back home."

"Are they coming back for the New Year, or have they graduated?"

"Graduated. This time they are returning for good. The director’s good days are coming."

"Hahaha, the director’s hardship has turned to joy; he’s finally going to have his wife and children by his warm stove."

"I was wondering why the director was smiling these past few days; he seemed in such good spirits."

"His wife is coming back, of course, he is happy. It’s not just for a day or two, a month or two, but for three whole years. The director is definitely a good husband and a great man."

"That’s true, the director is very disciplined."

Meanwhile, Lu Yichen had already returned to the two-entry courtyard house. All the beddings in various rooms were aired and laid out. He even added a carpet and a dressing table with a mirror in his daughter’s room, knowing well that his daughter was growing up and becoming vain.

In his sons’ room, he had a small basketball hoop installed and bought basketballs, hoping they would use them to keep fit.

He also brought home two young puppies, perfect companions to grow up alongside his children, surely enhancing their bond.

He made arrangements in advance for Yanyan and Yueyue to return to the kindergarten they attended before, planning to send them to the preschool class after the New Year, and they would start first grade in the second half of next year.

Looking at the fully-prepared courtyard, he felt incredibly excited. Finally, no need to be apart anymore; he truly had enough of living alone.
