Chapter 1640: Chapter 1640
"What about this, Naiad? Remember anything?" Oceanus asked.
Oceanus and Thalassa tirelessly tried to stir memories within Celes' mind, presenting him with various accessories, rings, bracelets, earrings, and dresses, hoping to spark recognition.
But there was nothing for him to recall. The boy was clearly not who they believed him to be. His soul, though identical to Naiad's, did not influence Celes' thoughts in any way.
Although he felt a strange, nostalgic sensation, he couldn't quite explain it. No images or memories accompanied it, just an vague feeling, nothing more.
Perhaps there was something, but whatever it was, Celes had fully formed his own personality and sense of self. The soul that once belonged to Naiad had completely reincarnated into a new identity.
This unsettling truth deeply troubled the royal family, a reality they were reluctant to accept, even as all four of them began to understand why Naiad had become Celes.
Seated on Thalassa's lap as she rested on her throne, Celes observed the royal family devise new ways to evoke old memories. He decided to ease the tension.
"I'm sorry… I don't really remember anything…" Celes yawned. "Um… I think we should go back to my mom and Nyx's mom, right?"
"Yeah! We should bring mom and my family here. I am sure we will be able to talk things out!" Nyx nodded. "You didn't need to bring Celes here…"
"You really have another family? You've… forgotten about us, Naiad?" Thalassa asked, her face twisting with frustration and sorrow. "How… how could you?"
"Ummm… it's not my fault…" Celes muttered, looking down.
"Celes…" Nyx glanced at her friend and then pointed toward the exit.
"Ahh, I gotta go now… it was nice meeting you!" Celes said, quickly floating away using his bubbles, with Nyx accompanying him.
"Thanks for the food! I'll bring mom and everyone else here so we can eat together!" Nyx said, waving her hand, trying to end things amicably.
"You're leaving?" Oceanus asked, shocked. "Why?"
"Where do you think you're going?" Thalassa demanded. "Naiad…! We lost you for hundreds of years! You can't leave us again! Stop!"
Thalassa stood, and Oceanus followed, as Celes and Nyx panicked, flying away as quickly as they could.
"Come back here this instant, young lady!" Thalassa roared. "I am done with your games. You will stop pretending to be someone else and confront your parents!"
"Naiad, after everything that happened, I won't let you escape from your family again!" Oceanus declared. "You haven't even told us what happened to you or where all those people you brought are! Are you trying to run away from your responsibilities now?"
"They've gone crazy!" Nyx cried.
"Ugh, I knew this was a bad idea!" Celes screamed.
As the two children neared the door, Oceanus and Thalassa shouted, their immensely powerful auras surging, spreading through the castle.
"Brontys, Coraleia, don't let them escape!" Thalassa commanded. "Dear, I know what we can do to bring her back!"
"Got it! Sorry, Naiad, but we can't let you run away again, alright?" Brontys said.
"Please just behave," Coraleia said gently.
The two giants rushed toward them, moving faster than Nyx's flight, and appeared before the door, blocking their escape with powerful Auras.
Brontys manifested an Aura of Thunder, and Coraleia an Aura of Corals and Ice. Nyx roared angrily, her body transforming into a dragon.
"Don't get in my way! I won't let you take my friend! RAAAAARRRR!" Googlᴇ search novel~fire~net
"She's really a dragon?"
The siblings gasped as Nyx transformed into a massive, black-scaled dragon with long, silvery-white hair. Her red eyes glowed brightly as she unleashed a devastating breath attack.
The dual barriers absorbed much of the damage but shattered into pieces, spreading smoke and black flames everywhere.
Nyx smiled, seeing the door was open.
"Celes, now, let's go—Celes?"
However, Nyx had lowered her guard for a moment, and Celes was taken from her, encased in a bubble of divine spiritual energy, held in Thalassa's palms.
Nyx screamed, rushing toward him, only for Brontys and Coraleia to block her, wielding their powerful divine spirit weapons and striking together.
"I am sorry, little dragon!"
"But we cannot let you take her away from us again!"
Nyx was caught off-guard by their sudden surge of power. She had thought they were mere weak gods, but they were far stronger than she imagined, their combined force pushing her down as thunder electrocuted her body and ice began to freeze her.
"Aaaaggh! Ouch! S-Stop that! RAAAARRR!"
Nyx roared angrily, releasing more phantom flames from her jaws, blasting through Brontys' defenses, only for Coraleia's magic to encase her in an ice coffin.
Nyx was shocked, completely paralyzed inside the ice. This was no ordinary ice; it possessed immense divine and spiritual power, capable of draining the energy of whatever it froze.
Yet she was a ferocious, powerful dragon, not just any dragon, but the daughter of her parents. She struggled with all her might, the ice cracking as her jaws and claws emerged. Brontys and Coraleia panicked, never having faced such a resilient foe.
"Damn it, keep her down!" Brontys said.
"I am already doing that! You use your strength for once!" Coraleia retorted.
They weren't trying to kill her, so they couldn't go all-out, but their combined strength made Nyx struggle more than she expected. She, too, avoided lethal force, desperate to hold back while fighting for Celes. The siblings wanted their sister back, and Nyx just wanted her friend.
Especially after seeing what they were doing to him.
"W-What… What are you doing to him? STOP!"
"Aaaaagghh! AAAAAAHHHHH!"
She heard his screams as Celes was held against his will within that bubble of divine spiritual power, surrounded by hundreds of divine runes.
"Dear, it's working!" Thalassa said.
"But she's crying… isn't this painful?" Oceanus asked.
Blue lightning continuously electrocuted Celes' body, causing extreme pain and agony, shaking the very core of his soul.
Suddenly, to everyone's disbelief, something began to happen.
From within his body, a mass of ethereal azure and white spiritual energy started to leak, taking a shapeless, blob-like form.
"It's there! Naiad! Why, just why were you hiding inside the body of that human child?" Thalassa asked. "I knew this body wasn't yours! We simply have to separate you from him!"
"She's there! She's really there! Naiad! Come back to us, Naiad!" Oceanus cried, tears streaming as he saw the mass of divine spiritual energy emerging further.
"AAAAGGHH! AAAAHHHHH!"
Nyx had never seen Celes scream in such agony before. They were killing him.
The more they pulled out his soul, the more he screamed, his body growing paler by the second.
Nyx, with her powers tied to the Element of Death and Souls, could tell.
"Stop…! Just why are you doing this? Why are you extracting his soul? That's wrong! DON'T DO THAT! STOOOOOP!"
Nyx unleashed immense shockwaves of powerful energy, phantasmal flames and black shadows spreading everywhere, shaking the entire castle.
Her Aura surged, resembling a gigantic shadow and phantom dragon, with hundreds of phantom dragon spirits merging together.
"What the hell is that?" Brontys asked.
"She has this much power?" Coraleia gasped.
