Chapter 1587: Chapter 1587
Using my abilities, we passed through the barrier with ease and reached the skies of Zodiacron once more. The skies grew cloudier and grayer as we approached the "Frontlines," where a relentless battle against the Hive persisted to this day.
As we drew closer, we heard explosions, screeches from beasts, and the pained screams of robots. Glancing below, we witnessed the battle unfold. Over a hundred Zodiacrons of all shapes and sizes fought an incoming wave of Hive Drones emerging from holes in the ground.
Large Ox, Boar, Goat, and Horse Zodiacrons held the frontlines, coated in armor crafted from the Hive's exoskeleton. They withstood acid sprays while those behind them fought. Rats and Rabbits, the weakest among them, combined their efforts, firing large cannons of electromagnetic energy from massive tanks they maneuvered.
Meanwhile, Tigers, Dragons, Monkeys, Roosters, Snakes, and other Zodiacrons engaged head-on, wielding claws, fangs, sharp wings, and an array of weapons, including blades, axes, hammers, and hand cannons, to pulverize the Hive Drones after considerable effort.
Among them, we spotted Vyperion and Gallotron. Both looked nervous but were handling things well. Their upgrades, enabling flight, helped them evade much of the danger.
"There they are! Vyperion! Gallotron! I came to fight with you guys!"
"Wait, Quick Hare! Don't jump!"
She leaped out of the Aura bubble I used to keep everyone floating, plummeting to the frontline and startling her two seniors.
Both panicked, mistaking her for a Hive Drone, aiming their laser guns at Quick Hare until her voice cut through the smoke.
"It's me! Calm down! You guys look so awesome fighting!" she said happily.
"W-What?! Quick Hare?!" Gallotron gasped.
"What in the world are you doing here, you stupid rabbit?!" Vyperion roared, furious. ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ ⓝovelFire.net
"I came to fight by your side! Maria was told to come to the frontlines, and she invited me to her party, so I'm allowed to come too!" Quick Hare smiled.
Vyperion saw us descending from the sky as we landed on the ground, his shock evident. His sharp, green LED eyes flashed with anger and disbelief.
He placed his hand on his forehead, gripping his metallic eyebrows tightly.
"I can't believe you would do something so irresponsible! She's a rabbit and only four years old! She hasn't even become a full-fledged warrior! You shouldn't have brought her here!" he hissed at me.
"We were assigned as her mentors and guardians," Gallotron sighed. "Risking her life is not right… especially because she's a rabbit Zodiacron, among the weakest!"
"I know, but she wants to grow stronger. What better way than to fight for it?" I asked, surveying the battlefield as I admired the many explosions. "Rowdy place you've got here, huh?"
"I-I am not weak! Maria and her friends said that if I level up and evolve, I can become strong!" Quick Hare insisted. "I'm tired of being treated like a weakling! I want to soar the skies like Lord Drakogon!"
"Like Lord…? What?! Don't be stupid! You're a rabbit. At most, you'll be assigned to the cannons over there, but nothing else!" Vyperion snapped angrily. "Get out of here right now, Quick Hare!"
"N-No!" Quick Hare retorted, her voice fierce. "Stop looking down on me, Vyperion!"
"Why wouldn't I look down on you when you're a Rabbit?!" Vyperion hissed. "Ugh, I am your guardian and senior. Do as I say, you disobedient brat!"
"Vyperion, calm down. The Hive Drones are coming!" Gallotron warned. "We don't have time for this!"
"Tch! Just stay out of this, Quick Hare! Your kind simply doesn't belong here, okay?! Just learn your place, and you'll fit in with society like everyone does! Everyone has a role!" Vyperion declared.
"B-But…" Quick Hare's face twisted with pain and sadness. She couldn't cry, but it seemed like she would. "I-I…! I am not a weakling!"
Vyperion glared at us, ignoring her pleas. "If you came to complete Lord Drakogon's orders, then get to it and leave! I won't let you contaminate Quick Hare's mind anymore with your stupid dreams and ideals! The System cannot do anything for those born as Rabbits or Rats! Your fate is sealed the moment you're born! And—"
"Watch out!" Quick Hare screamed as a massive shadow struck Vyperion before we could react.
Another shadow lunged at Quick Hare, but I swiftly protected her, manifesting a giant Hades Palm composed of abyssal darkness and starlight.
The powerful force pushed us back slightly as the figure took off into the skies, glaring down at us with rapidly beating wings.
"Aaaagh! L-Let go of me!"
Vyperion screamed, trapped under the sharp claws of what resembled a Rooster Zodiacron, but one colored black and purple instead of white and red.
What's more, he had massive metallic wings attached to his back with fleshy tendrils and pulsating masses of flesh across his chest and arms, forming artificial muscles.
"Well, well, well, look what we have here! A pitiful snake trying to act like a father! Long time no see, Vyperion!"
"C-Crimcrow?!" Vyperion gasped, recognizing him. "I-I thought you died…! What… What have you become?!"
"That time you abandoned me on the battlefield, I really thought I was done for! But the Hive welcomed me among their kind. They gave me strength, muscles, wings!" Crimcrow laughed. "I am no longer just a bird that cannot fly. I can soar the skies like the dragons! The Hive Queen wants metal, and I must procure the tastiest for her dinner tonight, Vyperion."
"B-Bastard! You sold your soul to those monsters! H-How could you?!" Vyperion freed himself from the claws, striking Crimcrow's leg with his long tail and transforming into his beast form, slithering toward us.
"Where do you think you're going, you filthy snake?!" Crimcrow roared, his eyes glowing bright red.
"Q-Quick Hare, run!" Vyperion screamed as the claws rushed down toward him.
"No!" Quick Hare cried, leaping to help him, only for the other shadow to emerge, intercepting her and slapping her away.
"I would recommend you not get involved, little rabbit," a towering Boar Zodiacron spoke, enormous and bulky, covered with extra layers of armor attached to his metallic body with fleshy tendrils. Part of his chest was carved open, revealing pulsating flesh tumors with eyes in them. "The Hive Queen demands food. You could become a fine appetizer."
It was amusing how they barely glanced at us, clearly underestimating "little people" as weak.
With a single word, my entire family sprang into battle.
"Hey, fuckass, fight someone your size!"
The Boar Zodiacron screamed in agony as Partner, transformed into her giant bat-like monster form, smashed his head with full force, shattering half of it into pieces.
The assault didn't end there. A blast of energy from her jaws blew off his left arm, sending pieces of metal and alien flesh splattering everywhere.
Simultaneously, a radiant light blazed through the battlefield. A powerful, glowing divine blade sliced through Crimcrow's sharp metallic claws, inflicting slashing wounds across his body in a split second.
SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!
Crimcrow groaned in pain, his body covered with glowing wounds, his armor crumbling as he faced a small human, Jonathan, wielding a sword brighter than any of their weapons.
"Huh?! A mere vermin like you dares…?"
He twisted his body, attacking Jonathan with a series of kicks, pushing him back and regaining momentum as his arms grew enormous, masses of flesh and metal fusing.
"I'LL CRUSH YOU BOTH!"
His giant arm swung down, but a massive, white-scaled dragon emerged, smashing his entire body with a swing of glowing claws.
Crimcrow felt his arm torn from his body by the dragon, Lucifer, who laughed, reveling in the robot's agonized screams.
"Hahaha! Yes! This is more like it! Scream!"
It was clear he'd been craving battle and bloodshed for a while, wasn't it?
