Going there means a definite promotion, though it’s likely an administrative post. However, Gu Junming should fare better and might end up leading a field regiment, which is something he’s longed for.

Yan Kai thought to himself that he, Gu Junming, and Wang Hu used to be on the same starting line. Now that Wang Hu has been reassigned far away, he’s effectively withdrawn from the race, and Gu Junming has finally surpassed him.
