Chapter 68: Chapter 68
Looking at the man’s cool and handsome face, Quinn Lockwood’s eyes flashed with mischief as she handed Chloe’s hand to Elias Sinclair and said, "Corinne, how about you play this game with Uncle?"
She had just played many games with Chloe and was a bit tired, wanting to take the opportunity to rest. Besides, Elias had been so inconsiderate earlier, it was only fair to get a bit of revenge.
"Okay, Uncle, let’s go." Obediently, Chloe responded, then took Elias Sinclair’s hand and tried to walk away.
However, Elias Sinclair remained unmoved, leaving Quinn and Chloe looking at him in confusion.
Not receiving any response for a while, Quinn Lockwood found the person in front of her somewhat dull.
Sighing, Quinn Lockwood took Chloe’s hand. "Corinne, it looks like I’ll be the one playing with you instead."
"Sister, why isn’t Uncle playing with me? Does he not like me?"
Chloe pouted, feeling a bit down. Being so young, she couldn’t understand why Elias Sinclair refused her.
Hearing this, Quinn Lockwood looked back at Elias Sinclair with a face full of helplessness.
This guy, even if he disregarded her, shouldn’t take it out on a child, right?
"I am afraid of heights."
Out of options, Elias Sinclair had to act indifferent and speak in a calm voice.
After a two-second pause, Quinn Lockwood couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Who would have thought that the boss of The Sinclair Group would have a fear of heights!
Thinking of this made Quinn Lockwood feel she had caught onto something about Elias Sinclair, her mood instantly becoming jubilant.
"Sister, what is fear of heights?"
Chloe asked in confusion, her adorable eyes blinking as she looked at Quinn Lockwood.
Quinn Lockwood couldn’t help but laugh out loud; Chloe was simply a divine assist.
The icy face must not look too good right now.
She sneaked a glance upwards and found that Elias Sinclair’s face had indeed darkened.
"Alright, Uncle can’t accompany you for some reasons, so Sister will go with you." If she continued to laugh, she might get hit. Quinn Lockwood reluctantly took Chloe into the entrance of the game.
After watching them go in, Elias Sinclair helplessly frowned slightly, feeling that women are just trouble.
With no noise around him, he finally remembered his original purpose. Seeing it wasn’t early, he turned and left the amusement park.
Quinn Lockwood and Chloe finished the game and came out, but they didn’t see Elias Sinclair anywhere.
"Huh, where’s Uncle?"
Chloe asked in confusion, her little head constantly looking around.
"Let’s go look for him."
Quinn Lockwood was also puzzled and decided to search with Chloe.
But after going through the entire amusement park, there was still no sign of Elias Sinclair.
Where did he go? He couldn’t have left, right? Quinn Lockwood pressed her lips in dissatisfaction.
Although she indeed embarrassed him just now, it was his own choice; no one forced him. He wouldn’t really leave them over such a small matter, would he?
She didn’t even drive; how would she get back, and what about Chloe?
Just as Quinn Lockwood was disgruntled, Chloe pointed with her finger, speaking in her childish voice, "Over there."
Quinn Lockwood looked over expectantly, thinking Elias Sinclair had returned, only to find it was a children’s train, making the light in her eyes instantly go dim. Follow current novᴇls on novel•fire.net
Children’s interest comes and goes quickly, and Chloe was clearly attracted.
"So you want to play?" Quinn Lockwood asked, bending down in resignation.
"Mm~" Chloe nodded, her eyes full of anticipation.
Quinn Lockwood had no choice but to take her over to play, glancing around instinctively.
She was a bit worried if Elias Sinclair returned and couldn’t find them at their original spot.
Yet even after they finished the ride, there was still no sign of Elias Sinclair. Perhaps they played too long, and a sleepy Chloe yawned. Unable to help it, Quinn Lockwood decided to take her out first.
Unexpectedly, as they left the park, they saw Elias Sinclair leaning against the railing at the entrance, holding two bottles of water, waiting for them.
"Uncle!" Chloe exclaimed, delightedly scampering her little legs over and hugging Elias Sinclair’s thigh, showering him with affection.
Elias Sinclair picked up Chloe and handed one of the waters to Quinn Lockwood.
"Where did you go just now?"
Quinn Lockwood breathed a sigh of relief, taking the water, while casually observing Elias Sinclair, never moving her gaze away from him.
"I went to the police station." Elias Sinclair said in a deep voice.
"Did you contact her family?" Quinn Lockwood realized, asking anxiously.
Which parent doesn’t love their child? Chloe hadn’t returned for a day and night; they must be worried sick.
Elias Sinclair nodded, checking his watch. They had played so long that it was past dinner time.
"Let’s talk while eating." He said, carrying Chloe as he walked towards the parking lot.
Quinn Lockwood understood what he meant and quickly followed.
The three went to a nearby Chinese restaurant, convenient for taking care of the little girl’s recovery. Quinn Lockwood followed closely.
After ordering, maybe due to playing all day, Chloe was ravenous and started devouring her food.
Afraid she might choke, Quinn Lockwood quickly patted her back to smooth her breath. "Eat slowly."
Looking up at Elias Sinclair sitting across, she said, "Did you just say you contacted her family?"
"A case was filed at the police station. The police found that her mother has been waiting at the station for a night." Elias Sinclair’s voice was calm, eating elegantly from his plate.
"Then we should hurry and send her back."
Quinn Lockwood sounded a bit anxious, thinking about how worried the little girl’s mom must be, which unexpectedly made her think of her own mom.
She recalled a time when she almost got lost as a child because she was playing too much, and her mom searched for her day and night.
"Mm." Elias Sinclair glanced at her carelessly, but when he noticed the sadness in her eyes, his gaze paused. "What’s wrong."
Quinn Lockwood snapped back at Elias Sinclair’s voice, quickly covering up her emotions, and turned to Chloe. "Corinne, shall we go find your mom later?"
Mentioning her mom, Chloe finally realized she had been out for a long time. She looked around with big, expectant eyes.
"Your mom doesn’t know you’re here. Sister and Uncle will take you to find her later, okay?"
Quinn Lockwood said while gently wiping Chloe’s food-stained mouth with a tissue, her eyes full of affection.
Chloe’s tender voice responded.
Quinn Lockwood couldn’t help but feel a little reluctant. Though it was just a day, this little one was really endearing.
Elias Sinclair unintentionally caught the emotions in Quinn Lockwood’s eyes, his dark eyes deepening.
After eating, Elias Sinclair drove them to the police station where Corinne’s mother was.
As soon as Quinn Lockwood and Elias Sinclair entered the police station with Chloe, they saw a simply dressed woman with slightly disheveled hair in the hall, looking at the door. Upon seeing them, her eyes lit up, and she rushed toward them.
