Chapter 65: Chapter 65
The little girl whispered, glancing outside with her big eyes, and placed her index finger on her lips in a gesture to keep quiet, fearing the doctor might have heard and would give her a shot.
But the little girl was also willing to eat obediently now.
Seeing her so cute, Quinn Lockwood’s smile grew softer, her delicate profile seemed to be coated with a gentle halo.
Seeing this scene, Elias Sinclair’s deep eyes were as unfathomable as an ancient well.
If he had a child in the future, would a family of three be just as sweet?
Although he always appeared cold and aloof to others, deep down, he longed for a happy family.
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, he was forced into marriage with Savannah Lowell.
"Mr. Sinclair, can you help get some water?" After ordering food, Quinn, while retying the little girl’s braids, casually asked Elias.
Now the little girl was very dependent on her, and she couldn’t leave, but she wanted to wipe the little girl’s face as it got dirty on the way, so she had to ask Elias for help.
Elias accidentally got lost in thought and didn’t hear, standing indifferent at the spot.
Seeing this, Quinn sighed slightly, realizing again he wasn’t that kind of person; why did she think he would change his attitude?
"If you’re tired, just go back first, I’ll take care of her." Quinn’s eyes returned to normal, no longer hopeful, her voice carrying a sense of detachment.
She felt a connection with the little girl and wouldn’t abandon her, but someone else, if unwilling to stay, should just go back since their time is precious.
Hearing it, Elias finally came back to his senses, and didn’t heed Quinn’s subtle request for him to leave.
He also had a responsibility for the little girl, staying was his duty.
He quietly went out to call Joyce Kramer, asking her to buy some clothes for the little girl and bring them over.
Just when Quinn thought Elias had left and was ready to get the water herself, Elias suddenly walked in.
Quinn couldn’t believe her eyes—he didn’t leave? A confusing feeling arose in her heart.
"What are you going to do?" Elias looked down at the hot water kettle in Quinn’s hand and asked.
"I’m going to get some hot water to help take care of her." Quinn pointed to the little girl playing on the bed.
Elias hesitated for a moment, then naturally reached out, took the kettle from Quinn’s hand, and walked out of the ward.
This move, even he didn’t know what he was thinking.
Despite the contempt on his face, Elias still surprised Quinn, but just for a moment; she considered it Elias’s apology driven by guilt for the little girl.
After all, if it weren’t for him, the little girl wouldn’t be unable to find her family nor stay in the hospital.
After helping the little girl wash her face, Quinn realized there were no clean disposable towels in the ward. Helpless, she could only use the tissues from her bag, and when she looked up, she saw Elias quietly watching her.
Quinn awkwardly tugged at the corner of her mouth, "This is all I have..." The source of this content ɪs novel fire.net
After a pause, she still asked Elias, "How about...you help buy some toiletries for her?"
Quinn regretted saying this as someone like Elias would never lower himself to do such things, especially her, ’Savannah Lowell’, asking.
Quinn was ready to be rejected, but the next second, a respectful female voice came from the door.
"President Sinclair, here’s what you asked for." Following the voice, Joyce Kramer entered, carrying a heap of stuff through the door.
"Did you get everything?" Elias calmly took the bag from Joyce’s hand, placing it in front of Quinn.
"Got it all." Joyce looked past Elias and immediately noticed the little girl lying in bed, and beside her...Savannah Lowell.
Joyce’s expression stiffened; she had worried something happened to Elias, but now...
Quinn didn’t expect Elias to be so considerate, having Joyce bring the things she needed so early, causing her to be momentarily stunned.
Joyce collected herself and walked over to the bedside, pretending to organize things, casually asking, "Why is Miss Lowell here too?"
Quinn came to her senses and furrowed her brow, not expecting Joyce to ask so directly, unsure how to answer.
She didn’t want Joyce to know she was in the same car with Elias.
But if she didn’t explain, Joyce would certainly misunderstand. After thinking for a moment, Quinn lightly replied, "I happened to pass by when the accident happened, so I helped."
Just happened to pass by?
Hearing this, Joyce looked puzzled; why did Quinn appear just at the car accident?
Could it be another of her self-directed acts?
After speaking, Quinn no longer paid attention to Joyce and began playing with the little girl.
Watching Quinn so relaxed, Joyce still felt something was off and quietly approached Elias at the door.
She whispered so only they could hear: "President Sinclair, I think you should be careful of Miss Lowell. This might be another one of her setups; don’t let her deceive you."
After saying this, Joyce deliberately observed Elias, trying to see his reaction.
Hearing this, Elias slightly frowned, unsure why Joyce thought so, but watching Quinn attentively care for the little girl, trusting his instincts, he resolutely said, "This time it has nothing to do with her; it was an accident."
After speaking, he slowly approached Quinn, who was busy feeding the little girl and just needed help.
Seeing this, Joyce’s heart trembled slightly.
It seemed Elias’s attitude towards Quinn had begun changing.
A woman’s intuition is sharp—Elias, who previously never wanted to be alone with Savannah, now could calmly help care for an unfamiliar little girl.
This wasn’t the Elias she knew.
"President Sinclair, there are matters at the company. Since you have no orders, I’ll be leaving first."
Unwilling, Joyce walked over deliberately, trying to interrupt Elias and Quinn.
She intended to remind Elias, hoping to use the company’s matters to make him return with her.
Unexpectedly, Elias just coolly waved his hand, indicating she could leave without even raising an eyelid.
Joyce found it incredible, emotion surging under her eyes, yet she could only turn and leave quietly.
Leaving the hospital, for the first time, Joyce felt threatened.
Thinking of Elias and Quinn’s harmonious scene, she squinted her eyes, glaring fiercely forward. Apparently, it was time for her to take action.
