Chapter 370: Chapter 370

Her small hand was firmly held by Elias Sinclair, the warmth of his palm flowing over. Quinn Lockwood felt her heart suddenly start pounding.

"Does it still hurt?" Elias gently asked, after cutting the gauze and tying a small, delicate knot for her.

Although Quinn felt touched, she was mainly furious.

She lowered her eyes, moved her lips, and after a few seconds, said lightly, "No."

Elias’s face darkened a bit, his eyes becoming more intense. Still, he patiently asked in a low voice, "Is your issue resolved? If not, let me handle it for you."

Hearing this only made Quinn angrier.

Wasn’t this a question with a known answer!

"I don’t need you to handle my issues. I can resolve them myself, so don’t trouble yourself, sir." Quinn snapped coldly, casting a chilly glance at Elias.

Elias’s face fell completely. He stood up with one leg on the sofa and suddenly leaned over, pressing both hands on Quinn’s shoulders.

"You’re testing my limits again."

"Savannah Lowell, we haven’t met for a few days, and now you’ve grown so bold that I really need to put you in your place." Tʜe sourcᴇ of thɪs content ɪs nοvelfire.net

The man leaned down, his forehead nearly touching Quinn’s.

His long, slender hand gently caressed Quinn’s cheek with tender affection and ambiguity.

Quinn almost sank her entire back into the sofa, trying to retreat her neck as far back as possible, only to be pulled into Elias’s embrace by his arm.

"Why are you dodging? Weren’t you quite fierce earlier?" Elias’s lips brushed against Quinn’s ear, the warm and ticklish sensation seeping in.

Quinn, flustered from head to toe, surrendered completely, her face turning crimson.

"I wasn’t that fierce, I just... I just got a bit cranky after waking up."

"Oh? You get cranky when you wake up." Elias moved his lips away, raising an eyebrow, commenting in a mysterious tone.

Seeing Quinn’s thoroughly red cheeks, the corner of the man’s mouth lifted into a slight smile.

"What’s the situation with the trending topic?" Elias’s expression turned serious as he sat down beside Quinn.

"I’ve been looking into it for a few days; it seems quite complicated..." Quinn’s face turned stern, her brows furrowing slightly as she exuded a cold and grim aura.

She explained the situation and the findings from her and Cameron Grant’s investigation to Elias.

Elias’s face grew colder and colder, and when Quinn mentioned how she got injured, his handsome face went black as if ink could drip from it.

Seeing her serious, somewhat weary face, Elias suddenly regretted going to the Italica branch of his company.

He should’ve delegated a person in charge instead.

Or simply delayed his trip for a few days, even though it would have cost a considerable project funding.

"I’ll get to the bottom of this." Elias clasped his hands on his lap, his long, narrow phoenix eyes narrowing slightly, exuding a dangerous aura.

Quinn didn’t respond at all, simply shaking her head to indicate refusal, then stood up.

A deep shadow crossed Elias’s brows as he directly grabbed Quinn’s hand, raising his eyes to examine her expression.

"Why?" His voice was low and husky, his gaze so deep one couldn’t discern his emotions.

Quinn tried to pull her hand away, struggling a bit before realizing it was futile, and finally sighed in a slightly annoyed tone: "No need, you weren’t planning on managing it anyway."

Upon hearing her words, Elias’s brows furrowed even deeper, finding himself a bit confused.

What on earth had happened in these few days? Why was she so angry? And it seemed like she thought I didn’t actually want to handle the issue.

Elias sat in contemplation as he gazed at Quinn, his mind momentarily blank and his temples throbbing intensely.

He had been busy for several consecutive days, plus he had taken a flight during the early hours to return and meet Quinn, his eyes now filled with red veins, his head slightly swollen.

Elias tilted his head back, locking eyes with Quinn for a few seconds before suddenly standing up, standing face-to-face with her.

"There’s no reason for me not to handle your matters." His voice carried a firmness mixed with an inexplicable strength, barely leaving time between his words before he stepped forward and scooped Quinn up.

"Hey, what’re you doing?" Startled, Quinn curled up in his arms, clinging tightly to him, afraid of accidentally falling.

Forgetting her injury, Quinn exerted too much force with her arm, and her face scrunched up in pain.

Elias tightened his hold on Quinn, walking steadily to the bed and gently laying her down: "Don’t move, take a rest. I’ll tidy up a bit."

Suspicion clouded Quinn’s face. She felt Elias wasn’t simply letting her rest.

She opened her mouth to ask, but before she could, the man tucked her in and walked into the bathroom.

"Huh?" Quinn stared questioningly, wondering why he... why he entered her bathroom?

While mulling over this and that, the sound of water started flowing from the bathroom.

Maybe he just wanted to take a shower first since he’s a clean freak and would definitely want to freshen up immediately after disembarking, Quinn thought.

Gradually lulled by the sound of water, Quinn’s eyelids weighed heavy, lingering on the edge of slumber when she sensed a movement beside her, a shadow looming.

"Who?" She asked warily, her heart skipping a beat as she opened her eyes wide.

"It’s me." Elias lifted the blanket and got onto the bed, pulling Quinn into his embrace, completely encircling her.

The faint scent of wood wafted to her nose, and Quinn’s face was pressed against Elias’s soft cotton pajamas, feeling his firm, strong heartbeat.

"What are you doing? Go back to your room and sleep. My arm’s injured..." Quinn pushed Elias, but he stayed still, holding her as he gently rubbed his chin against her head.

Elias carefully placed Quinn’s injured arm around his waist, ensuring it wouldn’t accidentally hit the wound while perfectly positioning them in a mutual embrace.

If you don’t want me to have the time to do anything else, just obediently close your eyes and sleep."

Elias reached up to ruffle Quinn’s hair, his eyes filled with tender affection.

For a moment, Quinn felt as if she was melting in his embrace. She looked up to study his face, its chiseled lines exuding both a reserved tenderness and a hint of weariness.
