Chapter 366: Chapter 366
Linda breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing Quinn Lockwood’s voice, but she suddenly tensed up, her eyes darting around in panic.
Quinn Lockwood scrutinized Linda with a searching gaze, placing both hands on her shoulders to face her: "Linda, tell me, what exactly is going on?"
Linda’s throat tightened, and she blinked rapidly, her face quickly turning serious: "I’m not lying, I really saw it."
"Tell me honestly, was someone making you do this?" Quinn’s delicate face was filled with coldness, her eyes deep and sharp, as if trying to see through Linda.
Hearing Quinn’s questioning, Linda’s pupils suddenly contracted, then she bit her lip and forcefully broke free from Quinn’s grip.
"I said I saw it, I saw it, stop pestering me!" Linda ran off with her head down, not sparing Quinn another glance, her tone aggressive, as if she deeply disliked Quinn.
Watching her stumbling figure, Quinn’s brows furrowed unconsciously.
It seemed like there was no other way.
Xenia Monroe sensed Quinn’s disappointment, gently hugging her arm and soothingly patting her back.
"It’s okay, Savannah, we’ll come back and find her again tomorrow, every day if necessary, until she is fed up!" Xenia stuck her tongue out in the direction Linda ran and guided Quinn away.
Suddenly, Quinn stopped moving. Xenia turned her head back curiously, about to ask what was wrong when Quinn covered her mouth.
"Shh, someone’s there." Quinn whispered, pulling Xenia to stealthily hide behind the wall.
The figures of two men, one short and one tall, appeared. They didn’t seem to be part of the group who came to collect debts before.
The two men walked quickly and lightly, following Linda from no more than a hundred meters away and getting closer. Tʜe sourcᴇ of thɪs content ɪs novel·fiɾe·net
"These two are sneaky, following a young girl at night with no good intentions." Xenia muttered quietly after they had passed by, pulling Quinn as if to leave.
"Shh, let’s follow them and see." Quinn pressed down on Xenia’s hand, quietly stepping out.
Xenia was startled by her boldness, quickly grabbing her clothes to stop her from going.
"Savannah, they might be here to collect debt. Let me call the police first, and then we’ll go over. It’s too dangerous." Xenia wasn’t unwilling to help Linda, but she felt the two of them were too weak to really help and could even get themselves in danger.
But Quinn was focused on those two men’s movements, completely ignoring Xenia’s words.
She leaned out, waving at Xenia.
Xenia, noticing Quinn’s silhouette had already disappeared, hesitated for a moment but still hurried after her.
The two followed them into the neighborhood where Linda lived, and when Linda reached the fitness equipment by the bushes, the two men suddenly rushed up.
"Mmm." Linda was dragged to the ground, her mouth covered, as the taller man forcefully hauled her towards the woods.
Quinn, not far behind, saw what they were doing and her face suddenly changed. She rushed over immediately.
"What are you doing, stop!"
She saw clearly, the taller man had taken out a knife, gleaming under the moonlight as it moved.
Quinn grew a bit scared, realizing the two men were here to silence someone.
"Sierra, go call for help, quick!" Quinn, afraid of dragging Xenia into it, urgently shouted at her, preventing her from following to rescue Linda.
Xenia was at a loss, hesitating but finally decided to go find help.
The two men noticed Quinn approaching, their eyes turning fierce, and they fiercely drove the knife towards Linda’s neck.
"No!" Quinn ran up, hugging the man’s arm, too scared to know what she was doing.
The man didn’t expect Quinn to rush over and was startled, almost dropping the knife.
Catching him off guard, Quinn swiftly pulled Linda up and kicked the thin one hard in the groin.
Hearing a wolf-like scream from the thin man, the tall man finally realized, maliciously raising his knife to slash at Quinn.
"Ah—watch out!" Linda screamed in panic, closing her eyes tightly.
Quinn’s heart tightened; she turned to see the knife coming down at her, instinctively raising her arm to block it.
"Who goes there, drop the weapon!"
"Savannah, Savannah!"
The voices of the security guard and Xenia echoed from the side. The man, startled, shook his arm, and Quinn only felt a sharp pain in her arm, followed by warm liquid flowing down.
"Let’s go, Skinny, get up, let’s go." The tall man quickly wrapped the knife in his arms, pulling up the groin-clutching, kneeling Skinny.
The thin man, despite being in severe pain, supported himself up and quickly ran off.
Quinn’s arm burned with severe pain as the scent of blood began to fill the air.
The security guard chased the fleeing men with flashlights while Xenia hurried over, looking at Quinn worriedly.
"Savannah, you’re hurt!" Xenia’s eyes fell on Quinn’s blood-soaked arm, fumbling through her pockets for something to staunch the bleeding.
Quinn inhaled sharply, letting her arm hang by her side, a cold sweat breaking out on her forehead.
Linda lay there, staring blankly at the puddle of blood left by Quinn, tears of fear streaming down her face.
"I’m sorry, I’m sorry Savannah Lowell, I... forgive me, please, I didn’t mean to."
"Savannah Lowell, are you okay, I’ll go get some gauze for you, wait for me." Linda trembled all over, staggered up, and turned to run back for gauze.
Quinn’s eyes darkened slightly, she stepped forward to grab Linda, her voice icy: "No need, I’m fine."
"No, you’re bleeding a lot, I’m scared... you..." Linda looked at Quinn’s bleeding wound, her eyes filled with more guilt.
"Don’t worry, I won’t die." Quinn tore off a strip from her waist to wrap around her arm, taking a deep breath as she spoke: "I just want to ask you a few questions."
