Chapter 257: Chapter 257
"Yeah, I’d like to know why anyone can come here?" Quinn Lockwood shrugged, glancing at Ariana Lynch with a hint of helplessness.
Ariana Lynch noticed Quinn’s indifferent attitude and a surge of anger welled up within her. Her fingers holding the champagne glass trembled slightly.
"Little sister, you’re as arrogant as ever, but to be arrogant, you need some backing." Ariana gently shook the champagne glass in her hand, slowly approaching Quinn.
Quinn frowned faintly as she watched Ariana get closer, a vague sense of foreboding arising in her heart.
Seeing the slightly tilted wine glass in her hand, she instantly understood.
She really never forgets to pick fights, no matter the occasion!
"Oh!" Ariana’s sharp voice echoed around them, and then she staggered, leaning towards Quinn, and using the cover of her body, poured the wine onto herself, one hand resting on Quinn’s arm.
The expensive gown worth millions was instantly stained with wine.
"Little sister, you..." Ariana looked at Quinn in disbelief, her beautiful eyes filled with innocent tears.
Quinn watched her series of actions, a light mocking smile tugging at the corner of her lips. Instead of avoiding her, she seized Ariana’s arm, leaning closer to her ear.
"Sister, it’s not, it’s not me pushing you; you can’t just accuse me like that." Quinn slightly raised her voice, sounding very innocent.
Then she turned with her high heels and let go of her hold.
There was a splash as a slender woman in a sapphire-blue gown fell straight into the pool from the viewing platform.
As she fell in, Quinn was momentarily stunned.
This water is unexpectedly deep!
Her nearly 170 cm height couldn’t even reach the bottom.
The spotlights sealed in the recess at the bottom dazzled Quinn’s eyes, and she inwardly cursed: "Who the hell designed this?"
Anyone would think this pool was only about a meter deep!
But fortunately, she could swim.
The sound of screams and shouts on the platform transmitted through the water into Quinn’s ears.
Just before she could surface, she heard a splash, and someone pulled her over forcefully, making her crash into a solid chest.
Quinn, having no time to react, gasped, inhaling the pool water into her lungs, choking her almost to the point of fainting.
"Cough cough cough!" Quinn was lifted horizontally by someone in the water, coughing violently as she breathed in air.
When she saw the man’s deep, worried eyes, Quinn looked at him for help, tapping her chest.
Elias Sinclair quickly carried Quinn back to the shore, pounding her back with his big hand.
Almost everyone at the party gathered around them, many taking out their phones to take photos and videos.
"Alright, alright." Quinn’s face was flushed from coughing, constantly panting heavily.
"Ariana, why... why did you push me? I didn’t dirty your dress... I..." Quinn tightly clenched her hands, biting her lips red.
The pool water trickled down her temples to her neck, causing her shoulders to tremble slightly from the cold. Her round eyes seemed to be brimming with water, cautiously looking at Ariana standing not far away.
Hearing Quinn’s words, Ariana was suddenly taken aback, stepping back straight. ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ Nov3lFɪre.ɴet
She hadn’t expected Quinn to say that; just now she had fallen in herself!
Ariana’s face turned ashen, glaring fiercely at Quinn.
The wretched woman dared to accuse her in front of so many people!
Yet her actions and expressions led the people present to believe it was Ariana who pushed Quinn into the water.
"Isn’t that the Lockwood Family’s heiress, Ariana Lynch? Surely she wouldn’t do that?"
"Oh, the one who fell in is Savannah Lowell. I heard those two have always been at odds in the entertainment industry, who knows what this time was about."
The onlookers whispered to each other, some getting bold enough to point fingers.
"If you don’t want to be kicked out, then shut up." Elias Sinclair cast a cold gaze over the crowd, the sudden drop in surrounding temperature causing them to shudder and quickly fall silent.
If they were really chased out, how could they continue to mix in the business world!
Taking off the suit jacket from his body and draping it over Quinn, Elias picked her up.
His dark eyes swept over Ariana, gradually turning deep and somber.
Then Elias withdrew his gaze, steadily carrying Quinn in the direction of the rest area.
Outside the banquet hall, a handsome, elegant man with a complexion like cold ice politely shook hands with the person in front of him, then lightly furrowed his brows and walked toward the crowd.
At the platform edge, Ariana stood, her jewel-adorned hands hanging tightly at her sides, her pale fingers trembling slightly, unclear whether from cold or anger.
"Ariana, let’s go change clothes." Ariana’s assistant cautiously stepped forward.
"Alright." Ariana’s eyes flashed with coldness, lifting her dress hem as she left under the assistant’s guidance.
In the VIP lounge upstairs, Elias had just planned to place Quinn on the bed but was hurriedly stopped by her.
"Hey, just put me on the floor; I’m still dripping water, can’t wet the bed. I won’t have a place to lie down later." Quinn struggled a bit in Elias’s arms, not wanting to lie on a soggy bed, nor wanting to trouble the hotel staff to change bedclothes.
Elias looked at her somewhat pale face, hesitating slightly before putting her down.
"You should take off the wet clothes first, I’ll go get the spare ones from the car." Elias frowned slightly, looking at the woman whose clothes and hair were all drenched.
Quinn wrapped Elias’s equally soaked suit jacket around herself, hesitantly looking at him.
Does she have to strip naked and... wait for him to come back?
Swallowing hard, Quinn blinked unnaturally.
"I’ll knock when I’m back, just take the clothes and go inside." Elias noticed Quinn’s guarded expression, furrowing his brows even more tightly unconsciously.
But he had no mood to tease Quinn, after all, the longer wet clothes remained, the easier it was to catch a cold.
"Oh, thank you." Quinn blushed as Elias saw through her thoughts.
Though he’d seen her in that situation before... it was because of unexpected circumstances.
Speaking of Elias, back then when she offered herself to him, he had refused; Quinn had even doubted if something was wrong with him.
