Chapter 179: Chapter 179
Quinn Lockwood just felt a buzzing in her ears and involuntarily stepped back.
"Savannah." Cameron Grant stepped forward to support Quinn Lockwood and gave the doctor a polite smile.
"The patient hasn’t woken up yet. Next, we will arrange for thrombolysis as soon as we get the results from the check-up." The doctor closed the medical record, took the thrombolysis risk notice and consent form from the assistant, and handed it to Quinn Lockwood, asking her to read it carefully then sign it.
When writing her name, Quinn Lockwood paused as she looked at the "wife" line in the family member’s section, stopping her hand which was about to write the word "Quinn," and changed it to "Savannah Lowell" in three big characters.
Why was her hand trembling? She had clearly gotten used to the name Savannah Lowell.
With a strange feeling in her heart, Quinn Lockwood handed the consent form to the doctor, looking a bit lost at Elias Sinclair, whose face was still pale and eyebrows tightly knit on the bed.
"Savannah, go take care of your wound. I’ll stay here." Cameron Grant’s fair hand rested on Quinn Lockwood’s shoulder, his gentle eyes filled with worry.
Quinn Lockwood shook her head and walked straight to the bedside, looking at Elias Sinclair, her eyes misting over.
"Brother, it’s all because of me... What if Elias really loses his memory? There are so many things waiting for him to handle, I..."
Quinn Lockwood bit her lip tightly, her hand clutching the hem of her clothes so hard that her knuckles went white.
"Don’t worry too much, you need to take care of yourself too." Cameron Grant helped Quinn Lockwood sit on the chair beside the bed, looking at the bruises on her face and neck, his brows furrowing immediately.
"Savannah, tell me what exactly happened? What situation did you encounter?" Cameron Grant crouched down, looking up at Quinn Lockwood with concern, but her clear eyes remained fixed on Elias Sinclair, her small fair hand clutching his blanket corner, unable to let go.
Cameron Grant stared blankly at Quinn Lockwood, then his eyes lowered, a chill washing over him.
After calling a doctor to treat Quinn Lockwood’s wounds simply, Cameron Grant sat quietly by her side, waiting for Elias Sinclair to wake up.
As his childhood friend, Cameron Grant also hoped from the bottom of his heart that his brother would wake up soon.
By nearly eleven o’clock at night, Elias Sinclair still showed no signs of waking.
"Savannah, go rest for a while. If Elias wakes, I’ll let you know immediately." Cameron Grant walked up to Quinn Lockwood, placing his large cool hand on her shoulder.
"I won’t leave him for a single step." Quinn Lockwood slightly snapped back to reality, looking up firmly at Cameron Grant.
"You should go home, brother. If neither of us goes home today, Mom and Dad will get suspicious. Also, let Mom know I called you. Today we’re too busy with the group, I won’t go back."
Cameron Grant paused slightly, a slight heaviness swelling in his heart, his hands falling away from Quinn Lockwood’s shoulders, trying hard to tug his lips into a natural smile.
"Alright, I’ll come again tomorrow. If Elias wakes, let me know." Taking off his coat, he draped it over Quinn Lockwood’s shoulders, patting her head before walking hesitantly out of the patient room.
He couldn’t help but stop at the doorway, looking at the slender figure, his warm almond eyes gradually dimming.
Quinn Lockwood unconsciously held Elias Sinclair’s warm large hand and rested her head gently against his shoulder, wiping away the fine sweat from his forehead.
"Please, wake up soon, okay? You must be safe, or I will... I’ll split your estate."
"Don’t you always value the company and dislike me the most? If you lose your memory, I’ll take over your company, and happily squander it."
"You know, legally we’re still married, I’m the primary heir."
As she talked, Quinn Lockwood buried her head in Elias Sinclair’s broad and sturdy shoulder, letting out a few uncontainable sobs.
Perhaps sensing something, Elias Sinclair’s eyes moved slightly but did not open.
The next morning, Elias Sinclair slightly moved his arm and slowly opened his eyes.
Feeling the weight on his shoulder and arm, the man lowered his eyes slightly, seeing Quinn Lockwood leaning against his shoulder, tightly holding his arm.
With a slight tug of his lips, a soft smile quietly surfaced in Elias Sinclair’s deep and stern eyes, though they darkened upon seeing the wounds on her cheeks. Then he lifted his other hand, gently caressing her cheek with much care.
"Hmm..." Maybe feeling a slight tickle, Quinn Lockwood’s lips twitched, her eyes slowly opened in a haze. Upon seeing herself tightly clutching Elias Sinclair’s arm, she suddenly panicked.
"Honey, you’re awake." A clear yet mildly gentle voice came from the man beside her, leaving Quinn Lockwood momentarily dumbfounded. She quickly sat up, looking at Elias Sinclair in shock, wanting to pull back her arm, only to have it held tightly by him.
Elias Sinclair raised his eyebrow slightly, remembering the vague words he overheard the day before, something about them being married. His lips curled into a slight arc, suppressing the laughter that almost reached his eyes.
"Honey, what’s wrong? Are you feeling uncomfortable?"
Quinn Lockwood’s heart pounded wildly, her pearly teeth biting down her already rosy lips till they were lusciously red, her face flushed faintly, nervously trying to stand up, only to be pulled back by the man holding her hand firmly.
Quinn Lockwood looked at him helplessly, shaking her head like a rattle drum.
"You’ve misunderstood, I... I am not your wife, I’m just that..."
Quinn Lockwood felt Elias Sinclair’s symptoms seemed a bit off, but before she could think further, she was interrupted by a soft laughter.
Quinn Lockwood was even more bewildered, it was the first time she heard Elias Sinclair laugh, the sound was clear as spring water and lightly joyful, compared to his usual cold and deep voice, it was surprisingly pleasant.
Seeing Quinn Lockwood’s anxious face turning red, Elias Sinclair couldn’t hold back and directly laughed out loud.
"Who was it yesterday saying we were married and that they would inherit my estate if anything happened to me?" The man’s handsome brows relaxed, his lips slightly curved with a light pleasure, his large hand pulled slightly, pulling Quinn Lockwood closer to him.
"Eh?" Seeing the teasing tone and expression of the man, Quinn Lockwood felt slightly upset but still supported her body with her hand, not daring to lean on Elias Sinclair, afraid to touch his wounds. ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ Nov3lFɪre.ɴet
"I did think something was off, with temporary amnesia you would only forget recent events, then your memory would stop at the time you hated me, how could you... call me that?" Quinn Lockwood’s round eyes looked at Elias Sinclair, cheeks puffed adorably in anger.
