Chapter 460: Chapter 460

Wan Chu’er called the waiter to settle the bill, gathered her things, and holding both of their bags in one hand, she looped her other arm around Mai Qiqi to head outside.

"Mai Qiqi, you’ve lost a lot of weight, ya know. The food today was so delicious, yet you hardly ate a bite. I bet you usually peck at your food like a little chicken." Wan Chu’er complained, but inside she knew Mai Qiqi probably had reached the point of hardly being able to swallow anything.

Because of a drunken Mai Qiqi, Wan Chu’er stumbled as she supported her. They had only walked a few steps when they ran into someone around a corner.

Mai Qiqi’s head bumped into the newcomer, and as she rebounded backward, Wan Chu’er stumbled a few steps, straining to catch her and dropping the bags on the ground in the process.

Finally steadying Mai Qiqi against a wall, Wan Chu’er quickly apologized to the person they ran into without even looking up: "Sorry."

She propped Mai Qiqi against the wall. "Stand still for me, don’t move, alright? I’m going to pick up our bags."

While making sure Mai Qiqi didn’t fall, Wan Chu’er hurriedly bent over to pick up the bags.

"Ew, An Zihao? Disgusting, get lost!"

Great, in the time it took to pick up a bag, Mai Qiqi started cursing at someone.

"An Zihao from where? Mai Qiqi, you shouldn’t..." Wan Chu’er swallowed the rest of her words.

The person in front of her really was An Zihao, wearing a well-tailored, high-end suit, expressionless, his hand firmly grasping the swaying Mai Qiqi’s arm, clearly to prevent her from falling.

Mai Qiqi, however, was struggling in a drunken haze, looking disgusted. Content originally comes from ɴovelfire.net

To make matters worse, next to An Zihao stood a delicate and exquisite girl, her eyes wide open, staring intently at An Zihao holding Mai Qiqi’s arm, obviously wanting to push Mai Qiqi away, yet she dared not take any action or ask anything.

Looks like An Zihao’s new girl!

Wan Chu’er quickly wrapped her arm around Mai Qiqi’s waist and said lightly, "Thanks for your help."

An Zihao released Mai Qiqi’s arm, dropping his eyes to hide the pain and heaviness within them, "It’s fine."

So, Wan Chu’er continued forward, supporting Mai Qiqi, who, whether drunk or provoked by An Zihao, obediently hung her head low and followed.

"Zihao, let’s go, too," came the girl’s cautious voice from behind, her tone was very pleasant, like the song of an oriole.

Wan Chu’er’s lips drooped as she sighed again and assisted Mai Qiqi out of the hotel entrance.

When they reached the car, Wan Chu’er opened the door with difficulty, threw the bags in, and then stuffed Mai Qiqi into the car. After closing the door and walking around to the driver’s seat, she had just buckled her seatbelt when the rear car door suddenly flew open, and Mai Qiqi dashed out, running off unsteadily.

Wan Chu’er called out and quickly unbuckled her seatbelt to chase after her.

What was she up to, wanting to chase down An Zihao and slap him a couple of times?

But she saw Mai Qiqi swaying into a small path ahead, turning into it. Wrong guess, Wan Chu’er sped up, catching Mai Qiqi.

"Big sis, where are you off to roam?"

Mai Qiqi chuckled, "I’m going to roam the world, wander the ends of the Earth, and uphold justice..."

Wan Chu’er: "...The mortal world and the ends of the Earth are in that direction, not this way." She tried to lead Mai Qiqi back towards the hotel parking lot, but Mai Qiqi, as if she were Popeye the Sailor Man who had eaten spinach, was very strong and wouldn’t turn around, continuing forward.

"You’re lying, I want to go that way. Wan Chu’er, you have to roam the world with me."

"Do you still recognize me, Mai Qiqi? Are you just pretending? Hurry up and come home with me, otherwise I’ll call your mom and tell her you’re out on a blind date."

Staggering Mai Qiqi suddenly stopped, turned her head to look at her, and complained, "Wan Chu’er, you’re bullying me."

"Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are, up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky..." Mai Qiqi unexpectedly started singing, and she sang quite well. Her singing had always been charming, not even affected by her drunken state.

Wan Chu’er followed her helplessly, wondering when this girl would finally stop her antics.

It was already around ten o’clock at night, and there were few pedestrians on the small road. As they walked, two beams of light appeared behind them. Wan Chu’er looked back and saw a car slowly approaching.

Since it was night, Wan Chu’er couldn’t see the person inside clearly. Thinking they were blocking the way, she went forward to pull Mai Qiqi to the side to let the car pass.

But instead of speeding past, the car continued to crawl behind them; they walked, it slowly followed; they stopped, it stopped, too.

It must be someone they knew.

Wan Chu’er turned her head again, looked beyond the headlights, and there was An Zihao’s wooden face, at the driver’s seat, watching the two of them, his thoughts inscrutable.

Wan Chu’er clicked her tongue and grabbed Mai Qiqi to head back.

"Stop messing around, unless you want to give that trash An Zihao a chance to hold you. He’s right behind us." Wan Chu’er whispered in Mai Qiqi’s ear, and Mai Qiqi immediately quieted down, holding her head high, letting Wan Chu’er escort her back toward the hotel’s parking lot.

When they passed by An Zihao’s car, he rolled down the window and looked at Wan Chu’er, "What’s wrong with her?"

"Too happy to see me, had a couple of drinks." Wan Chu’er said indifferently, without stopping her steps, supporting Mai Qiqi as they walked past An Zihao’s car.

An Zihao sat quietly in the car, watching Mai Qiqi and Wan Chu’er grow farther away in the rearview mirror until they disappeared.

He sat for a long time, until his phone rang.

After glancing at the caller ID, An Zihao turned his phone off and then pressed the accelerator to drive away.

"Oh my, such a strong smell of alcohol, how could you drink to this state? Qiqi, Qiqi..." As soon as Mother Mai saw her daughter, who was unconscious, she became anxious and took her over, calling out for a long time, but Mai Qiqi didn’t respond.

Wan Chu’er explained, "She’s feeling upset, drank some dull-witted alcohol."

"Chuchu, thank you for your trouble." Mother Mai sighed and called the nanny, "Chuchu, please sit for a while." Then she and the nanny helped Mai Qiqi upstairs, got her to bed, and after instructing the nanny to tidy up, Mother Mai hurried downstairs.

When Mother Mai came down, Wan Chu’er put down her teacup and stood up.

"Sit down, make yourself at home, no need to be formal, I’ve always treated you the same as Qiqi," Mother Mai said kindly.

Wan Chu’er smiled, "Is Qiqi asleep?"

Mother Mai nodded and asked, "Chuchu, tell Auntie the truth, is Qiqi still hung up on An Zihao? The child never tells us the truth."

"Auntie, you’re overthinking it; Qiqi has long since had nothing to do with An Zihao," Wan Chu’er said.

Mother Mai listened and breathed a sigh of relief; she was glad to not have to worry about the An Family’s boy.

"Then what exactly is Qiqi thinking? Do you know? Can you talk to Auntie about it?"
