Chapter 399: Chapter 399
In the end, they were all taken to a small room in the airport security office.
The name of the Overseas Chinese Chen Family carried weight, and the airport security staff didn’t dare to offend them lightly. They had to speak to Wan Chu’er in a polite tone, saying:
"Miss, how about you clear things up with them? No matter what the issue is, things will be fine once you talk it out."
Based on Wan Chu’er’s attire, it was clear she was no ordinary person. Moreover, she had an icy, haughty demeanor. The airport staff felt caught between a rock and a hard place and quite literally didn’t know what to do.
The man in the trench coat quickly changed into a clean set of clothes in the neighboring room and came over.
As soon as he entered, he saw his own mother and his little niece ignoring each other, both exuding an air of cold aloofness.
"Niece, I really am your uncle. My name is Chen Jiahua..."
Wan Chu’er rolled her eyes and said, "Grandson, I’m your grandma. Really."
Chen Jiahua’s eyes widened, his expression turning to one of stupefaction.
The airport staff and several bodyguards from the Chen Family in the room couldn’t help but turn away and laugh, holding back their laughter out of respect for the old lady. Their shoulders shook uncontrollably with their effort.
"How dare you!" The elderly lady snapped out of it and barked, "Wan Shiguo, your father, was born after I carried him for ten months."
Hearing her words, Wan Chu’er’s face dropped the taunts, and her eyes gradually went cold, fixating on her unmovingly. The look was so chilling that those of faint heart began to recoil.
Chen Jiahua suddenly clapped his hands and said, "Look, you look exactly like your grandma when you’re angry. That’s the best evidence."
Wan Chu’er and the elderly lady glared at Chen Jiahua at the same time, which immediately silenced him. He blinked wisely.
"My dad is no more. He was an orphan," Wan Chu’er said, her voice without a hint of emotion, as flat as could be.
Mentioning Wan Shiguo, the old lady’s expression softened and she said somberly, "I know, I was the one who personally left him at the doorstep of the orphanage."
With a smirk of derision, Wan Chu’er retorted, "Since he was abandoned back then, there’s no need to bother pretending now that he’s gone."
The elderly lady closed her eyes, as if sinking into some painful memories.
Chen Jiahua was a bit embarrassed but still earnestly said, "Look at you, saying things like ’pretending’. We sincerely want to acknowledge you."
"I also sincerely tell you, whether you are genuine or not, don’t expect to get anything from me. And of course, I have no desire to get anything from you. I have absolutely no interest in you," said Wan Chu’er, her words steeped in indifference.
If they abandoned Wan Shiguo over forty years ago, what is the meaning of them emerging now? She now has a family and children and lives a good life; where is there a lack of affection?
Moreover, these two people, one is offbeat and the other is like an extinct master, are simply two lunatics, and she had no interest in lunatics.
To think they came up with such a lousy scheme as throwing coffee just to get to know her.
Wan Chu’er was firm in her resolve: if she were to continue entangling with these two people, it was guaranteed to cause a heap of trouble.
Unanticipated by Chen Jiahua that Wan Chu’er would be so unyielding, he blinked and stammered, "Little niece, you really... have character!"
The elderly lady opened her eyes and spoke expressionlessly: "Forget it, let her go."
"Mom," Chen Jiahua called out.
The older woman waved her hand, "Let her go."
Thus, Wan Chu’er left without a further glance at them, pushing the door open without any semblance of attachment.
Only after the door closed did Chen Jiahua jokingly ask, "Mom, are you really willing to let go of such an outstanding granddaughter?"
The elderly lady narrowed her eyes and said, "A melon forced off its vine is not sweet. Is the house ready? We’ll move in first and then talk."
"It’s ready, it’s ready." Chen Jiahua grinned slyly, thinking to himself: Little Chu’er, see you in a bit.
The airport staff still in the room looked up to the heavens, continuously hypnotizing themselves: I didn’t hear anything, didn’t hear anything, didn’t hear anything...
Before they returned to the country, they had thoroughly investigated everything about Wan Chu’er and even learned a trick from Wan Chu’er’s cheap step-grandfather: "Those who stay near the water get the moon first."
They spent a lot of money to buy the villa next to Wan Chu’er’s house in Jinse Garden.
Though the villa was mediocre, for the sake of their little niece, they had to settle for living there for a while.
Wan Chu’er had no idea about their plans. After leaving the airport, she drove her car furiously fast all the way.
Right now, she felt a fire blazing out from her chest, as if all her insides were being scorched, and her brain was about to explode, wishing she could destroy the world.
Why did they dare to show up!
Why did she abandon Wan Shiguo back then!
Even tigers don’t eat their offspring, and even a vicious dog has affection — how could a mother bear to abandon her child, no matter how hard the situation was.
If Wan Shiguo hadn’t been abandoned back then, he wouldn’t have had to endure over a decade of inhumane torture.
How dare they treat her !
Do they think she is a fool? Do they think she has no temper or no conscience, that they can just show up whenever they want.
How dare they confront her, shamelessly claiming to be her grandmother and uncle, and even dare to bring up Wan Shiguo!
Wan Chu’er’s foot pressed even harder on the accelerator, and the veins on the back of her hand holding the steering wheel bulged out, allowing the traffic to witness a red sports car shoot forward like a rocket.
The incessant ringing of her phone in her pocket finally pulled Wan Chu’er back from the brink of eruption.
She exhaled, slowly decelerated, and pulled over to the side of the road.
Wan Chu’er punched the steering wheel, causing the car to emit a piercing "beep beep" sound.
She took out her phone and saw that it was a call from Li Shan, so she called back.
"Brother Lishan, what’s up?"
Li Shan said, "When are you coming back to visit the old man? The old man misses Xiao Ya and Xiao Zhuo." Actually, he missed the two little ones too.
"Oh, got it. I’ll bring them back to the old house tomorrow morning," Wan Chu’er said indifferently.
Suddenly, she felt a shadow looming in front of her, so she turned to look out the window and saw a magnified face pressed against her car window, staring in at her.
Wan Chu’er was startled and leaned back.
"Damn!" she couldn’t help but curse.
A showy yellow sports car was parked in front of her, and three dodgy-looking young men were surrounding her car.
"What happened?" Li Shan asked through the phone, hearing Wan Chu’er’s cursing.
Wan Chu’er stared out the window at a man with dyed yellow hair and several rings in his ears and nose, a hint of a smile on her face, and calmly told Li Shan, "It’s nothing, hanging up now."
"Hey, beautiful, you drive pretty fast," said one of the yellow-haired guys outside, leering as he lay on the hood of her car.
Wan Chu’er looked at him with contempt, then revved the engine hard. The car made a huge noise, which scared the yellow-haired man in front, who panicked, "What do you think you’re doing!?"
The other two yellow-haired men hurriedly knocked on the window, trying to get Wan Chu’er to stop.
