Chapter 396: Chapter 396
"Alright, we’re really siblings." Xiao Bai forced a smile and said, "Don’t worry. As long as Second Brother is here, I’ll definitely earn more money for you, and for Yan Hui too. I owe him a lot of money."
The two of them didn’t dwell on the money matter. Wan Chu’er, suppressing her sorrow, said briskly, "Later, send me the company’s operational report and user growth data for the past six months..."
She wanted to contribute, as it had been a while since she last paid attention to the company’s situation. Before contributing, she had to sharpen the axe.
Xiao Bai nodded, "Sure, no problem."
Wan Chu’er thought for a moment but couldn’t think of anything else to discuss. She knew Xiao Bai’s time was precious now, so she left.
As soon as Wan Chu’er left, Xiao Bai sighed. Just as he was putting the packet containing Wan Chu’er’s assets into a drawer, Jiang Xiaoxiao knocked and entered.
Xiao Bai sat back at his desk and asked matter-of-factly, "What’s up? Is the report ready?"
Jiang Xiaoxiao was taken aback and quickly nodded, "It’s ready. I’ve emailed it to you."
"Alright, I’ll take a look in a bit." Xiao Bai then lowered his head and continued working on the previous documents.
Unexpectedly, Jiang Xiaoxiao lingered instead of leaving, took a bank card from her pocket decisively, and placed it on Xiao Bai’s desk.
Xiao Bai looked up at her, confused, "What do you mean?"
Jiang Xiaoxiao swallowed and said, "There is over a million inside. I don’t mean anything else, just... just want to help a little."
Xiao Bai’s face turned stern, "Nonsense! Take it back. The company doesn’t lack your one million."
Jiang Xiaoxiao stuck out her tongue, insisting, "You’ve sold your house. Unless you’re meeting with business partners and investors this month, you’re either ordering takeout or eating at food stalls."
Xiao Bai was momentarily amused by her manner. He tossed his pen aside and tilted his chin up, "Have you been following me?"
Jiang Xiaoxiao pouted, "I’m your secretary, and I care about you."
"One of the secretaries!" Xiao Bai corrected her. He was strict and had high workloads, so he had three secretaries.
"Alright, I appreciate your gesture, but take the card back. Your money won’t even make a splash." Xiao Bai resumed looking at his documents, ignoring her.
Jiang Xiaoxiao stood her ground, arguing, "Who says it won’t? A million can at least fund events at ten universities."
Xiao Bai threw his pen down again upon hearing this, "There are so many universities nationwide! What good are ten? Enough, I don’t need your one million, take it back."
Jiang Xiaoxiao insisted, "If not for marketing, it’s enough for you to have some good meals."
Xiao Bai couldn’t hold back and laughed. He shook his head, stood up from his desk, and walked over to Jiang Xiaoxiao.
Jiang Xiaoxiao suppressed her instinct to step back and stared straight ahead, focusing on Xiao Bai’s tie.
From above came Xiao Bai’s laughter, "Still not giving up?"
Though the question seemed out of nowhere, Jiang Xiaoxiao understood immediately. She nodded vehemently, not willing to give up. From a young age, she’s only liked him, and she wouldn’t give up until the end, couldn’t even if she wanted to.
Xiao Bai’s laughter subsided, and he said softly, "Maybe it won’t be long before I turn penniless. If you want to be with me, you’ll face greater resistance..."
Jiang Xiaoxiao was momentarily overwhelmed and interrupted him, "I’m not afraid. I’m only scared that you won’t give me a chance." Her biggest fear was Xiao Bai suddenly getting married without warning or bringing another woman and introducing her as "Mrs. Bai."
Just imagining such a scene was heartbreaking, and her upbringing wouldn’t allow her to entangle with a married man.
After blurting out her fear, she heard no response. After several seconds, Jiang Xiaoxiao looked up, only to be pulled into Xiao Bai’s arms the next second.
Jiang Xiaoxiao froze. This was the first time since they ran into her older brother at the cinema that Xiao Bai had been close to her, and it was their first hug.
Jiang Xiaoxiao dumbly extended her arms, hugging Xiao Bai’s waist and back tightly.
Xiao Bai’s scent was pleasant and clean. Being in his embrace felt securely comforting, and all the worries about the company due to Thunder’s moves seemed to disappear. Her trust in Xiao Bai had never felt stronger.
Hugging Xiao Bai felt like embracing the whole world, and she was very content.
From above came a voice, "Fool!"
Jiang Xiaoxiao smiled foolishly; she was only a fool for Xiao Bai.
Xiao Bai noticed her smile, sighing helplessly. This silly girl had persisted for three years. Truth be told, he was moved.
"If we can get through this time, I’ll seriously consider our matter."
Finally, Jiang Xiaoxiao left Xiao Bai’s office, grinning foolishly. Xiao Bai returned her card, but that didn’t matter. She would buy him good food later.
Wan Chu’er had no idea what happened between Jiang Xiaoxiao and Xiao Bai after she left. When she got home, she fed the babies and then turned on her computer to receive the materials Xiao Bai had sent.
After carefully studying the company’s operating situation, she couldn’t figure it out and searched for Thunder’s information online.
After a round of searching, she found that all the information online seemed to be deliberately released by Thunder. She couldn’t find the information she wanted.
Unwilling to give up, Wan Chu’er, after much hesitation, cautiously disguised her computer’s address, took a few detours, encrypted and decrypted multiple times, and carefully sneaked into Thunder’s network.
As expected from someone returning from Silicon Valley’s K Company in America, their network security defense was solid.
Wan Chu’er’s fingers flew over the keyboard, her forehead sweating. After a long while, she finally breached in, quickly searching for the information she wanted. But only three seconds later, an alarm went off.
Wan Chu’er’s heart skipped a beat, and without hesitation, she immediately backed out, erasing all traces step by step until the computer screen went black. Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief.
There’s always someone better.
With experts guarding Thunder, she decided to calmly face the challenge head-on.
Although discouraged by this setback, Wan Chu’er was undeterred. She quickly calmed down and once again took out paper and pen, scribbling down any strategies she thought of, suitable or not.
Time passed unnoticed. Jiang Kechu had waited long for Wan Chu’er without her appearing, so he came to the study to fetch her.
"It’s time to rest; you need to keep up your strength to win the fight." Jiang Kechu domineeringly put her pen down and pulled her out of the study.
Wan Chu’er also knew that this matter couldn’t be rushed, so she let him lead her upstairs.
