Chapter 312: Chapter 312
After hanging out and having fun outside, Jiang Kechu directly took Wan Chu’er back to the old mansion, not wanting her to be disgusted by the bunch of people at home.
After this outing, Wan Chu’er did not go out anymore and still shut the door to practice diligently in preparation.
The Lantern Festival soon arrived, and Jiang Kechu had long said he would pick her up to see the lanterns. Just as it got dark, Jiang Kechu and Jiang Xiaoxiao came to pick her up.
Jiang Xiaoxiao smiled and hugged Wan Chu’er’s arm, "Today, I’m going to be your third wheel. You can’t mind me being here."
Just then, Xiao Bai overheard and chimed in: "Do you want your brother to accompany you? Two girls and one guy is less fun; two guys and two girls would be perfect."
Then he winked at Wan Chu’er, signaling look how tactful I am, "Perfect, they are siblings, you and I are also like siblings, just perfect."
Wan Chu’er: "..." Does this idiot have feelings for Jiang Xiaoxiao?
Upon hearing this, Jiang Xiaoxiao felt somewhat embarrassed, but she still generously said, "Brother Bai, if you have nothing to do, come join us. The lanterns in Beijing are really beautiful."
Thus, the group of four set out.
On the way, Jiang Xiaoxiao quietly told Wan Chu’er about Lin Jiayi’s wedding.
"My dad and mom were both busy and couldn’t attend; I was dragged there by Jiang Lingling," Jiang Xiaoxiao said with a look of regret that she hadn’t managed to escape it.
Wan Chu’er raised her eyebrows and glanced at Jiang Kechu walking ahead. She hadn’t expected that Father Jiang and Mrs. Jiang hadn’t attended Lin Jiayi’s wedding because of her?
The next second, Jiang Xiaoxiao leaned in and whispered in her ear, "My parents did it on purpose. They think Lin Jiayi has a bad character and said we should cut ties with him less frequently. Hee hee, actually, it was my brother’s idea." Then she rubbed Wan Chu’er’s arm playfully, giggling, "My brother is really good to you."
Wan Chu’er smiled and then listened to Jiang Xiaoxiao say,
"I heard Uncle Lin disowned Lin Jia because of the wedding issues. Uncle Lin didn’t even attend the wedding; he left for a job in another place the day before. Hardly any family members from the groom’s side were there; only one of my aunts from both families managed to make it."
"That Simon though, he was willing to spend money; the wedding was quite lavish. Lin Jiayi looked unspeakably happy, but I guess that’s enough to make shallow girls envious."
Wan Chu’er smiled and asked, "Aren’t you envious?"
Jiang Xiaoxiao rolled her eyes at her, "Envious of marrying a twice-married foreigner of dubious origins? If I dared to envy that, my brother would disown me."
Wan Chu’er laughed and said, "It’s okay, if your brother disowns you, I’ll recognize you."
Both of them laughed.
In the front, Jiang Kechu, who was driving, heard Wan Chu’er’s laughter and couldn’t help but smile.
Xiao Bai, listening and watching, clicked his tongue twice.
Upon arriving, the street was already packed with people. They parked the car far away and walked over.
Wan Chu’er occasionally observed Xiao Bai along the way but noticed that even with her and Jiang Xiaoxiao around, Xiao Bai didn’t miss glancing at the beauties on the street.
It seems Xiao Bai has no interest in Jiang Xiaoxiao.
As it turned out, her sneaky peeks at Xiao Bai were noticed by both Jiang Kechu and Xiao Bai. Xiao Bai mumbled internally, hoping the lady wouldn’t harbor any bad ideas, while Jiang Kechu, displeased, reached for Wan Chu’er’s hand and pulled her to his side, effectively blocking her view of Xiao Bai, whispering in her ear, "Don’t look at other men."
Wan Chu’er: "... Okay."
The streets were packed, with all sorts of beautiful lanterns hanging everywhere, and street vendors shouting amidst the very lively scene.
Their attention was soon captivated by these dazzling sights as they slowly moved forward with the crowd.
They were quickly separated from Xiao Bai and Jiang Xiaoxiao due to the crowd.
"Xiaoxiao? Why isn’t she here? Let’s look for her, there are so many people here." Wan Chu’er was a bit worried about Jiang Xiaoxiao.
Jiang Kechu, however, was calm and said, "Xiao Bai is with her, don’t worry, nothing will happen."
Oh, how did those two end up together?
The thoughts that had just extinguished began to sway and rise again, and Wan Chu’er’s eyes shifted, but she did not speak.
Wan Chu’er remembered this time last year when Chen Xiran gave her a lantern that Jiang Kechu then threw into the trash bin, she couldn’t help laughing: "Do you still remember throwing away my lantern last year? You owe me one this year."
Jiang Kechu also remembered the past and snorted, "No more accepting lanterns from others in the future." Then he looked around and said, "You wait here, I’ll go get you a lantern."
"Okay, I don’t want a little rabbit, I want a mother shrew." Wan Chu’er happily made her request.
Jiang Kechu’s mouth twitched, and he squeezed into the crowd selling lanterns.
Wan Chu’er was waiting for Jiang Kechu while looking around trying to spot Jiang Xiaoxiao and Xiao Bai. Instead of seeing them, she noticed another pair of old acquaintances.
Wei Feng and Chen Xiran.
Moreover, Chen Xiran’s gaze collided with Wan Chu’er’s.
Wan Chu’er quickly averted her gaze, bowed her head, and concentrated on waiting for Jiang Kechu.
It really was a coincidence; if she had known she would encounter those two, she wouldn’t have stopped here.
With so many people here, at least tens of thousands, it’s quite a fate to run into these two.
The two of them haven’t changed much in a year; if there’s a change, it’s probably that they seemed even more loving.
Chen Xiran quickly recognized Wan Chu’er and remembered last year’s incident, then he couldn’t help but smile, resulting in Wan Chu’er lowering her head with an expressionless face, standing still.
Chen Xiran was surprised, thinking that Wan Chu’er was again in a bad mood, thus wandering alone at the bustling Lantern Festival.
He has always been a kind person, so he whispered something to Wei Feng, who also looked at Wan Chu’er. Wei Feng didn’t have a strong impression of Wan Chu’er, but she always supported what her boyfriend did.
Thus, the two squeezed through the crowd and approached Wan Chu’er.
Wan Chu’er, grumbling to herself, suddenly saw a small rabbit lantern appear in front of her, which then stopped moving. Chen Xiran’s gentle voice came from above.
"Hello, we meet again. Here’s a lantern for you."
Wan Chu’er: "..." She suddenly felt like her heart was gnawed by a dog.
She looked up at Chen Xiran and Wei Feng, Chen Xiran with a friendly smile, and Wei Feng charmingly hugging Chen Xiran’s waist tightly.
"Hello, happy Lantern Festival," Wei Feng said generously.
Wan Chu’er: "...Hello."
She instinctively didn’t want to appear rude in front of Wei Feng.
Wei Feng, pointing at the lantern Chen Xiran offered, said with a smile: "Here, take it," as if she were appeasing a child.
Wan Chu’er felt complicated and declined: "No need, my boyfriend is buying a lantern for me."
"Chuchu." Suddenly, a voice cheerfully called out to her, and then she saw Yan Hui squeezing over.
"Ah, Brother Yan, you know each other?" Unexpectedly, Chen Xiran also knew Yan Hui.
