Chapter 351: Chapter 351
"Fine, I’ll tell you. I am him, and he is me. He’s still inside this body at the moment, but he’s asleep," Leng Mochen said without beating around the bush anymore.
Li Si was speechless, her face full of black lines. "Then when will he wake up?" Did this mean she’d have to deal with a constantly switching Leng Mochen from now on?
That would be a bit too...
"Whenever I’m weak, he’ll come back. Actually, I woke up on the day of my grandfather’s birthday banquet. Unfortunately, my soul power was severely lacking at the time, and I couldn’t control this body," he patiently explained.
"And then?" Li Si felt like she was listening to some kind of tall tale. It was all too surreal, making her head spin a bit.
Leng Mochen looked at her seriously. "And then, after I’ve finished what I need to do, I’ll reincarnate. My time here is already running out!"
"So, you’re saying you’ll leave without regrets once your wish is fulfilled?"
What was this supposed to mean?
"Yes! My soul power is still very weak, so I can’t stay in control for long," he said, a trace of regret in his voice.
Li Si sighed in relief. "Then what is it that you want to do?"
Li Si was beginning to understand. What Leng Mohao had done—any real man wouldn’t be able to tolerate it. Especially that car accident years ago. That had been premeditated murder, no less!
"But how do you plan to get revenge? Don’t tell me you intend to kill him?"
Li Si felt the murderous aura radiating off him. "Actually, he’s already done some groundwork, so even without you doing anything, Leng Mohao’s life wouldn’t be any easier," she said truthfully.
It was true—although Leng Mohao still had a company, his reputation and credibility were completely gone. In business, trust was everything, and he had all but cut off his own path forward.
Now, on top of being disowned by Mr. Leng Sr., he’d lost his family’s halo of prestige.
If evidence of the attempted murder from years ago came to light, what awaited him would undoubtedly be a prison sentence.
"I want him to suffer a fate worse than death!" his eyes glinted with a bloodthirsty light.
Li Si felt a faint unease. What if he failed to accomplish what he wanted? Would he just linger for the rest of this lifetime?
And what about her? And the baby growing in her belly?
A slew of questions and challenges tumbled around in her mind.
Just then, Leng Mochen’s phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out with a strange expression and, seeing the caller ID showing "Long Wu," a wicked smile spread across his face.
"Long Wu, what the hell are you up to now?"
On the other end, Long Wu seemed momentarily caught off guard and repeatedly said "hello" several times before stammering, "Leng Er, is that you?"
"You idiot, if it’s not me, then who?"
"Damn! What the hell is going on with you today? Is something wrong with you? You had all of us running around in circles! What the hell were you chasing Leng Mohao for?" Long Wu’s voice soared several octaves. This dramatic tone was just so him—it suited his flair for the dramatic.
"Top floor of the maze! Alright, we’ll talk face-to-face!"
Leng Mochen hung up. "Long Wu’s nearby—he’ll be here soon. You two have a pretty decent relationship, don’t you?"
"Haha, yeah, we get along," Li Si chuckled awkwardly, not knowing how else to respond.
Facing that familiar face engaging in completely uncharacteristic behavior, she couldn’t shake off the intense sense of dissonance.
All Li Si wanted now was some peace and quiet—a moment to breathe. She desperately needed a moment of calm!
This was testing her nerves to the extreme.
Heavens, could you not mess around with her ?
Before long, Long Wu pushed open the door and entered.
As soon as he stepped inside and saw Leng Mochen standing, Long Wu’s eyes went wide in shock. "Holy shit! What the hell is going on? The way you spoke on the phone just now—it’s just like you were before you lost your memory! Are you telling me you’ve regained your memory?"
Leng Mochen laughed and gave Long Wu a hard punch on the shoulder. "You’re still the same!"
"Damn you! Don’t mess with me!" Long Wu rubbed his aching shoulder. This guy was definitely doing that on purpose.
Long Wu shifted his gaze to Li Si, concern flashing in his eyes. "Sisi, are you alright? You really scared us earlier!"
When he’d heard Leng Mochen had gone after Leng Mohao and couldn’t be reached, his heart had skipped a beat. Of all the people, he knew Leng Mochen the best—if provoked, he was someone who never let grudges go unavenged.
Now that he’d regained his memories and was reminded of the past, could Leng Mohao possibly still have a good life ahead of him?
Li Si helplessly nodded from the back. "I’m fine. What about Brother Heizi and the others?"
Long Wu waved his hand smugly. "They’re farther away, but I happened to be nearby and called earlier. They should be on their way. This Mid-Autumn Festival has been such a rollercoaster!"
"Leng Er, spill it. What exactly happened? How did you suddenly regain your memory? What triggered it?"
"Long Wu, is Heizi that buddy of yours from the police force?" Leng Mochen poured himself a glass of red wine and took a sip before asking.
Long Wu looked at him as if he’d seen a ghost. "You messing with me, Leng Er? You don’t even remember who Heizi is? Don’t tell me you’ve remembered the past but can’t recall the present.
And you do remember that Sisi is your wife and the one carrying your son, right?"
He even winked dramatically at Li Si as he teased her. Li Si couldn’t hold back her laughter. With Long Wu around, she actually felt a bit less stressed; the return of the original Leng Mochen felt less daunting somehow.
She knew Long Wu wouldn’t hurt her—she had an unexplainable sense of certainty about it.
"Shut up! What’s with all the nonsense?" Leng Mochen scowled and then said, "Of course I know who my wife is."
He shot Li Si a meaningful glance as he spoke.
"Good! As long as you know. Let me tell you, today’s Mid-Autumn Festival, not April Fools. Let’s not mix up the two, alright? Now spill it—what’s going on? Is Leng Mohao still bouncing around trying to go against you?
If that land project hasn’t caused him enough headaches yet, we can team up to screw him over again—just like we did with the Ye Family!"
At this, Long Wu’s hands itched a bit—those schemes had made money so quickly! It was way easier than running his True Treasure Pavilion to earn an honest living.
Leng Mochen gave Li Si an odd look. "We’ll discuss it later." It seemed that ’he’ had already done a lot of things.
Li Si stayed out of the conversation, deciding to quietly play the wallflower.
Since he’d said Lu Zhenghang was asleep, there was no point in her worrying. The decision rested with the Leng Mochen in front of her now.
"The car accident back then wasn’t an accident," Leng Mochen said abruptly, dropping a bombshell.
Long Wu, in mid-daydream about profit, hadn’t even swallowed his sip of wine before spitting it out, spraying the coffee table. Luckily, no one else got caught in the splash zone.
Long Wu accepted a tissue from Li Si with a grumpy look and dabbed the corners of his mouth. "Leng Er, this isn’t funny!" Original content can be found at novel✶fire.net
His image as a suave and elegant man had taken a serious hit, though thankfully the only person here to witness it was Sisi.
If Meng Meng had been here, it would’ve been even more embarrassing!
"Alright, explain this. What exactly happened?"
Leng Mochen was about to answer when the door to the room swung open, and Xu Er and Heizi finally made their entrance.
As soon as they arrived, the group was flooded with a wave of banter. Xu Er, especially, was unusually excited—Leng Er had finally remembered him!
"Leng Er, you’ve finally remembered me!" Xu Er’s tone carried a hint of emotion.
It had been years, and all the absurd and shady things they’d done together were etched only in his memory. What fun was that?
Leng Mochen frowned. "Get lost! You think I’d forget you?" This little troublemaker was up to no good again—he’d settle the score with him later after dealing with more pressing matters.
When Heizi heard that Leng Mochen had regained his memories and remembered who was behind his car accident, he immediately perked up, all his senses on high alert. (To be continued.
