Chapter 333: Chapter 333
Li Si went back to have a bite to eat, and then fell asleep. Ever since getting pregnant, she’s been constantly sleepy lately—sleeping for what feels like half a day each time.
Leng Mochen lay beside her protectively for a while, but eventually, when a phone call came in, he reluctantly tucked her in with a thin blanket before heading out to answer it.
By the time Li Si had rested enough and opened her eyes, it was already quite late. Turning her head to look at the night sky outside the window, she yawned. Wow, she really could sleep. She switched on the bedside lamp and glanced at her watch—it was already 9 p.m.
She got out of bed, slipped on her shoes, and heard some noise coming from the study. Pushing the door open, she was surprised to see Long Wu and Xu Er there! Leng Mochen waved her over with a smile, and Li Si sat down beside him, her hand instantly captured in his large palm.
Her just-woken-up, lazy demeanor was undeniably endearing—at least in Leng Mochen’s eyes. He suddenly regretted letting these two intruders into the house. Biggest mistake ever. New ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄhapters are published on novel•fire.net
Long Wu grinned cheekily as his gaze flickered to Li Si’s belly. "Sisi, you’re awake now? We’ve been waiting half the day for you!"
"You guys arrived early?" Li Si asked sheepishly, smoothing down her hair. She hadn’t expected guests at home—if she had known, she definitely would’ve brushed her hair before coming out.
Xu Er eyed her curiously. "Your belly still doesn’t look big? Honestly, you seem to have gotten skinnier instead?"
"I keep throwing up!" Li Si replied helplessly. Not that she wanted to be thinner—she was eating plenty! But sometimes, not long after eating, she’d end up vomiting everything out.
She had asked the doctor about it, and they’d said it was normal to experience vomiting during the first three months. After that, it supposedly gets better, with food tasting delicious again.
Li Si eagerly looked forward to that magical three-month mark.
Leng Mochen glanced at Li Si’s delicate little face sympathetically—she’d really been enduring so much. Forget it, he thought, one child is enough. Pregnancy seemed far too much of an ordeal.
Xu Er watched as the two of them exchanged tender gazes, as if unaware of everyone else around them, and couldn’t help silently grumbling. He and Long Wu had called as soon as they heard Leng Er was back in town, but no matter how they coaxed, this guy wouldn’t leave the house. In the end, they had to come over personally.
They’d thought he must be busy with something big, shut indoors . Turns out it was just because he couldn’t bear to let Li Si stay home alone.
This girl really has it good!
But then, thinking of Bai Shasha, Xu Er chuckled to himself. He hoped someday he could dote on her the same way—if she’d only give him the chance.
Long Wu, unable to tolerate Xu Er’s lovesick expression, gave him a shove. "Daydreaming again, are you?"
Long Wu, ever cheerful, laughed it off and didn’t get angry. He turned his attention back to Li Si and suggested, "Sisi, you’ve just woken up—are you hungry? Brother Wu can take you out for something delicious. Want to go?"
The mention of food actually made Li Si feel a little hollow in her stomach. "Sure, why not!"
"But just the four of us isn’t fun. Call Meng Meng and Shasha, invite them along—it’ll be livelier with a crowd!"
Long Wu spoke casually, while Xu Er stared down at his polished shoes. Li Si and Leng Mochen exchanged a knowing glance before bursting into laughter.
So that’s it—clearly the ulterior motive wasn’t about grabbing dinner at all. No wonder they’d come looking for them!
Oh well—after all, she missed those girls too. So, they called Meng Meng and Shasha to make plans, and the group set off in the car to pick them up.
First stop was Su Meng. She was already waiting downstairs, and as soon as she saw them, she bypassed Long Wu’s car, which had just come to a stop, and hurriedly climbed into Li Si’s vehicle instead.
Her actions left Long Wu sitting in his car feeling rather irked. What is Meng Meng’s deal?
Ever since some point recently, Su Meng had consistently found excuses—big or small—not to meet him for outings.
He got it—Su Meng had finally secured a career she cared deeply about, and of course she wanted to achieve success and do her best.
After all, Li Si had entrusted her with so much while she was away, naturally Su Meng wanted to handle everything with utmost dedication.
But still, that shouldn’t interfere with their time together, right? If it weren’t for trying to use this excuse to bring her out, he wouldn’t have had the nerve to come bother Leng Er and Sisi alongside Xu Er. Wasn’t Leng Er’s earlier resentful glance self-explanatory?
What was he doing wrong? Long Wu found himself reflecting.
From the rearview mirror, Leng Mochen took a quick glance at the back seat, frowning thoughtfully. So that explains it—Long Wu had been oddly proactive about coming over today. Even chasing him down here despite rejections.
Turns out it was because he and Su Meng were in the middle of a spat. Looks like Long Wu’s quest to win her heart wasn’t going so smoothly!
Li Si, getting straight to the point, asked, "Meng Meng, are things alright with you and Brother Wu? Why aren’t you in his car?"
Her instincts told her something was up. Considering she’d been away for a while, the two of them should’ve been rapidly growing closer—utterly inseparable, even.
But no, this vibe wasn’t right. Not right at all!
A trace of awkwardness flickered across Su Meng’s face. She turned to Li Si with a bright smile and replied, "We’re totally fine! I was just missing you and wanted to chat for a bit. You’ve been in North City for so long—don’t tell me you’ve forgotten all about Simeng?"
