Chapter 32: Chapter 32
IF LOVE IS TRUE IT WILL FIND A WAY
It’s been a few weeks now that she’s back in Manila. With the help of her friend Margarita, she was able to find a house to live in. She’s also able to find a job as a supervisor in a shoe factory. So far, her life turned into another rollercoaster and this time, its back to being mundane. It’s peaceful, away from all the chaos that had happened from the past.
Though while she’s away from everything, she couldn’t help but feel like something is missing in her life. She’s been thinking of Jethro all this time even when she’s trying to move on and forget all about him for all these weeks. She shook her head. It might have been just happening because the wound is still fresh. The pain from yesterday hasn’t finished healing yet. In time, she’ll be able to forget about him.
Cassandra suddenly flinched when she noticed how everyone was in chaos. They were too noisy and murmuring among each other as if they were talking about something—someone. She was busy checking some papers on her desk when she finally asked someone. “What’s happening?” she asked.
“I think you need to go outside,” the woman answered while giggling. “There’s someone so damn handsome looking for you,” the person added and even teasingly hit her with his elbow. She thinks she knows who the person is. She promptly walked towards the place; she’s all nervous thinking that she’ll finally meet Jethro again.
When her office mates noticed her, they immediately made way for her. She walked directly towards the person and as soon as she saw him, her heart skipped a beat.
The man stood there like some statue that was carved by a god. He’s so damn attractive. He was wearing long sleeves and tuck in pants partnered by office shoes. His hair was combed from the front to the back, carrying dozens of roses while looking at her with all smiles. She tried to contain her exciting.
“What are you doing here?” she asked, acting disappointed.
“I came here to see you,” he started. “After what happened, you didn’t even explain anything to me. You just left me alone in the darkness. You didn’t even let me choose if I still wanted you by my side or not,” he continued. His eyes were full of regrets. “My dad explained it all to me. I wanted to say thank you and sorry for everything.”
“And, what do you want?” Cassandra raised her eyebrow followed by crossing her arms.
“I want you back, Cas. I want you in my life. I want you to spend your whole life with me. I want to wake up beside someone as beautiful as you, to see you at the afternoon and even before we go to bed. I want to spend everything with you, to laugh with you, share our dreams and problems together.” Cassandra didn’t expect him to say those words. He was full of sincerity.
Jethro approached her and grabbed her wrist. He closed his eyes and gently kissed the back of her hand.
“I don’t want to go back to the same life before, Jeth,” she stared at him. “I want to live my life peacefully, can you even promise that?” she asked.
“I don’t want to promise you a life without any obstacles and trials. I don’t want you to hope a life with only peacefulness but I also don’t want to let go of you. I can’t promise you the first one but I can guarantee you that I will always stay by your side. I will be right next to you and love you as much as I can. I’ll surpass the things I can’t do before. I would try… no I would do and give it my best to cherish you and be the man for you.” Jethro kissed her but this time on her cheeks.
Her tears rolled down her eyes. She couldn’t contain the emotions inside of her now. Her heart might burst any moment with the surreal happiness she’s feeling inside.
“I know that love doesn’t choose places but I will love you, Jeth. From here until the end, I will choose to continue loving you. I will choose to stand by your side and be the woman for you,” she said in between her tears and then initiated the kiss. Jethro couldn’t help but smile, he was finally able to taste her lips again.
The crowd started applauding. They closed their eyes and savored the kiss they shared. Their heart seemed to find each other now and felt like they were floating in air.
After a while, Jethro broke from their kiss. “And for the most important part,” Jethro motioned to kneel down in front of her and picked out a single tulip from the bouquet of roses. He opened the petals one by one and removed a pink diamond from inside. Cassandra couldn’t help but be drunk from all the happiness she’s been feeling. Her tears welled up continuously while waiting for him. “I don’t want to be away from you anymore. I don’t want you to stray anywhere other than my side. I don’t know what I might do if you’re not the person I’m going to marry. I’ll end my days calling you my woman instead I want to call you my wife from today and beyond.” He positioned himself well in front of her, hoping that she would accept him. “Will you marry me?” Cassandra wiped out the tears and her eyes and smiled sweetly at her man.
“I’ll never go astray far away from you anymore. I also wanted to spend the rest of my life with you, with every minute and every second,” she started. “Yes, I will marry you.” She gave her hand to him and slowly he wore the ring on her ring finger. They embraced each other into a tight hug.
They sealed every confession and feeling with a kiss. It all started when she did a simple dare, her heart became broken on the process and now, she ended up agreeing to spend the rest of her life with him.
