Chapter 23: Chapter 23

Quote to Remember:

"And do you think your marriage will continue?"

Cassandra's

Without hesitation, Jethro pulled her down the stairs. Her heart was pounding. That was as fast as the groups of horses that preceded the race. Her feet just weighted double. She is like a stone that does not want to lift. She wanted to escape the scene as soon as possible. She wanted the red carpet to devour her in embarrassment and if that was not enough, she wanted to stare in front of Don Fructose.

His glares made her feet numb. Add to that its frowning forehead and the sudden grit she saw on the old man's teeth. It was as if she wanted to be eaten alive. She shuddered in shock as it fell back sitting on the sofa.

She wanted to run away but Jethro's hands were hard headed. It does not want to run away from him. His fingers chained on her pulse and when she tried to stab him, his grip on her hand tightened even more.

Then to the next scene, she collated was Jillian's eyes. Her eyes were the same as Don Fructose’s. She could see fire on her eyes, enough to burn her. Her hands crossed her chest and even though she did not say what she was thinking, she was definitely playing with her brain how she got to the mansion.

Cassandra turned her gaze to Don Fructose. Crossing eye with it added even more excitement to her chest. She shook Jethro's hands. She seeks strength so that she will not fall and so that she can cope with what happens next is this what she is saying. Her arrival and her desire to stay in Jethro's life will only bring trouble but she did not let go. For the land, heart and Jethro's sake she will remain standing until the last moment. She will not allow all her hard work to go to waste.

"You're really something else Cassandra." Jillian's sarcastic lead.

"You know this woman?" Don Fructose’s brows waved much more.

"Yes Tito. Unfortunately, it looks like this woman preceded me in introducing her. Its good thing Jethro brought her here. She's the one I wanted to tell you about." Jillian said and sipped the juice.

"Can you please fucking shut up?"

Cassandra was even more surprised and backed away, when Don Fructose sprayed Jethro with a glass of drink. His mother approached him and stripped him of his clothes but he pulled the mother away from him. His eyes were lifeless, as if he was not shaken by what his father had done and holding it in her hands did not fail. The tightness were still the same.

-

"Never insult Jillian! You are going crazy! You brought shame to this family?" Don Fructose’s voice was loud. Perhaps the only one not only nervous about shouting it was Jethro. All of them are trembling especially her and Donya Trinidad.

"Let that woman out before I order the guards to shoot her!"

"No!" The more frightening Don Fructose’s voice was, the more frightened Jethro's voice would have been.

"I said let that woman out! Or I will take your mother!" Don was already standing on the sofa.

Cassandra was very startled. She could not bear Donya Trinidad to be involved in such things. She saw how important it was to the man. With one hand, she held the young man's hand to pierce its grip on him. I looked at it.

"Jethro please, don't make this hard for your mother. Don't worry I'm just outside." She said almost in a whisper.

"Shit!"

"Just trust me." It sighed deeply before he release her. When her hand was free, she did not hesitate to make her way out of the mansion. She went to the garden without looking back. Her eagerness to escape there was successful, but half of her feelings was left inside. She felt sorry for her and was afraid of what would happen.

Cassandra saved some air. She calmed hwe beating heart. He continued on to the cradle where the tulips burns. He sat there and sniffed the air to restore the normal throbbing of his chest.

This is what she entered for and the consequences are now starting to hunt he but those consequences were not enough to break her will and courage. She will be victorious and she will not go home without Jethro. The land and the wedding.

That peaceful was short-lived. Jillian emerged from somewhere and next thing she did know it was next to her. She stood up to escape it. She did not want to fight enough that she had seen before.

"Where are you going Cassandra? Are you planning to run away and turn your back on the tire you started? How rude." She said. She stopped and faced it. Her hands crossed as she stepped closer to her.

"How thick is your face to come here Cassandra. You don't really choose a place to loiter anymore? You even preceded me in reporting to Don Fructose that Jethro was having an affair with another woman. How pitiful." It scanned herfrom head to toe.

"But you'd better be here too. It is good that Don Fructose sees and knows you personally. He wants to be aware of which snake and gold digger who wash his son."

-

Cassandra heard enough. She was at the end of her restraint and she will not allow it to overtake her. If the woman is looking for a fight with her, she will give her what she asked for.

"Don't start with me Jillian. You will not like what I have to say. You might want to see me get rid of the delicacy and forget that we are in the mansion."

"Really Cassandra? You still have that word. As far as I know, you have no such principle since you immersed yourself in Jethro's life. You look like a leech!"

"Snake, leech ... call me what you want I will accompany you in finding my code name but be careful Jillian. I hope the snake and the lizard you say are in the forest. The last thing you know I have sucked By the way, you have everything and I have already seized your belongings. "

"Damn you Cassandra! Damn you!"

Cassandra did not respond to the girl's scolding. She cleared her throat.

"It's better to call someone like you Cassandra a third party. Oh well, because we will get married anytime soon. Much better if you fit?"

"And do you think your marriage will continue?"

"W-what did you say?" Its forehead furrowed.

"You are not deaf Jillian. Do you think your marriage will continue? You are highly educated, but you’re dumb when it comes to love. Do not count the eggs while it has not yet hatched Jillian."

"And why Cassandra. What do you know about love? To dive in? To be the national team? Curses! Shame on you! Try to stop our wedding Cassandra and you'll be tasting hell six feet under."

"Go on, I'm not scared." Cassandra answered casually.

"What? How dare you! The thickness of your face!"

"Do you think you can just scare me lightly? I have my reason's to stay and if Jethro wants me to stay, I will stay. Another, why are you driving me away. As far as I know, Jethro told me that you do not care about him. Your wedding is just a business deal. "

"That's before bitch! That is before. I learned to love Jethro overtime. And I won't let you keep straying on our wedding march."

They are the same as Jillian. They both love Jethro but she also had no intention of leaving.

"So are you working on a way to sell the land quickly?"

"You're smart Cassandra. There is no need for euphemism. I want you to get out of Jethro's path and I don't care if I kill you. So be careful Cassandra. If I get the chance you will miss me."

She wailed. She smirked. She does not just oppress.

"Try your luck then. I will never leave Jethro's side. So you can just weave your cheap threats to scare me."

-

"Cheap threats? Huh! Let's just see if you can still move on to what you say cheap threats. Let's just see who will be the last woman standing. And claps on me, because I'll make sure of that. Checkmate."

"Okay, I'll wait for that Jillian. I just hope you won't be disappointed. As far as you can see, you're one step behind me. So you're still good enough to challenge me." She laughed out loud. She saw the smoke of its nose.

"We've been talking for a long time Cassandra. I'll save my slaps for you next time for more strength and pain. I still have a lot to do with you."

"All right if that's what you want. So, let's go inside the mansion together?" She threw an irritating smile at her.

"W-what!"

"I already told you Jillian that I will not give up. She smiled." So, let's go. "It was irritating that she walked in, she followed it.

She stopped entering and hid on the side of the door. She could clearly see how Don Fructose’s hand flew over Jethro's face. Very strong and she felt the pain as if it were an extension of her intestines.

Jethro's ....

Jethro noticed how his father's mouth watered as he faced her. Her mother couldn't move as well. It was behind him and waiting for what would happen next.

It would be nice if Cassandra was not next to him now. He did not want to feel it in the middle of the fight. Jillian stood up and it came out as well. Her mother barely breathed behind him.

"You are really ungrateful! After giving you a luxurious life, this is what you will repay me for! I did not let you study in America just to bring shame to this family!"

"What are you talking about? This wealth? That fucking position in the company? I don't need that! All I want is for you to stop toying me and my mother!"

"S-son that's enough."

"No Mom, this old hag needs to stop!" His father slapped him again but he did not budge. The few times his father did that to him he seemed to be immune. After all, he was a bastard, and an outsider like him would naturally receive that.

"And you have some nerves to answer me! You are not on my little finger, yet you demanded freedom and respect? If you really want to respect me, follow what I say."

"Fuck you!" He cursed.

"Don't curse on me! You might be forgetting what is your mother and your place here! I could easily throw you out!"

"Then do it! I'm not scared!"

"S-son please ..." He saw the tears in his mother's eyes. It was as if a pin had pierced his heart.

-

"See you're mother can't even leave me and you're so proud! The best thing is just follow me Jethro! Marry Jillian." He turned to Jillian who had just entered. It sat in front and seemed indifferent to what was happening while sipping coffee.

"That's crazy."

"Are you going to marry Jillian or am I going to make hell the life of your mother, you and that woman."

"Tsk. You sound like a kid."

He came out quickly. He found Cassandra on the side of the door. He passed it, but when he was in front of the car door he looked back.

Cassandra saw a broken puzzle in Jethro's eyes. He was surprised to see her on the side of the door. She didn't know that the young man's family was so complicated. His father forcing him to marry Jillian and the root of all that chaos is her. His life has been in turmoil since she came. Just because she wanted to save the land, she ruined the man's peaceful life.

"You're another one! You did nothing but tolerate your bastard son! Both of you have guts to embarrass me in front of Jillian!"

She heard Donya Trinidad sob but what stride much on her ears was the word "bastard" was she right?

"T-tito that's right! It's okay Mom and Dad are in the States, they don't need to know." She heard Jillian's voice. She peeked again and saw the rushing ascent of the weeping Donya Trinidad.

Jethro called her to ride and drive them. The rest of the trip was silent. No one wants to talk to each of other. Until Jethro stopped on the highway they still not talk.

"C-Cas ..." She was about to leave when Jethro wristed her. "I-if you heard something, I hope you will not be affected." Cassandra reached out his hands. She sighed.

"We're both tired Jeth. A lot has happened today. It's better if we talk about it another day." In addition, without a moment she got out of the car. The young man did nothing but watch her until it was completely dark.

It would be better for Cassandra to think about it first. Her brain is confused. She felt sorry for Jethro and Donya Trinidad but when she stops everything, they will be miserable. Gosh! Why is Donya Trinidad still enduring Don Fructose. What is the reason for the martyrdom of Donya? and why does Don Fructose treat Jethro horribly? He treats her like a child and bastard? Did she hear right?

Many questions are playing on his brain.
