Chapter 73: Chapter 73

When Greg drops me home, the first thing I do, which I have been dreading ever since the accident, is go into jade's room. Nobody goes in here so it'll be a perfect place to make my plan.

I've never felt this way before, this consumption of anger and taste for revenge.

I take all of Jade's posters off and clear the wall over her desk. I put up a sketch of the guy with the anchor tattoo and of the blond guy. I'm missing one more guy. I put a question mark where his picture would've gone. I then write all the memories that were returned to me and try to organize them in order of events.

Although I'm pretty sure this anger inside of me will allow me to do many things, I still need help.

I call Connor and in 20 minutes he's at my house. There's a knock on the door. When I open the door, I see Greg holding onto Connor.

"Mia, who is this guy? Can you please tell him I know you"

The site of this makes me giggle.

I tell him I invited him over and both Greg and Connor enter the apartment.

Greg goes to his favourite place, the couch, and Connor follows me into Jade's room.

"Holy cow! Mia what the hell is this?" He says gesturing at the wall I've turned into my hunt for jade's killers.

"Connor I need your help."

I tell him what happened to me and how jade's killers are roaming around free. After a lot of pleading, he agrees to help. I take up jade's computer and we get to work.

Her Facebook is already signed into her account, so I look through all her messages. After, I go through her Twitter, Instagram and her blog. The amount of fans she had, especially from guys. I scroll through all of her online messages and Connor hacks into her iCloud in search for all her deleted iMessages.

"Who's D?"

I look up from the computer. "I don't know why?"

"Because she's been texting him and deleting all the messages."

"Can you see the messages?"

"Sure, it'll take a bit of time to recover them."

I look through her Facebook in search of any guy with the first name that starts with D. There's too many. How I'm I going to narrow this down?

I try to see if I can find a face to match one of the suspects. Nothing.

I don't think she knows the guys who killed her. I'm pretty sure if they knew her, if they actually took the time to get to know her, they would've never killed her.

I find a message on her email.

"Hello Jay,

I look forward to seeing you at the meeting tomorrow.

-D"

This message was from 6 months ago.

Who was D?

I look through more messages. That's the only one from D. The rest are unimportant.

I finally decide to take a break.

"Do you want a sandwich?" I ask Connor.

I look over and he's so into what he's doing, I don't think he heard me. He has two computers and on the screen is a whole bunch of random numbers and letters. Well to me it is. I was always so intrigued by the way he hacked things.

I decide to just make him a sandwich anyways.

I head to the kitchen and pass by Greg on the couch sleeping like he often does. While making a sandwich, I accidentally drop a knife.

"You alright Mia?" It's Greg. Damn, he's a light sleeper.

"Yeah," I tell him and he falls back asleep. I tip toe back to Jade's room.

"I brought you a sandwich" Connor takes it from my hands, his eyes are still focused on the computer.

"Thanks" he murmurs.

After eating my sandwich halfway, I hear a bang on the computer keys.

"Bingo!" He hits print and 15 pages print out.

"Here's all the phone activity between her and D! There are a few phone calls, those I couldn't get though."

I look at the papers Connor printed.

"Oh my God!" Slips out of my mouth. The messages that I'm seeing right now.

Jade: 'I'm sick of your excuses. It's been 2 months since you promised me you'd leave her.'

D: 'You know it takes time. Maybe we should wait until you've finished school. You only have one semester left.'

Jade: 'when I'm done school, you're still gonna make these excuses.'

D: 'I promise I won't. I love you. Believe me.'

Jade had a boyfriend and didn't tell me about it. Well, he was married so I really don't blame her. I can't believe this. I skim through the rest of messages.

Jade: what I'm I supposed to do now? I just told you I'm pregnant and all you can say is: we'll figure this out. What does that even mean? I'm not raising this child by myself.

D: there's other options. If you're not ready, you don't have to have this child

Jade: I didn't say I wasn't ready, I just said I didn't want to raise the child by myself. If you leave your wife, we can be together. We can raise this child together.

D: we already talked about this. I gotta go. I'll call you after work.

We need to figure out who this D person is.

"Is there a way we can figure out who this is ?" I ask Connor.

"I was able to get the number off of her iCloud storage contact list. Here's the number"

I dial the number in my phone. Here it goes. It rings 8 times until finally...

"Hello, you've reached the phone of Daniel Hoskins. I'm unavailable at the moment. Leave your name and number and I'll contact you back as soon as possible."

I hang up quickly.

Daniel Hoskins. His name sounds so familiar. I quickly grab my laptop and type in his name. Dean Daniel Hoskins appear. Dean? Dean. Oh my goodness!

"What?" Connor asks.

"D is Dean Daniel Hoskins. As in the Dean of our university..."

Jade was dating the Dean of our school. Even though this information shocked me at first, I'm not surprised. Jade always did find powerful men attractive, and of course, they found her attractive also.

But she was pregnant by him? That's what surprised me the most. Jade was always on the pill. How could she be pregnant... Holy shit.

She wanted to get pregnant, so he'd leave his wife. It would've been a good plan if she didn't die because of it.

Did the Dean order these hits? Did he hire people to kill Jade? But why would he want me dead as well?

There were so many questions and so little answers.

"What do we do now?" Connor asks me.

I really haven't thought passed this part. I honestly didn't think we'd find Jade's baby daddy so quick. I don't understand. It took Connor three hours to find something the police's been spending two weeks trying to find. Something doesn't seem right. I go to the living room and wake Greg up. After I barely touch is arm, he's up and alert.

"Did they update you on Jade's killers yet?" I ask him.

"When I called in yesterday, they told me they might have found some information on the guy you ID'd. Apparently someone reported that they saw a guy with an anchor tattoo buying lottery tickets. But nothing since then. "

I call detective Chandler and it goes straight to voicemail. I leave him a message.

A shiver goes down my body. There's something wrong here.

I decide maybe I should take a trip to the police station, I haven't been able to get a hold of Chandler since the sketch. I need to see what's up.

"Greg, can we pass by the police station?"

He agrees, saying something about him having to check in anyways.

Me and Connor get into Greg's car. First stop is driving Connor home. Even though he insists on coming with me, I convince him to go home. I haven't figured what's going on yet, and I don't want to put him in this situation even more.

After we drop Connor home, I ask him to make a few more stops. The first one is at a garden where they sell flowers. I buy 3 roses and hop back in the car. 7 minutes and we're at our next stop. I ask Greg to give me ten minutes and he stays in the car.
