Chapter 736: Chapter 736
The Kunpeng Demon Master halted in his steps, speaking gravely, "Emperor Haotian, what brings you here?"
The Buddha gathered himself and quickly brought his hands together in prayer, gratefully saying, "Thank you, Emperor Haotian, for the rescue." His heart was deeply moved! Never did he expect his savior to be Emperor Haotian himself. He was truly touched, so much so that he decided, once Buddhism flourished, he would still leave a sliver of survival space for the Heavenly Court to repay today’s kindness.
Emperor Haotian chuckled, "Buddha, don’t be in a hurry to thank me."
Looking toward the Kunpeng Demon Master, he said, "Fellow Daoist, you’ve had your fight and let off some steam. How about handing this person over to me first?"
"Give me a reason!" the Kunpeng Demon Master calmly looked at Emperor Haotian, truly not wishing to clash with this Emperor Haotian if it wasn’t necessary.
Crackling sounds came as Emperor Haotian flexed his fingers, saying, "This incident has far-reaching implications, but it all started with Buddhism acting rashly and arrogantly.
Now, Buddhism is slandering, claiming it was Emperor Gouchen of the Heavenly Court who conspired to trap them, shirking responsibility and defaming the emperor, naturally, there must be a price to pay. Does this reason suffice?"
The Kunpeng Demon Master nodded, saying, "Naturally, it does!" His figure vanished into the Chaos.
The Buddha looked toward Emperor Haotian with utter despair. Another one shows up as soon as one leaves. Not wanting to struggle any longer, he brought his hands together in prayer, sincerely saying, "Your Majesty, can you please not hit my face!" Read complete versıon only at novel⚑fire.net
"Sure thing!" A fist unfurled before the Buddha.
"Ah~" A scream echoed through the Chaos.
Within Yuxu Palace, Bai Jin shook his head, sighing, "How tragic!"
Several days passed in the mortal world before the battered Buddha could return to Spiritual Mountain.
Randeng Buddha, Maitreya Buddha, Guanyin Bodhisattva, Universal Virtue Bodhisattva, Manjusri Bodhisattva, and the Joyful Buddha, among others, were already waiting, as the great battle in the Chaos came to an end.
Suddenly, a Great Sun burst forth above Spiritual Mountain. The Great Sun beamed Infinite Golden Light, dazzling and blinding, with only a vague silhouette of a great figure sitting cross-legged within the sun, everything else obscured.
All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas stood erect and hastened to pay their respects, bowing, "We pay homage to the Buddha!"
Guanyin Bodhisattva, Universal Virtue Bodhisattva, Manjusri Bodhisattva, and the Great Sun Tathagata, Joyful Buddha, and other Buddha Bodhisattvas, although injured and bruised, were faring much better than the Buddha.
Despite the vast and mighty scope of this great battle, not a single Quasi-Saint level Buddha or Bodhisattva perished. For a Quasi-Saint, carrying the word ’saint’ implies they have a hint of saintly prowess, with the Primordial Spirit linked to the Tao, making them extremely difficult to kill.
To slay a Quasi-Saint, one must destroy not just the physical body but also suppress a kind of Tao and obliterate the Quasi-Saint’s Primordial Spirit. It is easy to defeat a Quasi-Saint, but slaying one is extremely difficult.
Among all Buddhas, only Randeng Buddha and Maitreya Buddha, both also of the Two Corpses Quasi-Saint level, could see through the golden light and behold the Buddha’s condition. Both Buddhas shuddered all over, their hearts twinging. What exactly had the Buddha encountered to be beaten so miserably, his cultivation unable to fully heal him?
The Buddha looked around him, within the sacred Spiritual Mountain, where the Buddha Light that always shone had disappeared, the ceaseless chanting of Sanskrit also vanished, the entire Holy Land of Spiritual Mountain was stained with blood, as if the end of days had come upon all Buddhas.
"Namo Amitabha Buddha~" the grand Buddhist chant resonated between Heaven and Earth.
Spiritual Mountain abruptly shone with brilliant light, as Buddha Light glittered atop each peak. Believers and monks emerged from their hiding places, all kneeling on the ground, with the sound of Sanskrit chanting reverberating between Heaven and Earth.
On the ruins of the Great Leiyin Temple, many Buddhas and Bodhisattvas also brought their palms together and chanted, "Namo Amitabha Buddha~" The Buddha’s name echoed between Heaven and Earth, as Buddha Light swept out to purge the filth left by the Study Sea and disperse the lingering murderous aura and Study Sea blood mist on Spiritual Mountain, as well as the aura of slaughter from Heaven and Earth.
The dignified and vast voice of The Buddha resonated between Heaven and Earth: "Since ancient times, where there is Yin, there must be Yang; where there is orthodoxy, there must be evil. Yin and Yang embrace each other, calamity and fortune are interdependent. Great prosperity is always accompanied by great tribulation.
This is the last tribulation before the great rise of our Buddhism. The tribulation has passed, and all beings in the heavens shall welcome the resurgence of Buddhism."
All Arhats, monks, Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas on Spiritual Mountain shook off their previous decline, offering their joyous veneration: "Namo Amitabha Buddha, praise to our Master, The Buddha."
"Buddhas and Venerables of the Cycle, return to your positions, each to your own duties."
"By the Dharma Decree!" The commanding voice echoed over Spiritual Mountain.
All the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Arhats took their places. Quasi-Saint Level powerhouses on the ruins of the Great Leiyin Temple also brought their palms together in respect, their figures faintly dispersing into nothingness, as they retreated into their sanctuaries for healing, now too ashamed to face others.
The brilliantly golden The Buddha descended upon the ruins, casually applying an illusion spell to Himself so that from the outside, He looked just as before, dispelling the golden light.
Duo Bao Tathagata looked at the disheveled peaks of Spiritual Mountain, grinding his teeth furiously in secret; fighting is one thing, but what skill is there in wrecking a home? My Great Leiyin Temple is gone!
But no matter, out with the old and in with the new. Buddhism is on the verge of a major rise, and the previous Great Leiyin Temple was indeed a bit modest. I shall build a new and more magnificent Great Leiyin Temple to showcase the majestic rise of Buddhism.
The collapse of the Great Leiyin Temple means that its broken materials must have been collected by Anan and Kashyapa. Good job, these materials can be reused.
The Buddha’s grand voice rang out: "Anan, Kashyapa~"
Two beams of Buddha Light shot forth, landing before The Buddha, transforming into the figures of Anan and Kashyapa.
Anan and Kashyapa brought their palms together and respectfully said, "We pay homage to The Buddha!"
The Buddha revealed a smile, which instantly brought a sharp pain over his face, his skin twitched momentarily.
The Buddha spoke: "Buddhism has faced a Blood Tribulation, and the shattering of the Great Leiyin Temple is fate. While I and the many Buddhas and Bodhisattvas were combating the Demon, you managed to collect the fragments of the Great Leiyin Temple, which is good. I am comforted in my heart."
Anan and Kashyapa exchanged glances.
Anan Venerable softly said, "Reporting to The Buddha, when Spiritual Mountain was under siege, we were putting all our effort into fending off the Asura and did not collect the fragments of the Great Leiyin Temple."
The Buddha’s expression froze. If they did not collect the fragments of the Great Leiyin Temple, where did they go? These were made from Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures I have collected over countless years.
Kashyapa softly said, "The Buddha, not just the fragments of the Great Leiyin Temple, but also the ore veins, treasure vaults, Spiritual Springs, Purple Bamboo, the raised Buddha nature spiritual fish, Buddha Nature Livestock, and even your Medicine Field... The Scripture Pavilion, the vegetable garden, and so on, all have vanished."
"What?" The Buddha exclaimed in shock, and in a flash, His figure disappeared.
In the next moment, The Buddha appeared over an empty expanse of land, its stark barrenness a stark contrast to the surrounding scenery. This place was formerly brimming with the Buddhism’s treasures...no, it was where I treasured the mineral resources, but now, not to mention the mineral resources, even the treasury is gone.
