Chapter 90: Chapter 90

Seeing the girl lying on the floor, Alvaro let out a sigh of relief. But he didn’t like what the vampire had said.

First, since when had he been the vampire’s lover?

Second, he hadn’t come here to have sex.

Third, it was nobody’s business where he went.

That was reason enough for Alvaro to scowl. His chest felt tight, as if every word Vlad spoke stabbed at his pride. It felt like he was being toyed with, and Alvaro hated being in that position. He clenched his fists, holding himself back from cursing even louder.

He grumbled as he stood up. Why were so many things making him angry today?! His eyes darted toward the door, hoping to find a way out on his own. Unfortunately, that hope lasted only a few seconds. Before he could stand up straight, his body was suddenly lifted off the ground.

"H-hey! What are you doing?!" he shouted as he found himself slung over Vlad’s shoulder.

"Of course I’m taking you away from here," Vlad replied casually. His voice was calm, but there was a possessive edge that made Alvaro even more annoyed.

Vlad walked out, ignoring Alvaro’s screams and struggles, as well as the people who quickly stepped aside as he passed. It was as if he owned the entire place.

Alvaro kicked with all his strength. "Let me go! I can walk! Damn it!" he cursed loudly. He kept thrashing, even though he knew Vlad’s strength was far beyond his own.

The vampire didn’t seem bothered at all.

Alvaro looked up, searching for the four guards who had trapped him here. Despite his anger toward them, a small part of him hoped they would appear to help him now. At a time , he would rather face them than deal with Vlad.

But his eyes widened when they passed the bodies of the four unconscious guards, surrounded by onlookers in the front room. As Vlad carried him through, every head turned to stare.

Alvaro didn’t care about the people anymore. What happened to the guards?

"What’s wrong with them?!" Alvaro demanded. He was sure Vlad was responsible.

Vlad chuckled. "I didn’t kill them. They’ll wake up later," he said casually.

"What?! You hurt them?!" Alvaro shouted.

"Well, I didn’t like them standing outside the room while I had to look at you," Vlad replied.

Alvaro gaped in disbelief. What was this vampire thinking?

Still, his mind shifted back to himself. His heart skipped a beat as Vlad carried him away with such ease and speed. Everything blurred around him.

Where was Vlad taking him?!

The moon hung beautifully in the clear sky, and the air was hot. The atmosphere inside Huron’s residence was just as heavy, pressing down on everyone in the room.

The four guards stood facing him. Their bodies were bruised in several places, except Isla. Jin’s hands were swollen and blue, the skin a deep purple that hurt whenever he moved.

Huron looked at each of them in turn, his gaze sharp as if it could strip away any lies.

"So... you failed?" Huron asked. Fresh chapters posted on novelꞁire.net

"No, General. We managed to bring Alvaro there. We’re sure the girl we picked had already succeeded in distracting him. But suddenly a man appeared. His strength was overwhelming..." Jeremy explained.

He felt a pang of guilt. Huron had entrusted them with this special mission, to make Alvaro interested in a woman. They had been confident, but that confidence had crumbled in an instant.

The plan had collapsed halfway through. They had felt the stranger’s kick while eavesdropping outside the room. Their bodies had been flung far away, leaving them covered in bruises.

"We were knocked out. When we woke up, Alvaro was gone. According to witnesses, he was carried away by a tall man," Jin added, bowing his head in shame. They had been taken down with a single kick. The man’s strength was unreal, his hands felt broken.

Huron frowned. Judging from their condition, they weren’t lying. But who was this man? Was he one of Sylas’s guards? Huron was certain the prince had been secretly watching over Alvaro.

"That man... do you recognize him?" Huron asked cautiously. He had to avoid raising suspicion. They already knew Alvaro didn’t like women, but the truth about Sylas and Alvaro’s relationship had to remain hidden.

Frans shook his head quickly. "No, General. He wasn’t wearing a uniform or any insignia. But... his aura... it was strange. Not like an ordinary human."

"What should we do, General? We’ve lost Alvaro’s trail. He didn’t take his horse, so I’m sure that man carried him away," Jeremy said with concern.

Huron tapped his fingers slowly on the wooden table, each tap tightening the air in the room.

"He’s not one of Prince Sylas’s guards?" he asked again, his tone flat but edged with restrained worry.

The four exchanged glances. Jeremy shook his head. "We’ve never seen him at the palace. If he was one of the prince’s guards, we’d know."

"I see..." Huron turned away, eyes narrowing at the floor. He didn’t speak further, though his mind was already racing with possibilities.

If he’s not Sylas’s guard... then why did he take Alvaro? Who is he? And where is he taking him?

"Send the guards to track him down. I want to know who took him, and bring him to me!" Huron ordered, his voice sharp and final.

The four nodded and left immediately.

Huron’s thoughts churned. Could Alvaro be caught in a love triangle?

But what if this man was dangerous, someone who meant him harm? For a brief moment, guilt pricked at him for letting Alvaro leave the palace at all. He had only wanted to help, thinking maybe Alvaro could be distracted by a beautiful woman... and forget Sylas.

But deep down, he knew the truth. Those two couldn’t be separated so easily. They’d been together since childhood. Huron had tried to control Alvaro for too long, and now that guilt sat heavy in his chest.

And what had he achieved?

And now, Alvaro was gone.
