Chapter 84: Chapter 84

Kai let out a muffled scream as his body was suddenly pushed forward, feeling like he was floating in the air before landing on the table.

"Oh, M-Master..." Kai tried to stand, but he couldn’t move. Only his chest rose and fell irregularly.

Panic set in when he realized he couldn’t control his body. He stared at Amos, who stood between his legs, but he couldn’t even move his head.

"M-Master..." Kai groaned.

He felt something pressing against his lower back. It was as if he were lying on a black book on the table. He stared at the ceiling where the light was now dimmed by his body and could see his own silhouette there.

Kai didn’t know what to do. Fear overwhelmed him. His heart pounded violently. Was Amos going to rape him in this position?

Why couldn’t he move?

Kai stared at Amos, who was looking him over from head to toe, though the man turned his face away every time his gaze reached Kai’s lower abdomen.

Kai held his breath as Amos unbuttoned his shirt, exposing his chest. The cool air brushed against his skin.

Then he felt Amos’s warm hand on the upper part of his abdomen, right above his diaphragm. He tensed.

Kai’s eyes widened as Amos’s fingers pressed into that spot. Deeper and deeper. He held his breath.

"M-Master..." Kai whimpered weakly. He couldn’t breathe.

Just before he lost all air, Amos released his hand. Kai gasped, taking a deep breath.

He couldn’t think clearly as Amos circled around him, studying him with a frown. Kai was too scared to make a sound.

Did that man want to kill him?

Amos returned to his original position and pressed on Kai’s stomach again. As before, he let go just as Kai was about to stop breathing.

Then Amos looked at him with a frustrated, almost angry expression that only confused Kai more.

Kai focused on calming his breathing. He still couldn’t move.

Suddenly, Amos pulled him upright until he was sitting on the edge of the table. The man placed his hand gently against Kai’s chest.

Kai felt movement return to his hands. He inhaled deeply and glanced down at his arms and legs. He could move them again. Thᴇ link to the origɪn of this information rᴇsts ɪn NoveI[F]ire.net

He looked at Amos and bowed his head in fear. The man’s expression was still hard to read. What did he really want?

Amos took Kai’s hands to help him stand. He looked again at Kai’s chest, then stood in silence for a long time, brow furrowed as if in deep thought.

Finally, he gestured for Kai to button his shirt.

Kai obeyed, confused, until Amos suddenly pushed him against the wall. The man’s face was very close to his.

"Be quiet," Amos whispered into Kai’s ear, his voice deep and trembling.

Kai swallowed hard. He didn’t understand the command. Be quiet for what? But of course, he didn’t dare ask. He thought Amos might be warning him not to make a sound if he intended to rape him.

Instead, Amos walked away, grabbed his sword, and motioned for Kai to follow him out.

Kai was completely disoriented. He had no idea what had just happened.

When the door opened, the strange light vanished instantly. He glanced around before stepping out slowly.

His heart was still pounding. The memory of Amos’s hand pressing into his stomach was so vivid that the ache remained.

Kai touched the spot. It still hurt.

He walked slowly behind Amos, who led him through the garden to the edge of a pond.

The moon hung in the sky, half-covered by black clouds. The air was peaceful and still, and the plants around the pond swayed gently in the wind.

Kai gazed at the pond, where the rippling water reflected bits of moonlight. Beautiful...

He didn’t notice Amos’s eyes fixed on him.

Kai knelt at the edge of the pond to see more clearly. Amos silently watched his every move.

His own thoughts were tangled. He was still confused. Why hadn’t his spell worked on this slave?

Why couldn’t he mark Kai?

He folded his arms, his mind heavy with frustration. He had to act before the wizard Sylas was bringing arrived, or he would die.

Amos took a deep breath. He looked at Kai, who was playing with the water. He didn’t know where else to take him. Sylas had only told him to take the slave for a walk.

Amos turned away, remembering Kai’s innocent expression, and the part of his body Amos couldn’t forget. But more than that, Kai was the perfect subject for testing. Amos still needed to understand why his spell had failed.

Kai stared at the center of the pond, where the ripples were growing stronger. The moon had vanished completely. Drops of water landed there, hitting the surface.

Kai felt the drops touch his hands.

He gasped when suddenly his body was lifted. "Ugh!" he cried out as his stomach landed across Amos’s shoulders.

Kai’s body swayed with Amos’s quick strides until the knight set him down on the porch, safe from the rain.

Kai glanced back at the wet floor, then looked at Amos, who was still staring at him without expression. Amos turned away and looked toward the now heavy rain.

Kai watched several guards walk past, talking loudly to each other.

"Did you hear? A lot of people are possessed today?"

"I’m telling you, this palace is cursed. No human could kill like that without a weapon."

"Did you see their bodies? They’re black as if they’ve been cursed!"

"Can you shut up? You’re giving me the goosebumps!"

Kai heard them and wondered what they meant. Was the palace really cursed?

He didn’t have time to think further before Amos grabbed his hand and pulled him in another direction.

He saw a faint purple glow surrounding Amos’s hands. It wasn’t very bright, but Kai noticed it clearly. Still, he didn’t dare ask about it. He was too afraid.
