Chapter 178: Chapter 178
Serena looked at Vera and smiled, "Why do you think I’d choose to stay silent?"
Vera looked as if she had been struck over the head.
Beside her, Julian also frowned at the situation, was she toying with him?
After all, she had just said she needed money, didn’t that mean she was ready to compromise?
Serena merely looked at them calmly.
"Some things can’t be resolved with a simple sorry after they’re done."
No matter the initial intent or reasons, harm is harm.
"I won’t sell the copyright claim," Serena said, "If you insist on seeing me, then this is my answer."
Seeing Vera was about to say something, Serena smiled and said, "You were the ones who forced me to sell the song to you back then."
She paused slightly, looking at Vera, and continued, "I didn’t force you to infringe."
After saying this, Serena stood up and was about to leave with a smug Jasper Ford.
"Serena." Julian’s voice came from behind.
But Serena did not turn around.
"I hope you think it over," his voice continued from behind, "You’re quite talented, if this matter can be resolved smoothly, the Lawson Corporation can promise resources to support you."
The frog mascot just strode out of the meeting room.
Vera looked at that frog and was so angry her face twisted.
That woman saw their disagreement and tried to demand more!
Vera cast a glance at Julian.
What on earth was he doing!
"Let’s go back," Julian said.
Vera suppressed the look in her eyes, trying to appear aggrieved.
"Let’s not proceed with the drama, I’ll introduce you to other projects," Julian said, looking at the back of the frog, wondering what that woman was up to.
Perhaps for Julian, any project would do, but "Micro Love" was different for her.
Only if "Micro Love" was successfully aired and achieved great success could she completely suppress Serena and earn the Lawson Family’s recognition.
She had to think of a solution.
"To make someone doomed, you must first drive them mad," Serena explained to Jasper Ford.
People only have absolute faith in things they’ve painstakingly obtained through their own efforts.
If something comes too easily, it tends to be doubted instead.
Serena took off the mascot suit and looked at the sky outside.
"What are you looking at?" Jasper asked as he took off the frog costume, glancing at her bright side profile.
"The weather is nice today," she said.
Perfect for her first agreed meeting with Silas Hawthorne.
Jasper also looked up at the sky and nodded, "Indeed, it’s nice."
Later in the evening, Serena intentionally wore a blue dress.
As dusk fell, Silas’ car stopped downstairs at her rented apartment.
Then, under his nervous and expectant gaze, she got into his car, and they headed towards the port.
"I was a bit worried just now," Silas confessed only when they reached their final destination, "Afraid you would change your mind."
"How could I," Serena smiled as she looked at him.
She was, indeed, very much looking forward to it.
They got out of the car and walked to the restaurant for dinner.
The sunset at the port, where blue sea meets the orange sky, was truly beautiful.
The place they were dining at was further inside.
It was a place Silas had meticulously prepared for a long time.
As they walked in, they chatted.
Unbeknownst to them, a reporter was hidden in the shadows, constantly clicking away with the camera.
"I’ve heard Silas booked a restaurant to woo a mysterious woman, finally got them, take more pictures!"
"Yes, later disguise as a staff member to snap a picture of her face!"
On the other side, Serena and Silas navigated their way to a very secluded restaurant.
The restaurant had both an above-water and an underwater section.
He led her downwards.
Outside the adjacent transparent glass was a romantic underwater view, with various fish swimming leisurely by, until they reached their dining spot.
Once seated, Serena noticed several small fish lingering by their window.
Silas was talking to the chef about something while Serena curiously reached out to touch the glass beside her.
Those little fish, as if startled, fluttered their tails and swam away.
He gestured to the waiter to leave, then looked at her.
"Give me your hand," he said.
Serena thought for a moment and extended the hand she had just used to try to touch the fish.
He said, "Extend a finger." The source of thɪs content is 𝗻𝗼𝘷𝗲𝗹•𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮•𝕟𝕖𝕥
Serena obediently extended her index finger.
He reached over, holding her hand, gently guiding her finger to press against the glass.
Then, Serena was amazed to see that the fish seemed to be attracted by something, swimming eagerly towards her fingertip.
A variety of small fish rushed forward, as if her fingertip held some magical charm, swimming in swarms, creating a captivating scene in the tranquil sea.
The movement of the fish stirred the sea water, blending with the lighting of the underwater restaurant, giving a feeling of immersion in the sea.
"Do you like it?" his voice came through.
The glass was slightly cold, his palm warm and dry.
Serena turned to see Silas’ gentle smiling face and instinctively nodded.
"How is it done?" she asked curiously.
Silas released her hand, allowing her to see for herself.
She saw some kind of powder on her fingertip, sparkling with a faint glow.
"These fish are drawn to this glitter powder," he said.
Serena looked at her fingertip and touched another spot.
And successfully saw countless small fish swarming towards her again.
"It’s truly amazing," she murmured softly.
"Years ago, I encountered quite a few strange creatures in the sea," he said, "If you’re interested, I can tell you more later."
"Sure," Serena nodded.
While she often traveled abroad for business trips, most of those were on land, and their time at sea was scarce, mostly spent flying.
He began to talk to her about the interesting creatures and minerals he came across overseas.
Speaking of interesting things at sea.
And places she might not have visited during her business trips.
All of this made her feel at ease.
A relaxation she had never felt before.
No need to compete or connive, no need to overthink, just listen to him speak.
"Many years ago, I encountered a peculiar substance in Zetania, the locals there called it Raine," he said, "That night, I was on a boat by the shore, watching blue rain fall all night long, it was incredibly beautiful."
"Do you have any photos?" intrigued by his description, she asked longingly.
"I’ll take you to see it," he said, extending his hand toward her.
She looked at his open palm, hesitated slightly, then placed her hand in his.
He smiled and tightened his grip on her hand, leading her all the way up to the top.
By now, the sky outside had completely darkened.
As they climbed the steps, Serena saw it.
Just by the shore not far away, a small area under dim lights, blue rain was falling.
Not the blue of the sky, but a glow-in-the-dark, dreamy blue of the night.
Serena reached out, catching some ’rainfall,’ observing how it looked in her hand.
Like a dream from a fairy tale.
