Chapter 625: Chapter 625
At the hospital, outside another single room on the same floor, Wang Chao led a somewhat displeased Zhu Dandan away.
Meanwhile, inside that single room, Pan Bo, with both hands stuffed in his pockets, grimaced as he entered...
Pan Bo tentatively called out, cautiously poking his head into the room.
Upon leaning in and seeing that there were no family members inside, Pan Bo breathed a sigh of relief, exclaiming, "Ah, no one’s here! It’s so comfortable! Miao-ge!"
Being able to easily call Wen Miao "Miao-ge" brought comfort to Pan Bo.
And treating Wen Miao like one of the guys also comforted Pan Bo.
However, as Pan Bo approached the hospital bed, he was suddenly dumbstruck to find Wen Miao examining herself in a mirror.
Patches of her wounds on her neck and behind her ears had already started to scab over. She was lifting the gauze to inspect her wounds, which were no longer bleeding and healing nicely. Yet, she thought about the large area affected and wondered if it would leave a scar.
Pan Bo poked his head from her other side, peering into the mirror at her.
Wen Miao knew he had arrived, and merely glanced at him briefly, her mind still on her wounds, "Fatty, tell me, will this leave a huge scar?"
Pan Bo took a serious look at her wounds. The affected area was indeed quite large, almost like it was on her face...
"No worries, Miao-ge. A few scars are more societal! Good for inheriting your family’s martial arts gym!" Pan Bo said.
After speaking, Wen Miao punched him in the chest, angrily shouting, "Get lost!"
Unhurried and unbothered, Pan Bo chuckled and playfully nudged Wen Miao’s arm with his elbow, "Miao-ge, being such a tomboy, why care about such trifles? Huo Feng’s back is all scarred up from being burnt, the flesh was all rotten, especially his nape, super scary, but he doesn’t mind!"
"I’m not like him!" She is a girl!
Wen Miao thought angrily.
But knowing there was no point in arguing with Pan Bo, she decided to leave it.
Methodically, she covered the wound with gauze again, affixed it properly, then put down the mirror and turned to him, "Why are you here? To laugh at me?"
"How could I! I’m concerned about you!"
Pan Bo smiled and sat on Wen Miao’s bed. He then dug an apple out of his pocket, rubbed it with his hands, "Apple from Huo Feng’s room, I kept it warm all the way here, specially to honor Miao-ge."
Wen Miao looked at the apple with disdain, "You came to see me and didn’t even think to buy a fruit basket, but picked one up from someone else’s room? Isn’t that embarrassing?"
Despite saying so, Wen Miao still took the apple, not caring whether it was washed, and bit into it straight away.
The bright red apple was so sweet, it seemed like the sweetness could reach deep into one’s heart.
As Wen Miao chewed on the crisp apple, she looked up at Pan Bo’s agreeable round face and smiled.
"Sweet, isn’t it?" Pan Bo asked.
"Sweet," Wen Miao replied.
"Huo Feng always gets the good stuff. If you like it, I can go grab some more later," Pan Bo said with squinted eyes, smiling sincerely.
"Can’t you buy me a whole basket?" Wen Miao frowned disapprovingly.
"I’m a bit short on cash right now. I’ll play some games tonight, earn a bit of extra money, and buy you some."
Pan Bo replied with a smile, and while doing so, he took the mirror from Wen Miao and casually adjusted his hair.
Watching him from the side, Wen Miao bit her apple and couldn’t help but tsk, "Not so handsome and still so narcissistic."
"Not handsome, you say?"
Pan Bo retorted, elbowing her, "Hey, speaking with your flat chest there, my looks aren’t good enough? I’m just a bit burly. These features are nice! Not far behind Huo Feng!"
Wen Miao bit the apple and nodded, grudgingly responding, "That’s why you’re the budget version of Huo Feng. On your own, you’re not bad, but standing next to Huo Feng? Not so good-looking then." Updates are released by 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵✦𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮✦𝓷𝓮𝓽
"Hey, are you trying to stir trouble?"
Pan Bo raised a finger accusatorily at Wen Miao, "Huo Feng and I are on good terms! Your instigation won’t drive a wedge between us!"
Wen Miao found it amusing, "I’m clearly talking about your looks, not saying anything bad about Huo Feng. You’re the one changing the topic!"
"Enough, enough, Miao-ge. I look so much like Huo Feng, insulting me is like insulting him. If you dare say another word, I’m going to complain to him!" Pan Bo warned her.
Wen Miao puckered her lips defiantly, "Huo Feng wouldn’t admit you look like him anyway."
Pan Bo stroked his chin and nodded, "That’s true. Huo Feng always feels he looks like Wang Junkai, Yi Yangqianxi, Wu Lei, Liu Haoran, and other young idols..."
Wen Miao couldn’t help but laugh out loud, "Then he’s really overthinking!"
Pan Bo clapped his hands, "I think he’s overthinking too! Great minds think alike, Miao-ge!"
For a moment, the two of them clicked and laughed together. The atmosphere in the hospital room instantly became more joyful, and Wen Miao’s mood brightened...
Wen Miao certainly wasn’t lacking in male friends, they might even seem to overwhelm her sometimes.
However, the only one she genuinely felt had potential for something more was Pan Bo.
She had always hoped to find an outstanding young man to one day take over her family’s martial arts gym with her.
Because she wanted to expand her family’s martial arts school across the globe, the most meticulous plan she had for the future was to run a martial arts school independently and open it in other cities.
For that, her school would need a male owner.
Pan Bo was a decent man.
Apart from being decent in many ways, he actually could make Wen Miao very happy.
Even though he constantly called her "Miao bro," many times, Wen Miao could feel a level of attentiveness and tolerance from him that she never got from other buddies.
That was Pan Bo’s unique gentlemanly quality and it was also the trait he and Huo Feng had in common.
Wen Miao liked that about him...
So, later in their conversation, Wen Miao suddenly asked him, "Fatty, tell me, if I end up with a lot of scars, will I have trouble finding a boyfriend?"
Sitting beside her, Pan Bo was peeling an orange, a fruit from Wen Miao’s hospital room, and said while peeling, "Don’t worry, Miao Bro!"
Wen Miao raised an eyebrow at him, "Worry about what?"
Pan Bo said, "Even without scars, you might not find a boyfriend! Hahaha!"
After he said that, he suddenly burst into loud laughter!
It really looked like he was asking for a beating!
Wen Miao, infuriated, grabbed his ear and yanked it wildly!
"Ow—pain, Miao Bro! My mistake, my mistake! Forgive me, forgive me!"
Pan Bo howled, and although it really hurt, he had no intention of retaliating.
He just passively let her pull his ear, believing she wouldn’t go too far in bullying him.
Actually, as emotionally intelligent as Pan Bo was, how could he misinterpret some of Wen Miao’s words?
But, not only was he emotionally intelligent, he also knew how to... play dumb!
"Dead fatty! You’re the one who can’t find a girlfriend! You’ll never find a girlfriend in your lifetime! I curse you to be single forever!" unless he married her!
After Wen Miao yelled at him, she finally let go of his ear and turned her head away, huffing angrily.
Pan Bo, grinning from ear to ear, simply said, "Okay, okay, whatever you say. We shouldn’t argue with Miao Bro; the patient’s wishes are paramount!"
Wen Miao "hmphed," and then, from an angle Pan Bo couldn’t see, the corners of her mouth were turned up high.
"Wanna play King’s Game?"
"Calling me to play games again? Have you studied at all this week? Don’t think you can skip studying just because your tutoring sessions are fewer! Did you bring your school bag?"
"Haha! Knew you’d say that!"
Pan Bo laughed, "Didn’t bring it! Clever me, oh yeah!"
Wen Miao: "..." Idiot!
On Saturday night, Pu Sangzhi stayed again in Huo Feng’s hospital room.
She was actually planning to visit Ye Qingcao’s parents, since she was already in Rui’an, it would have been convenient.
But Huo Feng was dragging his feet writing an essay.
He’d write a bit, space out, then after coming back, he’d fool around with a pen...
Getting him to write an essay took more than 40 minutes!
Watching him without any motivation, Pu Sangzhi felt both urgent and helpless.
In the end, she stopped making Huo Feng write the essay.
Instead, she sat by Huo Feng’s side, forcefully—and in a sense, keeping him company—as they went through over 10 essays together.
With essays, the key is to read a lot and write a lot to gradually develop writing skills and techniques.
High-scoring essays also have their techniques and characteristics.
Pu Sangzhi continued tutoring him until eight o’clock, preparing to leave at half past eight to visit her parents when Shen Yu suddenly told her, "Xiaosang, you should stay here tonight. Auntie will go home first."
Pu Sangzhi was forced to stay, taking over Shen Yu’s night watch.
So, tonight, Huo Feng lay in his hospital bed, his mouth so happy it wouldn’t close...
"Dog Sang, you admit my mom’s tactics are superb, don’t you?" he even asked her gloatingly.
Meanwhile, as Pu Sangzhi was setting up the folding bed, she shot him a glare, "What did you call me?"
Huo Feng not fearing death said, "Dog... Sang..."
Pu Sangzhi took a deep breath, "Ten more essays before bedtime."
Huo Feng’s eyes widened as he exclaimed, "I friggin’ admit my mistake!"
