“Welcome back, Mrs Valentino, I’m Doctor Selvig, you had a strong impact on the right side, above your forehead and the impact cracked your skull.”

I was surprised, my gaze turned to Sean, my grip on his hand grew stronger, I was afraid.

“You don’t have to worry, the fracture didn’t cause any serious injuries but unfortunately you will need to rest a bit longer after being discharged from the hospital.”

I nodded, then doctor Selvig examined me with a basic examination, after the doctor who looked like Crish Evans left, I asked Sean to give me water to drink.

“How long have I been here?” I asked curiously, Sean sat on the edge of my bed after he put my drinking glass on the nightstand.

“Two weeks 10 days.”

“What??”

I was surprised, really. How long is that?? I closed my eyes and exhaled loudly.

“What about my job?”

“Don’t worry, your husband is the owner of the foundation you don’t have to worry about.”

I rolled my eyes when I heard Sean’s answer, which was very arrogant and powerful, but he was right.

“Which hospital is this?”

It’s natural that I have a lot of questions, I’m a woman who just woke up from suspended animation for more than 2 weeks, I must have missed a lot of things.

“We’re still in New York.”

“And Ronald?”

Sean smiled and I was teased by his smile.

“He’s fine, you negligent passenger, Ariana, how could you forget to wear your seat belt while driving? Ronald only suffered minor injuries.”

Sean looked down with a regretful look on his face, I grabbed his hand and held it. He must really blame himself for what happened to me right now, but that’s not entirely true, it’s also my fault, I wasn’t wearing a seat belt so the impact I had was pretty hard.

“It’s my fault I was negligent.”

“But you were in New York because of me, you followed me and saw me in the cafe, I chased you but the taxi you were in had left.”

“Where’s your cell phone?” he asked after we were silent for a while, I looked at him with a serious look.

“I left it at the apartment,” I answered honestly, I just removed the chip of my cell phone number from the thing.

“I know you’re tracking my cell phone, so I’m also tracking your cell phone with another cellphone I’m using now,” I explained revealing a plan that wouldn’t work without Ronald’s help, Sean nodded once as a sign he understood.

“Why did you let her do it?”

I wanted to know, really wanted to know, why he wanted that to happen.

“She said she wanted to see me because Ariel threatened to kill her.”

My eyes widen because of this information, Ariel?? The man is in jail, is the woman lying??

“Maybe she’s lying, Ariel is in jail now.”

“Someone released him by paying bail, the child Atika was carrying was the son of that jerk.”

I cover my mouth with one hand, oh, boy! This is surprising, how come?? Ariel and Atika, what happened between them?? Sean took a deep breath he must have known about this very well. Someone opened the door, there was a figure of Caroline and then Andrew who came in and interrupted our conversation.

“Ariana!”

Caroline looked surprised for a moment then ran to me, then she hugged me where I was currently sitting and leaning on the pile of pillows.

“Oh, Ana, I thought-“

She cried and then I shook my head slowly, I brushed the hair that framed his face, I missed him, my eyes were instantly wet with tears.

“I’m fine.”

“Oh come on! You’re here with a fractured skull and then you say you’re fine?? That’s ridiculous, Ana.”

Caroline said angrily I smiled and then she gave me a quick peck on both cheeks, well, I was silly and careless.

“Where’s Ronald?”

“He’s filming, will be here when he’s done.”

I nodded, Caroline walked away from me then Andrew approached me, smiled and kissed the top of my head briefly, he turned to look at Sean.

“I want to talk.”

Andrew looked at Sean, his gaze was serious, Sean nodded then walked away leaving Caroline and me alone in the room. Caroline’s stomach looks a little bloated, I smiled at her then my hand went up to caress her Caroline smiled and she sat on the edge of my bed.

“Why are you here with Ron??”

I took a deep breath and then I started to tell the story, Caroline listened without interrupting, when I finished speaking, Caroline Cortez’s cruel cursing came out, I rolled my eyes then pinched her thigh to reprimand her.

“Don’t be rude Carrie, you’re pregnant, I don’t want my niece to have a poison mouth like you.”

Caroline snorted with an annoyed expression on her face, I chuckled. Andrew and Sean are back with us. I don’t know what business they’re talking about, maybe it’s between men.

“You’re just here to see me?”

I felt a big head over what Caroline and Andrew were doing, the woman rolled her eyes and chuckled I smiled holding back my laughter.

“Don’t sweat it, honey, I’m here for something else too.”

The look on Caroline’s face was mysterious, but I was trying to guess.

“About your move,” I guessed sourly. Caroline smiled brightly, I rolled my eyes, oh, God! I’ll be lonely without him after this year. When Ramia’s mother, Dad, Rani and her husband came, Caroline and Andrew left. They all took turns giving me kisses on the forehead and both cheeks, today is kissing Ariana it seems.

“I’m glad you’re back honey, I almost didn’t forgive Sean if you didn’t come back.”

Mama Ramia looked teary, oh, my God! This respectable lady is worried about me, she cares. I smiled with my feelings of emotion, I never imagined before that she would be my mother-in-law. I often see her in the media as a highly social woman, beautiful and elegant, intelligent, the wife of one of the richest businessmen in the world, caring, and the mother of two amazing children. I glanced at Sean who was currently looking at me with a guilty look, oh boy! He was like a child who had been scolded by his mother for skipping school, adorable and also pitiful.

“Never mind, dear, the most important thing is Ariana is back,” said my father-in-law with a wise tone, he put his arm around his wife’s shoulder.

“Once you get out of the hospital, you’ll be coming with Mama to Dubai until you’re fully recovered, honey.”

My brows furrowed very deeply, to Dubai?? Then what about my job?? How about Sean??

“I’ll be living in Dubai for a few months?? How about my job, Mam??”

I panicked but the real reason was, will Sean come with me to Dubai??

“You don’t have to worry, honey, for a while, you’ve been replaced by another teacher.”

“And Sean?”

I was so curious, my gaze turned to him who was looking at me with that frightened look.

“He remains in Singapore.”

And those words turned my gaze to my mother-in-law with disapproval. No way! This can’t happen.

“No Mam, I wouldn’t have gone to Dubai if Sean wasn’t with me,” I said firmly, Sean looked at me expectantly, his fears evaporated. He can’t be away from me I can’t be without him, Ramia’s mama sighed, Rani grabbed my hand and looked at me with an ‘this-for-your-good’ look but I remained stubborn.

“Honey, Sean can take care of himself.”

“No, Mam! I’m not going anywhere without Sean, I don’t-“.

I choked, the pain when I saw him with Atika back then, my heart felt like it was being torn apart, I cried, my hands that were in Sean’s grip tightened, I felt tight and had difficulty breathing, my head ached like being pricked by needles. My vision started to blur, my eyes greedily looked around, oh my God! Sean, no, I don’t want him to be away from me. I tried to catch my breath but it was so hard.

“Ariana, Ariana, can you hear me, honey??!!.”

I could hear Sean’s voice calling out to me, but the voice sounded far away, I was at the threshold of my consciousness, the pain in my head was getting worse and my chest felt like something heavy was pressing on it. I screamed and cried in my mind before the darkness took over me completely.

“I love you, Sean, stay with me.”
