Chapter 23: Chapter 23

Author POV

Sean looked at Atika with a tired look, the woman lately often gave reasons to be able to meet him and tried to interfere in his household. For Sean, Atika is a good friend now, nothing more. Whatever had happened between them was over, and would never happen again, Sean had already made sure of that. For Sean, that woman is the past and Ariana is a bright and hopeful future.

“Atika, you can go now,” said Sean, Atika looked at the man with a hurt look, she purposely came to the man’s apartment to remind him of her wedding anniversary party and she expected the man to be there even though he had to bring his wife with him, but Atika was sure , Sean and Ariana’s relationship is still very fragile and she still has little chance.

“Are you coming tonight?” asked Atika before leaving, Sean breathed heavily, Ariana had agreed to come, Sean nodded. A gleam of happiness flashed across her face and the woman left. Ramia, looking at her son with a threatening look she sat back down on the sofa.

“How many times do you have to say this? Stay away from that woman!” Ramia tries to keep her emotions from overflowing, Sean chuckles, sometimes his mother is difficult to understand, he has even explained repeatedly that he will not repeat anything with Atika.

“Mom, Atika is just a friend, nothing more.”

“Can’t you see that hope in her eyes? She still longs for you and if there’s a blemish, she’ll come in and tear you apart.” Ramia said suppressing all the words in her sentence.

Sean was stunned and silent, thinking about his mother’s words.

“If that woman is the cause of your rift with Ariana, Mama won’t forgive you, Sean, Ariana doesn’t deserve that,” Ramia threatened and left Sean to the kitchen.

Ariana POV

Aunt Ramia approached me and Rani who was busy cooking breakfast.

“How’s that idiot?” Rani asked sarcastically, Aunt Ramia sat on one of the bar stools that lined the opposite side of us, she didn’t seem to agree with Rani’s question.

“Don’t be too hard on him, Rani,” my mother-in-law coaxed.

“Auntie, what do you want for breakfast?” I asked, and the woman frowned deeply at me, like she didn’t agree with what I just said. Is there something wrong with my question??

“You call me aunty? You must be punished, Ariana,” she said, she then formed her lips into a straight line, I was embarrassed, my Inner Goddess chuckled at me and looked at me with a mocking look, I came to know where this habit of punishing came from.

“Mommy, what do you want for breakfast?” I repeated my question and gave my apologetic smile to my loving mother-in-law. The beautiful woman smiled at me affectionately.

“What did you guys have for breakfast?” She asked, Rani told the breakfast menu this time. Pancakes and Omelettes.

“Pancakes, please,” she ordered.

“Have you ever talked about Atika with Sean??”

I know the question was directed at me. I nodded and brought her three pancakes and maple syrup.

“I’m not just talking but I’m debating it,” I admit.

“Really?? This is a surprise,” said my mother-in-law with a beaming face, Rani hugged my waist from behind and put her chin on one of my shoulders.

“I told you, she is tougher than me in overcoming Sean, did you win the debate??” Rani looks enthusiastic, it can be seen from her tone when asking. I smiled, this is news, Sean has never been opposed by anyone except Rani, it’s only natural that he looks very angry if I argue or argue with him.

“He will try to keep Atika away from our relationship,” I say and Rani chuckles, I know, Rani doesn’t want that, neither do I.

“You idiot, but it’s not a bad decision, do you mind??”

Rani seems to want to know a lot.

“I shrug, at least he’s trying to keep the problem out of our household.” Now I understand why Sean doesn’t really like being around Rani for long. This older sister is very curious and wants to interfere.

Sean came and approached the three of us and sat beside his mother.

“Breakfast, Mr. Abraham?” I offered, Sean smiled gently.

“Yes, Mrs. Abraham.”

“Pancakes or Omelettes?”

“Omelette,” he chose quickly, I immediately turned to make him an omelette and made a portion for me too. I don’t know what they’re talking about and I don’t want to know, my curiosity level is on low mode. I sat near Rani opposite Sean.

“Do you have any activities after leaving Entertainment, Ana?” It was my mother-in-law who asked.

I shook my head.

“I plan to teach at a private music school, taking piano and guitar classes.” I said as I looked at Sean, her expression changed, her gaze hardened, but I was determined to give it one more try My Inner Goddess prepared herself to argue.

“That’s great, Mama knows you’re good at it, when did you start taking her classes?”

“I haven’t allowed it.” Sean spoke up, suddenly I looked at him with my angry look, oh no! I don’t want him to interrupt.

“Sean, you can’t keep your wife at home like a prisoner while she has potential that she can use for people’s needs, let Ariana work.” My mother-in-law’s words were like heaven’s wind for me, I seemed to want to hug her right now and thank her. I looked at my mother-in-law with my grateful gaze, she blinked at me and gave a faint smile.

“There’s a lot of people out there who want Ariana as much as I want her, Mom, I can’t take that risk.” Sean said in a calm, but threatening tone and certainly didn’t want to be denied. Does he have paranoia?? He was thinking too far.

“You’re paranoid, Sean, stop acting like everyone wants to have what you have.” Rani comes to my side, I feel sorry for Sean on one hand, I know, he wants to take care of me but if he keeps me here, and I wont stand it. Sean shrugged and finished his breakfast, took a sip of his orange juice then stood up.

“That’s the truth, and it’s my responsibility to protect mine, if you want to leave now it’s better I have important business with my wife, Ana, I want to talk to you,” Sean said while looking at me with a serious look, please, God, don’t arguing again, I’m tired.

“You’re going too far, Sean!” Rani said in an angry tone, look, no one can argue against a Sean Al Abraham, he even kicked out his own mother and sister. I finished my breakfast and followed Sean, we went into his workspace. He turned, closed the door and locked it.
