Chapter 89: Chapter 89
Chapter 91 tracking Emily Russel
As she stood by the window and looked behind Wen, Elly sighed silently. She thought she would feel comfortable, but the truth was not good.
"Regret?" Alex went inside to look. There was no one underneath. He drew the curtains to cover their view. "Don't look, it will only bring lingering memories."
The smile on Elly's lips is a little funny. "I won't go soft."
"Wow! By the way I came here to give this. I brought a magazine for you."
Elly picked it up blankly. She read it out, and found that it was a guide to introducing a good restaurant. She turned to look at him with a question in her eyes.
"On Sunday, let's go out for dinner and pick any place that you like." Alex held her hands and touched her lips.
"Just go home for dinner. What do you want? Date?" She asked him honestly on what was in her mind. A seconds later she felt ashamed.
Alex was in dazed because of her rosy cheeks. He was out of control and shrill in his voice. "Why are you asking so much? You just have to be obedient."
In her bewilderment, it was already Sunday. According to their agreement, Elly waited for him at the cafe near Hargreaves's house.
When Elly was sitting silently, a man in a bucket hat sat on the chair in front of her. She was surprised, and carefully said. "Sorry, someone has taken this seat."
The Stanger was silent. Elly taught that if she wanted to pretend that it's okay, she should change a table service, but she's sure that the other party would react.
As the strange man wore a bucket hat, she could see it clearly, and Elly was dumbfounded. "Emily?"
Emily grinned. "I didn't expect you to be so impressed with me."
Elly was disdained in the twinkling of an eye. Emily kept bouncing up and down in the chair in front of her, which of course left a deep impression on people.
Today is Sunday. That's why the café was crowded. Elly was not afraid of accidents, so she was relieved and called a waitress. "Two cups of coffee!"
Emily looked at Elly's attitude was no longer as closed as she was on a date. Now that she is engaged to Alex and Alex provided for her wants and needs. She has no money. She is poorer than ever.
"Miss Elly, I am a greedy woman. I hooked up with Alex for his property."
"You know yourself very well." Emily nodded in praise.
Elly laughed. Her eyes were shining with confidence. She didn't care of what Emily thinks of her.
The waitress left with the coffee. Elly took a sip and said back. "Yes, that's why I clung to Alex and refused to throw up."
Emily looked pale when she was angry, she shouted. "Keep your mouth shut. Who do you think bites and doesn't throw up?"
Elly blinked innocently. She pushed the coffee to her and persuaded her. Angrily, she drunk her coffee, and then speak politely. "Don't push me. You're the daughter of a big company anyway."
Emily hit the table with her hand and glared angrily at Elly, tried to tear her to pieces. "What are you proud of? Alex married you, not because of you, but because you look like his ex-wife. You are an impostor, borrowing other people's feelings. In his heart, you are just his temporally substitute."
Judging from the way Emily struggled in despair. She felt sad and pitiful. She once thought she was the reason for the breakdown of the relationship between Emily and Alex, but this time, Alex wouldn't like people like her even if she didn't show up.
Elly looked at her quietly, and the atmosphere suddenly dropped, as if they're alone in the café..
"I don't know how long did it take." Elly said calmly. "Whether he loves me or not, who's the last one better with him, right?"
"I'm glad to hear that."
A familiar voice suddenly sounded, and the two women looked at where the voice came from. Alex approached them. Emily's eyes panicked, and Elly instinctively observed her expression.
Alex stood beside Elly's seat. He hold Elly's hands and caressed it. The temperature on his hand surprised Elly.
Alex couldn't take his eyes off to Emily, and said
"I knew you were following Elly, so I deliberately took her out as bait to lure you out."
Emily smiled and satirized. "For her, you kicked me out of your house and sent me a hired man to follow me around. Is this a peaceful breakup?"
"Mr. Alex, don't make me remind you what you have done."
She was too arrogant to admit it. "What have I done? What do you mean, like interrogating a criminal? Are you willing to put out the fire in order to win Elly's heart?"
"Does the Russel's have an innocent sense of superiority? I was crazy with her, finding fault. Before Elly was kidnapped, you hired man to follow her. This time, Elly was blocked by a crazy woman and almost killed, which is also your fault. The woman's nerves are normal, and psychologists have decided to evade crime. Do you think the law will not punish anyone with mental illness? It's stupid, crazy or fake. There are many ways to prove it."
As she heard Alex's words, Emily's face turned pale.
Emily was shocked by what he said. "You still think that woman who is angry and filled with jealousy, would do something crazy to you? No, Emily hired that woman to kill you."
That woman is so cruel, Elly shivered all over when she remembered that day.
Alex was satisfied with Emily's paled face and gave her a document. "Go find it. I'll surprise you."
Emily almost trembled to open the file, and the contents made her panic and drop it on the ground.
Alex's omens add up. Boy scouts are just a cover now, and they can't even afford to pay their employees. "How long can Mr Russel climb?"
His laughed filled her ears. "If your company isn't ready, I don't mind taking Russel Group of Company back in the name of Hargreaves.
Emily's face was as pale as a dead man, she slammed her hand on the table and screamed out of control. "Do you want to push the Russel family until it reach the corner? Even if you didn't respect our relationship for way back, you should treat Elly nicely. She is a member of the Russel Family. She wouldn't watch Russel Group of Company collapse ruthlessly."
As she heard her old name, Elly narrowed her eyes and remembered her past identity of being Alex's ex-wife. She saw a faint smiled in his face.
Alex soon came back to reality, his voice was getting colder and colder. "When did you see Elly as your own sister? Mr. Russel treated her badly before his death, and what felt after the accident? Are you not ashamed to speak in her name? If she knew what you did, she would hate you, and she would remembered it as a cruel past for her. And she was to give up your family. Remember, who harvested the seeds."
Emily changed her strategy and purged herself of her sins. If she didn't loved him, she wouldn't have done those things.
"You bastard! Get out of my sight. I don't want to see a dirt like you." Alex bent down to hold Elly's hand and motioned to her.
He put his arm around Elly's waist and looked at Emily as if he saw something that make him felt disgusted. "Whatever you say, I don't love you!"
Emily found him ruthless and wanted to talk again to catch up, but he stepped on the material she had dropped on the floor, and the coffee that slipped on the table was smashed on her expensive skirt.
Emily stood up and fell floor. She stared at the two as they left the cafe.
'I won't lose. Wait and see.' She thought to herself.
Alex took Elly to a fancy restaurant, which surprised her. She didn't thought he'd come to a restaurant like this?
"Where do you want to eat? "He's so curious.
"In a Hotel?" Elly blinked.
Alex glared at her, for her to saw that he wasn't happy. Idiot!
Elly scolded back at him.
The two were careful not to repeat the unpleasantness of the food. When the food was served, Elly felt that it tasted well.... She suddenly realized that every time she had dinner with Alex, he would take her to some fancy place, suitable for her taste.
When Elly was thinking wishfully while eating, Alex was curious with the thread of her thoughts. "I'll show you the engagement dress tomorrow." He said to caught her attention
As she enjoyed the delicious of the food, suddenly she was choking because of a piece of meat was clogged on her throat. She coughed so much that she was out of breath. She hurriedly picked up the glass with water and adjusted her steady breath. Elly looked at him with a crooked smile. "Don't surprised me."
"Are you not pleased? We have just issued a statement that it is normal to try on an engagement dress."
Elly frowned and wondered if he was telling the truth. "Don't you have an ex-wife on your mind? How could I be engaged to you?"
"I will analyze the situation. Do you think John is stupid? Do you think he would have given up if he hadn't seen us engaged?"
Elly still doesn't accept it. She hesitated for a reason. She told him her reasons. "Once we're engaged, and the engagement will be called off in the future. You represented Hargreaves's image, and your issue will affect the reputation of the company."
"I can handle any trouble Elly, I can protect anything." Alex looked at her in his relaxed expression and his heart tightened as he asked questions. "Did it ever occur to you that I wasn't engaged just to help you avoid John?"
Elly thought his question was very interesting and said it carelessly. "Or what?"
"Maybe I like you?"
The time stopped, and the air warmed up with the silence of the two people.
This is not the first time Alex has expressed his love, but it's not still deep enough to shock her.
Shortness of breath held out Elly's worry, she didn't look at him. She slightly bowed her head to avoid his gazed. "I still don't know who I am. A secretary, I'm not the right one for you."
Every time Alex expressed his love for her, she felt a little anxious. It's not that she doesn't trust Alex, but she really feels unworthy of him.
Alex watched her calm down. He never tried to stop and express his love to a woman over and over again. He liked Elly now, whether she is his ex-wife or not.
"I'm the one who has the right to judge you." Alex stood beside her, holding the chair with one hand and the put chair beside her, and said imperiously and absurdly. "You don't have a husband and I don't have a wife. Why don't we be honest with each other?"
