Chapter 63: Chapter 63

Chapter 65 Unknown Number

Secretary John's naive eyes on Elly made Alex overjoyed. He sighed.

"My boss is an idiot! How do people recognize the truth when they do so many things in silence?"

Although Elly could not understand what he said, she secretly agreed that Alex Hargreaves was an idiot.

Alex's right hand made it clearer when he saw that she didn't listen to him.

"Mr. Alex went here to States not for work, but you."

"For me?" Elly was very confused, and her heart was beating very fast.

Secretary John sighed heavily and really admired the sentiment of the woman in front of her.

"Don't you find it strange that your boss will work randomly with States when you have just decided to go abroad? Ms. Elly, I said this because he was afraid that you would reject him, and he wasn't rested assured that you were alone in a foreign country."

It is not that Elly didn't doubt this, but she always feels that she is very complacent and takes Alex not too seriously.

With a shock in her heart, Elly suddenly remembered something and asked a question.

"Was he at the bedside while I was in a coma?"

"Yes, Ms. Elly.". Secretary John obeyed his superior. Because the last time the boss was away for a while, she was in danger, so even if he needs to go to the bathroom, for the past few days, he had to wait for me to change shifts to deal with it."

Elly was shocked by Secretary John's words.

"Who would have thought the General Manager of the Hargreaves Group would go this far for a woman?" Secretary John said excitedly. "I've never seen Mr. Alex worry about anyone's safety except you. He's really serious about you."

Secretary John's words completely flattered Elly's heart. The confession was still imprinted on her heart, and as Secretary John's words defined Alex's feelings as a no joke.

She felt that she should also face Alex's feelings more seriously. For this reason, Elly felt more and more of the invisible pressure.

In City A, John Elliot and Sarah Olsen were sitting at the table for dinner. They chatted about the latest interesting events, and John Elliot's cell phone suddenly rang. He glanced at the screen of his mobile phone which was a strange number and hung up immediately.

Seeing him hang up the phone, Sarah Olsen asked curiously

"Who was it? Why didn't you answer it?"

"406 unknown numbers called me, all of which are disorganized advertising inquiries," John replied indifferently.

However, the strange number continued to call, and John answered the phone impatiently.

"Who are you?"

"John, aren't you worried about the death of your fiancée?"

When John heard the word "fiancée" on the phone, his eyes widened and he thought the voice on the phone was familiar.

"What's your problem? How did you get the news from her? Who are you?"

After catching Alex holding Elly, he vowed that he will never see her again. John thought Elly was avoiding him, and the call disturbed his peace.

"It doesn't matter who I am." The voice on the phone pierced John's ear like a ghost.

"Mr. Elly is in States, but I know in Elly Russel died in the hospital."

John Elliot looked so pale that he almost dropped his phone, he asked loudly. "What happened? Why is she in the hospital?"

There is no answer when the phone is turned off. John quickly took his coat and runs out.

"Wow! Where are you going?" Sarah Olsen only knew that something had happened. When she saw him running away, she stood up and ran after him, but was politely stopped.

"I'm sorry, miss, you didn't check out".

Sarah Olsen hurriedly paid and saw John Elliot driving through the glass door. Her feet felt weak and her voice was tired.

It's his ex-fiancée, Elly. When will he let her go?

But no one answered Sarah Olsen's question.

John Elliot came to States on the second day. He took a taxi directly to Z Hospital, but he didn't know which room Elly was in.

"Hello, which room is patient Elly in?"

The nurse checked on the computer and answered politely.

"Ms. Elly is in Room 304, Special area, on the fourth floor."

"Thank you." John Elliot responded politely and hurried to the elevator.

In-room 1408, Alex's face remained dark as if the whole world owes him. He hasn't forgotten the first name she said when Elly woke up. He just got angry in his heart.

When he returned to the hospital this morning, Alex never smiled. He knew that Elly only inadvertently called John Elliot's name, but he was still very warm to her.

Elly secretly looked at Alex through a bowl of Rice Congee and said cautiously. "I heard Secretary John said that you took care of me these days, and I always bring you trouble."

Alex was dismissive. "In order not to cause me any more trouble, you have to listen to me all the time now, do you understand?"

His overbearing remark made the atmosphere less tense. Elly knew he was in a bad mood, so she was silent. She finished a bowl of porridge, and as soon as she put it down, a white towel stuck out in front of her.

Elly held out her hand, and Alex naturally raised his face to wipe the corners of her mouth.

"Your face is covered with sticky porridge. Are you a child?"

His voice is ferocious, but his gentle care moved cautiously. Elly was ashamed and pressed his wrist.

"I can do it myself."

The door suddenly opened from the outside, and the anxious screams startled the two of them.

"Elly, are you all right?"

When Elly heard her name, she was surprised to see John rushing into the room. He panted and ran to her. "Yes, how about you?"

After shouting, she remembered that she was still holding Alex's hand, and soon threw it away in shame. She secretly watched Alex's face, and she didn't know why he had this reaction.

"Why are you here in the States? How did you know I was in the hospital?" Elly asked awkwardly, she did not believe that John would chase her after her performance.

John did not answer, and he was not shocked when he learned that Alex was also here. Alex was aware of the awkward atmosphere and took the initiative to leave space for two people.

"I'll be out, and you two can talk to yourselves."

Before leaving, in order to provoke his enemy, Alex arrogantly tried to wipe in Elly's mouth again. He put the dirty towel on the tray at the top of the cabinet and then swaggered out of the room.

John hurried to the bedside, looked at her lower body, and asked anxiously. "Your Majesty, are you all right? It may be a mild illness, but why did the phone tell me you couldn't survive in the hospital? It made me think your life is in danger."

Is life or death unknown? Elly scratched her nose and smiled. "Who told you the fake news? I've only been to the emergency room twice."

"Do you really want to go to the emergency room again? Her physical condition is so stable that John thought the news is false, and now Elly admitted it that startled him.

John felt sorry for her and couldn't help scolding her. "Elly, why don't you take care of yourself? What's so good about living in the States? Won't Alex take care of you?"

"No, no" Elly quickly denied that she did not want Alex to be misunderstood. "I decided to let myself live here in States. Alex had nothing to do with it. If he doesn't save me twice, I'm afraid I'll be killed and dead by now."

"What? Is someone trying to kill you?" John wanted to hold her hand and feel the warmth of her life, but Elly skillfully walked away. "He's not angry. He only cares about my life. Who wants to kill you?"

A man in a helmet, wearing a mask, tried to strangle me in the elevator. A nurse forced me to take poison. Elly recounted the unusual horrors she experienced in the recent days.

John frowned more and more. After analyzing what she said, a name suddenly flashed into his mind.

"Why would she do that?" Elly was taken aback. "He saved me. He's not behind this."

John wanted to tell her his conjecture, but he had no proof, so he said euphemistically. "A man as successful as Alex must be chased by a lot of women. You and he have been spending a lot of time together recently, and a little intimacy between you is enough to be the victim of jealousy. "

"The only problem is a woman's heart." John will not impolitely say such unpleasant words. He hesitated to say more information.

"The caller told me the news of your hospitalization. Although the voice has changed, what I still heard is the voice of a woman."

John Elliot's words were very clever, but Elly soon thought of people like her.

In this world, no one hates her so much except Emily Russel.

"Emily Russel may hate you so much that she wants to kill you." She once did it herself in an old villa.
