Chapter 34 Russel Family Messed Up

"Am I overthinking?" Emily looked up, her eyes already turned red because of crying, "I saw my man having dinner with a woman, it is my right to ask you if you two are no longer in the working relationship anymore? You are The Hargreaves' President, if some paparazzi saw that you had dinner with your female worker in a restaurant for a couple, what would happen?"

Emily argued with reasoning, her sweet voice touched Alex's heart. She was right. If some reporters caught that moment, Elly would be in trouble again. Alex didn't think about it. He tried to calm Emily down, took her to her bedroom, and spoke. "Go to bed now, my dear. I still have work to do."

Alex came to the library. Emily was happy, she thought Alex was moved by her tears. Alex was sitting in front of the table, he looked at the wedding picture of him and Madeline, Alex began thinking. It has been three years but he hasn't destroyed these pictures. Emily used to cry all day because of these photos.

Madeline smiled shyly, her face was beautiful and modest. However, Elly was the one in Alex's heart now. Elly was definitely the same person as Madeline, but the feelings that she gave to him was totally different. Madeline Russel - Elly, these names darkened his feelings. His evil eyes flashed.

'Maddy, you can't escape from me.'

At the same time, Elly went back to the hotel to packed up her things and rushed back to John's house. This was the longest time when they were apart the most, she also missed her fiancé.

"What are you doing here?" Elliot Lady hissed. She always underestimated Elly.

Elliot Lady cannot shout Elly if John was there. This thing has happened several times. Elly felt so depressed. John has his own office in the hospital, Elly opened the door. There was no one in that room.

"Oh, Elly? Why are you here? At this time?" A nurse knew Elly came to ask.

"Ah, Elizabeth, I'm looking for Elliot. Where is he?"

"Doctor Elliot is on abroad for an emergency operation. Parson also goes with him. You don't know this?"

All people in the hospital knew Elliot has had a fiancée. If she does not know where he was, their relationship must be struggling.

"I was not home for a few days. I did not know. Thank you!" Elly left quickly, trying to hide her embarrassment from the nurse.

Elly called John. A polite and cold voice answered. "Hello. Who is this?"

"Elliot, why did you not tell me that you were abroad? How can I understand this cold attitude?" Elly tries to calm herself down.

"Elly? How do you know...? You are ba..." Elly interrupted. "Do not do a red herring! If I did not call you, you would never call me, right? Don't you need me anymore?"

"No, no. Elly, it's not like that. I have reasons. There are so many things that happened, I don't have time, I can explain, please listen to me. I will tell you clearly when I came back to City A, okay?"

Elly turned off her phone. John said a lot of things but he didn't answer her question. Since she woke up, John has been building her world. John always stays with her and he was her only relative. Even when Elly did not think about their loving relationship, John always stayed close to her whenever she needs. John is the first person who appeared in her life after the accident. 'Now what? He didn't tell his fiancée about where he was going. He didn't look after his fiancée when she was gone. This feeling sucks.' Elly thought. Elly forced herself to settle down. Maybe she should wait for John to make everything clear.

The next morning at the Hargreaves house, Alex was awakened by a noise. Alex was a very mean and cruel person when being disturbed by sleep. He bunkers downstairs, his face darkened.

A high-pitched voice stuck to his ear that made him want to smash things.

"You can sleep after eating out with a girl that is not my child?" Someone shouted.

"Master Hargreaves has not up yet. Please, lower your ..."

"Insolent! You are just a servant! You have no right to talk to me! I need an explanation from Alexis Hargreaves!" He interrupted the maid.

Alex took strong steps down the stairs. His low voice was as evil as hell. "This is the house of Hargreaves. Strangers weren't allowed to enter."

Hearing Alex said those words, all three people in the living room were shocked. Mr. Russel appealed. Emily can feel the dissatisfaction in Alex's accent. She started to think that her parents' plan would fail and backfire.

Alex came. He settled on the sofa, beside the scared servant, as opposed to Emily Russel. He crossed his legs, leaned comfortably at his back, his voice turned cold and low.

"I already told you last night and I explained. Haven't you satisfied yet? You always call your parents to solve your problems?

"Alexis, what's with the attitude? Emily is your wife. It is her right to ask for your faithfulness."

Mr. Russel became angry. Alex did not even greet his wife's parents, Mr. Russel felt like he was insulted.

Alex laughed. A hoarse laugh pierced the room's eardrums like ghosts from hell. "Oh, Mr. Russel. It's not right. She is not my wife. Not yet."

"It's just a matter of time!" Mr. Russel hurriedly continued, panicked, stepped closer with a fake smile. "You two have been together for many years, marriage was the only problem. I consider you as my son-in-law and Emily is nearly your wife. That is a normal thing!"

Alex rested his chin on his hand, smiling, amused at Mr. Russel's confused expression. "Didn't Mr. Russel aggressively ask me for an explanation of something earlier?"

"Maybe, I was wrong, you know, I'm old, so..." Mr. Russel stammered and said, eyeing Emily for help.

"I repeat. I do not see Emily as my legal wife. It is my freedom to go out and meet other people and I do not have to explain my activities to strangers."

Emily was shocked when Alex emphasized the word 'strangers'.

"Alexis, please, listen to me, please understand! My dad cared about me so much that he said those dumb things..."

Alex stood up, not paying attention to Mr. and Mrs. Russel who was still standing, with Emily's panicked uneasiness. He went straight to the door. "Whatever the reason, you should handle it well. Don't let this happen again."
