Chapter 290: Chapter 290
Chapter 292 Misfortune
There is a bomb. The screams of chaos and the rumble of feet roared out of the hall.
Gerald instinctively looked at the hall door and couldn't catch up with Elly. First, she took the dress and ran to Alex. She yanked her hand from Linda Peart's hand.
"Elly, it's dangerous. Don't go over there." Linda Peart chased her but tripped suddenly. She held her belly and looked at the white wedding dress that flew in the wind, and rushed straight to the anxious crowd that panicked.
"Just like. Are you okay?" Gerald hurriedly supported Linda Peart and tugged her as he helped her get up. He pulled her against the wall and ran out like a bee that's been disturbed from a broken beehive. I followed the wall and went around to the back door, where Mr. Alex Hargreaves arranged it.
"I'm not going! What about you? What are you going to do with it?" Her eyes were fixed on the gun in his hand.
Gerald put her hand on Linda Peart's shoulder, looked her straight in the eye, and said firmly. "Trust me, nothing will happen to Alex."
With that, he ran with the crowd and went back to the meeting room. Some sharp eyes saw the gun in his hand. They felt afraid and screamed. That commotion made more people panicked and made the crowd more confused.
In the lobby.
Alex fainted on the podium. As soon as he regained consciousness, Alex strangled Rosalyn. He hugged her tightly from behind and place her in front of him as the black gun went straight to her temple. There are two elite and veteran guards behind her, ready to protect their master.
Rafael hid among the stumbling dignitaries who desperately tried to escape. A lot of people who attended the party stumbled as they got up and shouted at the door of the meeting hall for help. He sneaked in, hid on a large post, and looked at the figure of the man that stood opposite of Alex Hargreaves.
The five gunmen held their guns and pointed directly at Alex. The man looked very much like Alex from behind, but when he shouted, Gerald immediately recognized who it was.
"?"
Gerald was shocked and uttered his name so loud that Rafael suspected that he turned around. He turned the corner of his eyes and scanned the whole meeting hall. The last few people hurriedly ran out of the hall door while they screamed. He frowned and turned to look at Alex who was surprised by the paper that is in his hand.
"So far, all your family have been arrested by my people. Alex, you must sign this contract that 50% of your stocks will be sold to my boss."
"Is your boss insatiably greedy and not afraid of the law?" Alex Hargreaves giggled. His eyes suddenly narrowed dangerously and he was prepared to step onto Rosalyn to find a chance to escape. "Don't move, or I'll blow your head off."
She was frightened that urged Rosalyn to threaten him. "As long as I press this trigger, we'll all die. Mr. Alex aren't you afraid to die?"
Alex's cold smile gushed from his mouth. He bowed his head and whispered in Rosalyn's ear
"Never." As he glanced away from Rosalyn. "You won't dare, and neither does your boss."
Rosalyn's body trembled unconsciously, and the cold voice of Alex as he spat that words are like demons clenched her heart. "I know whose masterpiece the baby in your belly is."
When Rafael's subordinates listened to his words, they immediately raised their guns to be on guard.
Alex didn't give a damn at the five men who held a gun. He just laughed at them in amusement. "Nicholas' death is your masterpiece, isn't it, Mr. Rafael?
"Don't blame innocent people with someone else's fault," Rafael yelled, pulled the gun from the hired men, and pointed it at Alex. He warned loudly.
To answer his question, the gunshot thundered. Rosalyn pillowed on the ground, and blood oozed from his knee. The gun stipulated flung across the floor.
No one knew how fast Alex shot, but in an instant, the barrel returned to the temple where Rosalyn observed. "Brother Chen has no right to talk to me."
After his statement, he clapped his hands in unison. The side door next to the meeting room that led to the lounge was pushed open and a person came in. Everyone was surprised by the intrusion of the uninvited guest. His appearance attracted everyone.
"Brandon?" Alex said his name in surprise. "You escaped from prison?"
Brandon approached Rafael and watched him moan in pain. With his feet that's been shot, his eyes glistened by an undeniable pain and his voice was as thick as if he had been hurt in the throat.
"Your demeanor seems to be declining, isn't it? What about the dog that followed Chen Dao-fu? Where is the most powerful bodyguard? Why are there only two useless people?"
The two men behind Alex took a step, and their veins stretched out their bare arms to express their anger.
"Don't worry about the dog barking." Alex gave the order ruthlessly. He looked at Brandon arrogantly, reading between the lines as if he were mocking him. "A month ago, the day after you stepped over your position, I received a message. Don't you wonder why the media didn't report it?"
"Don't try to lie to me. The media say you're the boss, not you." Brandon denied Alex Hargreaves' accusations and stared at him with hatred. "Is that what you can say when you see me again?"
"What do you want me to ask you? Should I ask you how you were tortured by your cellmates during your time in prison? Or do you want me to ask how you break out of prison, cooperated with your boss's subordinates, and have sex with the warden?"
Alex's question pierced the terrible secret kept by Brandon. Provoked, he pulled out his gun and said as he walked towards him. "Shut up! Shut up!"
Alex grabbed Rosalyn by the neck, tugged at the gun that is in her hand, and lifted it. "They will kill us all, so come on." He also retreated slowly, kept his distance from Brandon. The two men now retreated to the entrance door until there was no one left.
"Alex, you said we were friends. But you always did otherwise and sent someone to spy on me. Is this an act of mutual trust?" Brandon's eyes glowed with hatred. He walked forward, and five men with a gun in each of their hands followed him warily.
"You always say that we are friends and even told me that we are brothers. How come you stabbed me in the back? You even framed my wife and forced her to leave me? Maybe you devised a plan and scheme at our wedding wherein you pretended to help others so that the wedding can't take place?" He spat at Brandon.
Alex Hargreaves kept on provoking Rosalyn whose red bridal dress was too far-fetched. The thought of touching the skin of another woman other than Elly made him sick.
"The death of Elly will only make me retreat, and you have a weakness that I'll play with my hands. John Elliot is unlucky and fell in love with a leprechaun like Elly. He deserved to die! He should be happy to die at my hands."
Brandon's crazy laughter hit the wall and reverberated in the entire hall.
As he heard and listened to his evil words, Alex laughed sarcastically. The black barrel moved away from Rosalyn's temple and ran along the side of her face. He then turned and pressed against the temple that made her groan in pain.
"If it is not your boss who's the father of your child and the baby in your belly, right? He's doing all these things for a woman like you, huh? Well, this is about my woman." Alex's voice is reinforced and was satisfied with Rosalyn's tremor.
Words as cruel as Alex's demons filled with Rosalyn's ear and made her gasp for breath. Her tears fell unconsciously on her cheeks and her lips were bitten with blood as she tried to conceal her fears.
Alex mocked her mercilessly. "Feeling that your previous friendship was a lie, you threatened to marry him just because I didn't love you like you wanted me to. Rosalyn, you are so pathetic."
His words were so strong that thousands of arrows can tantamount to the pain that she felt in her heart. Rosalyn struggled helplessly even if the gun is pointed in her temples.
At the same time, the noisy engine revved. He looked out of the door and Brandon's expression changed. "Is it a Helicopter?" He questioned.
Outside the building.
Elly held Kitten's hand and escaped through the purple lavender forest while the two men chased them with guns. Since the order was only to capture them alive but won't hurt the two, no one dared to do pull the trigger of theirs.
"Mother Elly, what about Grandma and Grandpa? Won't they escape with us? Elly together with Kitten ran around at their full-speed, and the screams startled her.
"Mom will come back to find your grandparents. Run and escape safely." Elly hated the twining of the bride's dress and the branches of lavender trampled down mercilessly under her feet. "As long as you get out of here, you can find a car. Hopped on it, hide carefully, and wait for us." Elly instructed her son and ordered him to be safe.
Mother and son ran in the lavender forest, mixed with many wedding guests.
Suddenly, a strong wind blew from above that pushed Elly to the ground as Kitten fell with her. The loud engine and the roaring wind slashed the lavender branches. The two people who followed them also fell to the ground because of the strong wind. They rolled back and stumbled on the ground in the act of professional fall.
Screams of horror rushed into everyone's ears.
"Elly, come here!" Linda Peart roared like the wind.
A small helicopter floated on the ground. Linda Peart put down the rope ladder and clung to it. She shouted at Elly and urged her to come inside the helicopter.
His mother's instinct made Elly quickly throws a pot of lavender plants at the two men to stall them and grabbed Kitten's waist and run to the helicopter with all her might.
"You run by yourself. I'll let you run." Her eyes commanded in a final tone. She commanded Kitten who dared not to resist and urged him loudly.
Elly's shoulder was suddenly grabbed and pulled back, and Kitten who was in her hand fell to the ground and rolled around. She shouted. "Baby, go to the helicopter! Don't look back!"
The child crawled hurriedly with his feet and hands, picked up his strength, and rushed forward. The winds blew from the fan arduously. His small frame and the fragile body was almost shoved to the ground before he could run.
After Elly was dragged to the ground, a muzzle hit her on the forehead. The man ordered her to stop. "Still."
Suddenly, his mouth groaned. His body was tossed from the top of his head, and a man dressed in black held an iron bar. His nervous face greeted her as he pulled Elly up.
"Miss Elly, run to the helicopter."
Knowing that it was Alex's man, Elly shook her head. She took out a gun from the man lying on the ground and trembled at the sight of the men that chased her and her son. "Here, give me the iron."
She threw the gun at her opponent, snatched the iron bar, and walked up towards the assailant's direction. "I can't leave my parents behind."
"I beg you, please don't do this, please let us live." The assailants dropped his gun in a panic. He picked it up and found that Elly had run quite far.
On Elly's way back, she came across a dead body sprawled on the ground with blood all over her head. She didn't know which person it belonged to. At the thought of Alex's parents, her heart was at a loss in horror.
When she arrived at the place where the two sides fought, Elly did not see George Hargreaves and Mrs. Hargreaves. She dared not to shout for fear of attracting the attention of bloodthirsty people.
Dressed in black, she did not know who was with whom. She hurriedly went to the venue and tried to look for Alex. From a distance, Elly saw a figure with whom she was familiar, and it's her friend Rosalyn. She stared at the person she was looking at.
"Who is it. Is he--?"
