Chapter 155: Chapter 155
Chapter 157 The Bait
Hearing Alex's questioning tone, Elly's initial good mood immediately disappeared.
"I'm sorry, I just happened to be around at Kitten's school, so you don't have to pick him up, but he had so much fun that he accidentally lost track of time. I didn't realize that we had been out of school for too long."
Although Elly admitted that she was at fault, Alex did not know what medicine to take and always said to reflect on himself.
"Now that I am Kitten's guardian, don't decide what happens at your will. What now? When you like it, you are in heat to do it and throw it away if you don't. Your attitude will only hurt Kitten."
Elly had a heavy face and an unpleasant voice. "Well, I know I shouldn't have taken Kitten without your permission, and even if I wanted to see him, I had to get your consent, right?"
Her sarcastic voice was obvious. Alex was very grumpy about her character. "Why do you always misunderstand me? Does it make you feel better to interpret other people's ideas at will? I never said you couldn't see Kitten It was you who didn't take the child and take him for granted, Elly!"
He was a little exposed to the phone, and he knew he was out of control, so his words were rugged. But her stubborn tone was out of his control. His rebuke made the other end of the rope very quiet. Even the faint breath was not transmitted over the phone, and the long silence embarrassed him.
Alex did not know how much Elly swallowed his anger and asked him to have a baby, bringing Kitten, who was raised by others, to the bottom of his heart.
"If you don't blame her, it's wrong to mention sensitive issues." With an understatement of capable lips, Mu Ying has just changed the subject. "Where are you now? I'll get him."
Alex took his heart out and it was because he's sad, Elly glanced at the skating bridge. "Let her play a little longer if you can, will you? I'll take the kid straight home. You don't have to answer it."
"That's fine."
After hanging up the phone, Alex expressed regret for Elly's mistake. He is the one who knew her feelings best. he can forgive whatever bad she has done and think of it in the best way. It's hard to control his feelings.
Alex hurried back to the office. He needed to finish his unfinished work before he could go home early.
In the playground yard, Kitten sat in his chair and drank a sip of water, his forehead sweating, but his eyes sparkled and his smile with deciduous teeth was not cute enough.
Elly carefully wiped the sweat for her baby and asked questions. "You had such a good time today that you haven't taken me to the amusement park for a long time."
Kitten nodded, his voice tender and old. "I'm busy. Mr. Gerald is ill. The company is in trouble. I'm not bothering you. When I'm done, I'll take you out."
"How do you know so much?" She didn't think Alex would tell him a work story.
"Mr. Geno said I would inherit my father's business in the future, so I should be like a man." Kitten boasted in his mind and said solemnly.
The extreme seriousness of Kitten's voice made Elly laugh, but when she thought of the truth hidden after his words, her eyes dimmed a lot. They are too busy to spend time with their families, partly because of her.
Kitten continued to confirm her ideas. "Dad has been exhausted by the pressure of work recently."
She knew that all his words were repeating the words of Housekeeper Geno, so she shook her head as soon as possible and tried to be sober and could not be soft-hearted. She still needs news of her fake death, and she can't stop halfway.
"Baby! Let's go home. Daddy's waiting for you.
The taxi stopped in front of Alex's house, and Kitten urged goodbye to Kitten. "Goodbye! Come on in."
"No mom! I have to go with you! I don't want you to go home right now. Take me inside!" Kitten grasped her by the wrist and shook his head to plead.
Her big round eyes began to drip, and she was afraid to let him down, so she reluctantly agreed. "Mom, can you take me to the door?"
When the two of them walked to the door, the familiar furniture in the living room appeared in turn, and Elly was stupefied for a moment. When the Housekeeper Geno came out of the side door, he was immediately surprised to see her. "Miss Elly?"
Inaudibly, Elly pretended to be calm and stroked the head of Kitten. "Now you go in by yourself. I have to go back."
Kitten did not answer, went forward bravely, clasped her wrist tightly, insisted on falling to the ground, and firmly refused to let go. Elly didn't know what to do, and before she could speak, a tall figure appeared behind her.
As they look at each other, Elly bowed her head in a cold tone. "I've brought Kitten back safely, and the job is done. I'll go first." She wanted to get out of trouble as soon as possible.
Alex stopped her in front of you. "Come in, Ms. Elly, I want to talk to you."
Her heart beat faster and she felt nervous for no reason.
"Kitten, go to Mr. Geno and take a bath" Alex commanded.
Kitten confidently handed over the responsibility of leaving his mother to his father and obediently held Mr. Geno's hand to the room.
Elly thought of the words and her original uncomfortable mood was even more uncomfortable. She asked in an impatient voice. "What do you want to talk about? If we get down to business, it should be during the administrative time. We are off duty now."
Alex did not beat around the bush and went straight to the point. "I am referring to the problem of suspected theft of product ideas."
"What? Isn't the news really roaring out in the media? If you want to ask someone, please ask Emily, she's the person in charge of this product production. As for the part of the product advertising plan, I completed it in accordance with the contract, and you are the signatory of the review. I am in charge of product advertising, not creativity and production. Is there anything wrong with you wanting to discuss this topic with me?"
"So, as a partner in product promotion, what do you think of this issue?" Alexis deliberately asked her for advice, and the purpose was not as simple as gossip.
Elly smiled and avoided to answer. "This is a matter within Hargreaves' family. What advice does an outsider like me have?"
"I want your opinion." Alexis looked at Elly with firm eyes, as if she would not leave the Hargreaves family until he spoke his mind.
Elly shrugged her shoulders, which was not conducive to perseverance and unexpected judgment. "Although we are in a cooperative relationship, I know nothing about the ability of product innovation, I cannot make an accurate judgment. However, from the point of view of the time before and after the product launch, Hargreaves' Company went public more slowly than other companies." The more she talks, the colder her voice was. "The launch time of the product has been delayed by 24 hours, which, to be fair, is to steal the product concept."
In the face of her casual eyes and her cold expression, Alex slowly leaned close to her ear and asked a few questions. "In your heart, am I the one who can do this?"
Elly smiled from ear to ear, and her eyes shone with sadness. "Director is the head of Hargreaves' Group. Your identity is too precious for us to be close enough to judge."
"Your Majesty, is it self-evident what I did to you? Do I look like such an evil, despicable, and shameless person?" Alex stared at her suspiciously.
Elly's face didn't change when she answered. "Some people always wear masks to communicate with others, and I clumsily can't tell what is real and what is false. Sometimes, I don't even realize that I am a pawn played by others. So, I really don't know what kind of person you are, Alex."
Alex was neither angry nor speaking. He gazed into her face and explored his emotions in his cold eyes.
Elly watched him helplessly, and she began to get impatient. "Director, can you get out of the way? I have to get back."
It took more than a minute for Alex to react and go to the side of the house to make way. Alex turned and walked towards the door, his shoulder drifting away with the sound of footsteps.
"So far, you still don't believe in me, do you?" Alex asked
"Let's go" Elly didn't answer and sat in the car and urged the driver.
The taxi was still waiting for her outside. Although the driver didn't know her, he realized that when the female guest got on and off the house, the atmosphere around her was completely different. It was soft before entering the big villa and cold when it came out.
On her way home, Elly received a phone call from Aaron. "Haven't you home yet?"
"I'm coming home by cab."
Aaron realized the tiredness of her voice. "What happened?" He asked.
"It's okay." Elly adjusted her voice and didn't want him to worry, nor did she like to express her emotions to many people. "Did you come to my house? What's the big deal?"
"Concerning your request for an investigation, the results came out. As soon as I got it, I went straight to your house, but the door was locked."
"I gotta go. I'll talk about it when I get home." Elly turned off her phone and her fingers trembled with nervousness. Alex's attitude and sad mood also fell apart.
She couldn't take her eyes off the window and looked at the traffic outside, compressing a deep sigh. She's tired, but she can't rest.
When she got home, Aaron stood at the door waiting. The two nodded in greeting, and as soon as they entered the room, he gave her a document.
"It's all about Brandon, and his purpose is not a simple job."
