Chapter 120: Chapter 120

Chapter 122 The reasons for the marriage

"Wake up?" Emily mocked and asked, "Do you really want it? You were there to take care of her for three years, you paid the price and kept sacrificing, but now she wants to marry another man. Are you willing to let go? Wish her luck?"

John frowned and could hear the gist of Emily's voice. "Marry? Does Elly want to marry Alex?"

"Don't you know?" Emily uttered. He thought it was painful enough for a man who had been robbed his life by his own brother. "You have loved Elly for three years but would rather marry the one who hurt her than come to you."

Emily was satisfied with his reaction, but his voice was beyond words. "I sympathize with you. After so many sacrifices, we have all opened the way to help people find their happiness."

John doesn't care about Emily's incitement. Although he was dissatisfied with her, he doesn't believe in her attitude as a human being. He cared about something else.

"Elly just moved back to Alex's house yesterday. Can she decide to get married so quickly? Have you given full consideration to this?"

John has more important things to do rather than listen to Emily, he said bluntly. "Whether they get married or not, it is their personal choice. I know what belongs to me, at least it doesn't bite like a dog."

Before Emily could retort, John hung up the phone. She was so angry that she almost threw the phone out of her hand.

She doesn't want to lose. She doesn't want Elly to realize her nature easily. But considering the obstacles of the Russel family, she hurriedly quelled her anger. She won't do anything impulsive without careful calculation.

After turning off the phone with Emily, John immediately called Elly, he wanted to make sure that she had fully considered getting married.

Elly needed to be happy before he can rest assured.

When John called in, Elly waved her fingers on the phone screen and had too much work this morning. Before he had time to ask, Elly said bluntly. "I'm busy right now. I can't answer the phone. I'll call you back as soon as I'm done."

The lateness continued into the afternoon, and Elly delayed answering the call made John become more anxious. He thought that she was not at work today, maybe when she noticed it, she'll call back.

Elly sat in Alex's car and went to school to pick up Kitten. Hearing the phone ringing and looking at the name flashing on the screen, Elly remembered that she had forgotten to callback John.

The call got through soon. 'I guess there must be something important. That's why he made so many phone calls in such a hurry.'

"Oh, okay. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to forget to keep you waiting."

Elly expressed her deep apologies and deep feelings. Alex was jealous of him because she was gentle and careful when talking to John.

"Elly, I said you don't have to apologize to me anymore, remember? I am calling to tell you that I am not angry and does not blame you. I will always be patient with you."

"What happened?"

John stared covetously, but could not speak at that time. He opened his mouth and made up his mind to speak. "Today, I received a call from Emily."

Elly was so frightened because she didn't expect that the two still have contacts.

"What did she tell you?" She deliberately pretended to turn a deaf ear, eager to know Emily's intentions and even what they talked about.

"Emily said you are going to get married." John has no intention of deceiving or concealing it.

Elly frowned. She deliberately wanted to provoke Emily. What was the use of telling John? Didn't she give up?

Without hearing any objection, John thought she was shy, and he asked hesitantly. "Have you thought about it? Although the misunderstanding between the two of you has been clearly explained, is your decision a little sudden?"

John didn't force her. He analyzed everything carefully. "Elly, a lot has happened recently. You should be sure with what you want. I don't want to regret seeing you again in the future."

Elly instinctively looked at Alex in order to be nice to him. After a few minutes, her voice became much calmer and spoke effortlessly. "John, I've thought about it. You're right. Children are always innocent. I want to give my child a worthy home."

"Are you marrying Alex out of mercy?" Said John, his heart was sinking in his chest. "Marriage is permanent, and you can't ignore your happiness because of your conscience. If Alex knew the truth, he would not be happy either. The child loves you, and he wants his own mother to be happy."

John's voice was very loud, although the phone is not on a loudspeaker, it still entered Alex's ear. He braked suddenly, causing the phone to slide out of Elly's hand. Startled, her body rushed forward and was buckled by her seat belt. Alex quickly reached for the phone before it fell on the floor of the car.

Alex turned on the open system with a cold face and looked at Elly carefully, emphasizing them one by one. "He's right. If you're willing to marry me because of the child, I think you should not marry me."

John now realized that Elly was with Alex. He regretted calling her. The conversation just now was overheard. He was not worried about Alex's misunderstanding; he was more worried that Elly will feel embarrassed.

John always took Elly to his heart.

Elly looked at Alex's serious face, took the phone from his hand and whispered. "Okay, I'll call you back."

She wanted to hang up, but she was stopped by Alex.

"You don't need to hang up. Let him hear it. I don't want you to feel confused. As long as you agree to get married for the sake of your son, we won't get married."

The calm voice, no complaint, no anger, John was surprised on the other end.

The space in the car was very small, and the air conditioner ran overhead, and the cold and muggy heat forced Elly to breathe several times before she could be calmed down. She looked squarely at Alex's rigid eyes, which fully reflected his firmness.

"I admit that if I marry you, the main reason is the child. But that's not the whole reason. I don't remember what we went through in the past, but since I once gave you a baby, it means I love you very much. After going through a lot of things together, I have fallen in love with you. Now, my heart is big enough to forget the past and start over."

Elly looked at him sincerely, her eyes gentle and full of emotion. "I am willing to marry you, not reluctantly. Even if the memory is restored, I still believe that it will not change, because love never needs to make a valuable judgment."

Alex's face was brimming with a bright smile, and Elly realized that John had hung up the phone. She felt guilty when he heard her express her feelings.

Alex unfastened his seat belt, pulled Elly into his arms, squeezed her tightly, and pushed her away bit by bit. He put his hand on the back of her head, her hair and neck were smooth, and the truth gushed out of his eyes and looked at her intently.

Elly was immersed in genuine tenderness. The two approached slowly and kissed as the best answer. Elly closed her bent eyebrows and voluntarily put herself and her heart in the hands of this man.

When the phone was turned off, John felt hot in his chest. He made up his mind, but the physical reaction and true feelings from the bottom of his heart could never deceive him.

Just as the door opened, Mrs. Elliot came in. "John, when will you be back? Don't leave Sarah alone for too long, after all, she is a weak woman."

Days has passed.

Despite Mrs. Elliot's best efforts to pretend that nothing had happened, she always put his son on her head, and she soon realized that his voice was unstable.

"What happened? Did something happen?" Mrs. Elliot asked.

"Nothing happened. Don't worry, I won't let Sarah worry."

Mrs. John sighed and her voice was much better. "Then you will understand your parents' hard work. Sarah is a good girl. She suits you very well. The perfect wife."

In fact, Mrs. Elliot's words did not reach his ears, but were drowned in John's mind that Elly was going to marry Alex.

He let go, but why is his heart so painful? Will he soon escape to a girl he doesn't love, and will his dead heart be comforted and beat again?

He didn't want to see Elly marry another man, and he didn't dare to book a flight to leave the country, for fear of missing the moment to see her happy.

He was a coward.
