Chapter 12: Chapter 12

Chapter 12 The boy calls me his mother

John Elliott put his arms around Elly's waist and pulled her away, avoiding the dangerous look from Emily's calculating eyes.

Elly was forcibly dragged away, however, she still tried to look back at the pitiful and small boy named Kitten who was curling up in a ball of tears.

"John, can you please let me say goodbye to that little friend? I'll be right back." She pleaded for John's allowance while her steps deliberately slowed down.

John immediately denied it, he hastily took her hand and intended to drag her away: "He probably belongs to a rich and famous family. Don't be too enthusiastic about helping others like that or they would consider us evil people who want to take advantage of their wealthy background... Alex! Stop following us. You are bearing a great resemblance to an escort right now."

Realizing that Alex suddenly appeared right in front of them, John put Elly behind his back. Elly found him extremely strange, maybe he was full of hatred towards that man standing in the way, she thought.

"Mr. Alex, please get out of the way. We don't share the same values, I don't want to continue talking to such a man like you." John tried to contain the anger that was rising inside him to talk in the politest way as he can.

Alex stood still without answering John, his eyes stared directly at Elly's figure behind him. He suddenly had a weird feeling that her slim waistline looked intimately familiar to him. "Mr. Alex, please don't be driven with your lust towards my lovely fiancée. How disgraceful you are!" – John Elliott said to him with a sharp voice, then pulled Elly closer, into his embrace.

By witnessing this action, Alex surely confirms that this woman right here was not the one that he had always searching for. Maddy would never allow another man to touch her body right in front of her husband's eyes, he affirmed that thought right away.

"How unfortunate, I have mistaken the wrong person. I'm truly sorry for my behavior."

Smiling at himself and being self-loathing, Alex instantly stepped back and gave way to the two of them.

John led Elly go straight ahead and ignored Alex who stood behind, he whispered into Elly's ear with a soft voice but loud enough to make Alex hear it all, "Mr. Alex will have numerous chances to meet a variety of different people from many walks of life, but he will never have someone who appreciates him as his ex-wife."

Alex was shaken with various thoughts, that he could not do anything but stand still in his present position and watched the couple having deep intimacy gradually vanishing at the small corner. Only when the tiny and sweet voice of Kitten calling him helped revive him.

"Dad! I just saw mom, Maddy. Mother was much prettier than her being in the old photo at our home."

"Kitten, who did you meet? Can you tell me again?" Alex glanced at Emily who was dashing to their position, he quickly sat down in front of his child.
