Chapter 10  Attending the Party Together

"What are you doing at the Alex Corporation? Speak!" John's angry and terrifying face approached Elly.

Elly is startled. Her eyes rolled and his words suddenly made her stomach turn.

"John! Where are you going? Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be at work at this moment?"

"Elly!" John Elliott shouted while he squeezed her shoulder.

"Didn't I forbid you from going to this company to apply for a job?"

Elly's body is shaken violently. Her tears gushed out and was followed by a throbbing pain in her shoulder.

"I'm..."

John did not let her finish her words and rudely pulled her hands away from the door of the big building.

"Follow me! Get out of this place! Right now!"

Her aching wrist is being dragged away. Elly knew that he is angry, so she ran after him. She felt a sense of resentment since this is the first time she is scolded by John. Having gone quite far away from the company, John turned right into a small empty lane beside the main road, and then turned back to continue scolding the person behind him, but then he found out that Elly's eyes have been flooded with tears.

"You are crying for what? Have I mistaken your fault?"

Elly jerked her hand away, looked at the red fingerprint marks on her white skin as her tears continuously streamed down her beautiful face. She then came in front of John.

"Can you rub them?"

John immediately has the intention to hold her hands like his usual and regular thing to do, but he remembered that he is angry with her and glared at Elly instead. His body stood still that showed his indifference.

"Don't try to act like a baby. Since when did you know how to lie to me? Are my words nothing to you? You look down on me. Don't you, Elly?"

Elly is not adored by John unlike the usual. She knew that her coming to that company has made John unhappy. She scooted close to him, grabbed his sleeve and said in a tiny voice:

"John, I have acknowledged my fault. Please don't be mad at me, John?" Elly's round eyes sparkled with tears. Her plump lips poutted when she said her apology to John. Every time she did this, John could never resist her.

"You are not allowed to go to that company to apply for a job, have you remembered?"

Elly pouted and nodded, and tryied to turn to another story.

"Why are you going out at this hour?"

"I have a job recently." John suddenly bent over to make a gentlemen's invitation.

"There is a party tonight that you must join. My Princess, can you come with me?"

Elly burst into laughter, put her right hand in his big hand and slightly shrugged in response.

"Always be ready, my Prince."

Because Elly wants to compensate for her mistake when she did not listened to John's words during the day, she tried her best to prepare everything correctly for the evening party. She chose the most beautiful dress and her makeup is gorgeous but simple at the same time. She doesn't want John to feel ashamed when taking her with him.

As she went with John to the main hall, Elly is marveled at the lavishness of the party.

"Such a big party, there are certainly many noble people. Is it okay if you take me with you like this?"

"Elly, you must be confident in your appearance." John is mesmerized by only looking at her.

Elly blushed shyly, and she is still a bit overwhelmed by John's love in her heart.

"But this face has gone through surgery before..."

John lightly bit her luscious red lips. He slowly kissed her as if he's tasting a fine wine. John moved his lips to her ear, then whispered. "You are the prettiest girl tonight."

John's breath is so close that the perfume on him made Elly's mind lack clarity.

John immediately straightened up. His indifferent gaze is put directly on a familiar face.

Across the hall, the crowds are surrounding a well-mannered man. He has a handsome face hidden under the cold, brutal temperament as he expressed an arrogant nonchalance with the enthusiastic conversation of other boss and investors who wanted to expand their relationship.

John knew this man. Alex, the head of the Corporation Group. He is known as a cold-blooded and cruel man.

Three years ago, John understood clearly who is in Maddy's heart, and Alex was that someone. Even though she continued being hurt by him, she still humiliated herself to follow that man.

John is afraid that the girl he loves would leave him and return to Alex like three years ago.

The fear in his heart caused John to instruct Elly the second time.

"Elly, promise me that you will never mention to anyone that you have had plastic surgery, okay?"

Elly found John's stubborn attitude challenging to understand, so she asked with surprise.

"Why do I have to tell others about that?"

Suddenly seeing someone planned to approach them, he found out that Alex is that someone that he hates is the one coming. On the other hand, John did not focus on answering Elly's question. His face is a bit pale under the light, the man's cold appearance made him feel sick.

Elly hurriedly shook his hand worriedly.

"John, your face looks not very good. Are you not feeling well? I will take you to the side to have a rest. Or do you need me to find a doctor to examine you? Such a big party like this must have amateur doctors, right?"

John is anxious but also cannot held back his laugh.

"The amateur doctors? Why do you think of that word?"

Elly stomped on his feet because she was toyed. John quickly coaxed her.

"Okay Princess, why don't we go somewhere more open and have some fresh air?"

Elly took John's hand, intending to go straight ahead.

"Of course, my prince."

"Isn't this the young master? After three years without seeing each other, it seems that John's taste has improved."

A sarcastic voice resounded with a large body, suddenly blocked their path.

Elly tilted her head to look at the tall man in a well-cut suit. He looked incredibly handsome, a long square face, split chin, high nose bridge and thick lips which were very seductive.

Seductive? Elly was startled because she finds a stranger sexy for the first time they met.

She blushed shyly as she silently stood beside, waiting for John.

By his way of addressing, she guessed that John did know the man.

"Mr. Alex. My own story doesn't bother you. I still have something to do, so I can't continue talking to you." John replied coldly, deliberately leaned to kiss Elly's forehead lightly.

"Elly, let's go."

Being intimate in front of many people, Elly confusedly looked at him.

Her eyes met Alex's sharp and bloody eyes. The bloodthirsty ferociusness inside his look attracted all her senses. Elly felt herself being unable to move. She suddenly could not breathe.

Alex rolled his eyes over Elly's body. He couldn't deny that this girl right here was gorgeous tonight. Alex rubbed his chin, squinted and assessed Elly like an object.

"Who is this beautiful lady? Come on, why have we never met?"

John stepped up to block in front of her, blocking the two people's vision.

"Sir, please do not be so careless like this. This is my fiancé, I hope you would respect her."

"Fiancé? So was the actress Maddy. John's beloved one has been forgotten?"

"Someone like you doesn't deserve to mention Maddy's name." John clenched his fist, and angrily spoke.

"If I don't deserve to do it, then do you?" Alex stepped forward, he narrowed the gap between the two people. A fierce and arrogant aura is immediately radiating around. Alex sternly said.

"Maddy really did not look at people. Always pouring out beautiful words about love and look for the wrong person. The truth is less than three short years, the Young Master John quickly gets a new lover. Such a ridiculous and shameful love of you two!"

Being mocked and ridiculed, plus being suspected of not having feelings for Maddy for the past three years, John was nearly defeated by Alex.

Some people who wanted to please Alex came by quickly and criticized John.

"Isn't this John the Young Master? I heard that three years ago his grand dad passed away upon hearing him living in the same house with a pregnant woman."

"I even heard that the baby didn't belong to John."

"Because of a woman, he killed his loved one. But now, he quickly ends up with another fiancé. Such a bastard. This situation is truly rare."

"The girl standing next to him is his fiancée? How pitiful, such a beautiful girl but she has really been deceived. This kind of man is literally trash."

Elly found that John had previously loved another woman astonishing. Three years of being together, John was always the right person, very loyal and always takes good care of her. John couldn't do these kinds of things. Then who was the wrong person talked about by these people?

Elly glared at Alex, who was standing still and ignoring the public's criticism towards John. She stepped forward, wanted to come out to explain on behalf of John.

"You guys have no evidence to this story, so you people cannot do John dirty like that. He is..."

"Elly, shut your mouth!" John shouted and stopped Elly with an unhappy face.
