Chapter 23: Chapter 23
Sadeeq gulped a lump down his throat and felt as his legs dragged him to where she was; now laughing over what Ummu told her. She was still oblivious to his presence in the kitchen, and that made it looked more alluring than it already was, to his eyes.
"I should close the lid and wait? What if it burns because I'm not watching?" She asked innocently, taking the lid off the countertop and placed it over the boiling pot.
"Okay, it's now closed. But we should gist before the five minutes ticked-I might be carried away with something." Ihsan said and tried backing away from the phone; when she felt his arms snaked softly around her waist and he pushed her to him, placing his head on her right shoulder.
She shrieked! Afraid that it might be someone that intruded their house, "Ummu!!! Someone has clutched me tight, I'm afraid who it is. Am I getting kidnapped, Ummu?" She hushed, and Sadeeq could see the pulse of her heart beating at a rapid rate. She was afraid to steer her eyes and see him.
Sadeeq chuckled internally and tickled her left hip and she soak in a deep breath. "Hey, Ihsanuwa it's me! You freaked out and might even pass out the next minute!" And he bursted into a series of laughter, smiling at how she exhaled deeply and turned around completely.
"Ummu wallahi warn him! I almost dashed out because of his stupid threats! This boy knows I'm angry at him but he hugged me still! Ummu here, warn him!" She was rolling her eyes and talking in an angry voice, before she placed the phone on Sadeeq's left ear-whom was looking at her with nothing but a smile on his face.
"Sadeeq!" Ummu was talking so hard not to sound disturbed by the moment they were in. She could remember Ihsan comfortably saying he hugged her from behind, his hands snaked round her waist. Kids nowadays didn't have an iota of shyness.
"Ummu good evening. How's Abbu and Manal?" He asked and scratched his nape, bringing Ihsan closer to his chest, turning her to her back.
"Sadeeq I don't know whatever it is you did to her, but she seemed quite annoyed about it. Apologize to her." She acted as if she didn't heard the growl Ihsan made while making an attempt to push him off her body and the 'shusssh' sound he made on her lips.
"Ummu this girl is super annoying herself. Could you imagine, she called me a boy before a waiter and wanted taking the waiter's digits fah. She's just mad and useless. And now she couldn't let me hug her, Ummu!" He ended up whining at Ihsan's attempt to free herself out of his hold.
Ummu silently gasped and palmed her face, she wasn't going to deal with these shenanigans of theirs. She made a mental note of telling Maama that she should call them and let them know that they should call her whenever their childishness arose.
"Whatever is it sort it out, you should be treating her nicely, Sadeeq. And stop telling me you want to hug her, how unshy of you!" She briskly replied and tried hanging up when Ihsan shouted and smacked his chest.
"Ummu wallahi he's disturbing my life, and now my indomie will get burnt!" She whined and smacked his chest so hard to get out of Sadeeq's hug.
"Ummu she should just let me hug her and silently kiss her then she can do whatever it is she's doing. But she's proving stubborn." They were rising their voices to the phone, and the phone was now on speaker so they could hear whomever Ummu got on her side.
"Look kids, I'm going to beat the hell out of you all! Hugging her or kissing her is none of my business just know I won't accept a grand child this year. Do what suits you well." And she hanged up the call, grimacing her face at Abbu that was sitting opposite her, grinning at her, he heard the phone call.
"And now you made her think of something else, Ya rabb! Sadeeq it's either you get your useless hand off my body or wallahi what I'm doing next wouldn't be sweet to you. I have something boiling in a pot for god sake!" He was still hugging her from behind, and whenever she tried getting herself out of the hold-his hands that were at the either side of her waist would brush her hips and she would stiff at the contact.
"It's just simple, Ihsan. Let me kiss you and I'll let you finish your cooking. But that doesn't mean our fight is over, it's still pending and we will talk about it late, I'm yet to forgive you!" He forcefully turned her back and their chests were meshed. She looked up at him and found his eyes directly onto her lips-she pulled them in.
"Sadeeq, please. My indomie will get burnt, and this is my first time cooking anything in my life-I want to be proud of it. About our fight, I'm not even supposed to be talking to you now." She could perceive the aroma coming from her sizzling pot, and she had never been eager of seeing anything than she was of seeing how her indomie turned out.
"It's simple, just a small kiss and we're good." Intensely staring at her, he smiled when her shoulders slumped in defeat.
"Know that I can vomit because of this simple kiss, Sadeeq. Your mouth is awful, I hope you wouldn't taste like yesterday." And she pursed her lips forward, waiting for the arrival of his lips on her. She might've said he tasted awful, because she couldn't tell him how sweet he tasted.
He watched as she closed her eyes-to show him how irritated she was of him. And pursed her lips forward so he could do his simple kiss and she would get back to her precious indomie. He leaned in and placed his lips on hers, she didn't bulge. Taking her lower lip in his, what supposed to be a simple kiss turned out to a deep passionate kiss that they couldn't break their lips until Ihsan's indomie got burnt-she backed away abruptly.
"My indomie!" She shrieked and opened the lid, staring at the remaining of her supposed to be indomie, she broke into tears. This was the indomie she put all her hopes on, she planned on snapping a picture of it and sending it to Daada so he could see the first dish she ever made in her life. She knew he would be proud of her. And having nothing but a burnt indomie in her pot wouldn't make her Daada proud. It's all Sadeeq's fault.
She dangerously turned to Sadeeq and he had his hands brought up into surrender position, palms holding his ears in a manner that said 'I'm sorry'. The gesture, just the gesture made her forgot about her indomie, and this was the first time Sadeeq made her speechless. How his eyes had something in them, the pout on his lips-the lips she just tasted minutes ago. She slumped her shoulder and turned off the gas.
"I'm hungry!" She cried and slumped on the bare floor of the kitchen, Sadeeq followed her steps.
"I'm hungry too. You're the wife, and you should make us something to eat." He knew this would definitely instigate the insult he didn't get just minutes ago.
She looked at him and rolled her eyes-and Sadeeq knew this eye roll would soon be the death of him. She smacked his head so hard that he had to yelp. "You're mad! MAD! How could you even say that after you just made my first ever cooked indomie burnt? And the worst part is I can't even remember the procedures Ummu told me. And if I am to call her now, she would think I've already given birth and called to inform her. Considering how you were all touchy. A slight clarification, no one here is the wife or husband; we're just one year gap partners." She ranted in one breath and exhaled deeply when she came to an end. All the seconds she used while talking, her eyes were rolling infuriately.
He chuckled and brought her to his body, side hugging her. He leaned in and pecked her head, "Easy there tigress, should I admit? This asshole you have as a husband is nothing but an idiot that he could let his frail wife that has an incomplete hemoglobin alone in her lecture room that she even have to cry. And he's an idiot for scaring her newest found crush away with his angry eyes. He's sorry for insulting her fully curved hips and full thighs that she had to wear a skimpy shirt to show him she's fully curved-and he couldn't resist hugging her and kissing those lips of hers he loves more when she insults him. So Enemy, I love you-we good?"
"You insulted me twice there!" She looked up from his body and rolled her eyes at him; scuppering the kind of insults she'll rant on him.
He grinned and placed her head back on his chest, "Enemy, we're both hungry, arguing won't do us any help. Just tell me you love me too and we shall go out on a date, eat and buy your reading materials." He pinched her cheeks and began caressing her bare arms.
"Okay, we're going back to MRA bakery and restaurant? I just love the place."
"We're never going back there, anywhere but there."
"It's okay then, I'd miss Imran's cute face tho. I love you."
"That's my enemy, I love you too."
