Chapter 37: Chapter 37

ANGELIQUE SLOAN’S POV

At that point, I knew that there was no more room for lies. The undeniable frustration that’s shown in Greyson’s face made his veins pop out from his forehead. There’s no right for me to complain about anything. “I can’t believe you, Angelique. Were you actually the one who’s pulling the strings, thinking that I was the one in control?” Greyson asked, accusing me of being a manipulative woman.

I laughed, trying to set the atmosphere back to normal. “You were just that easy to play with, Greyson. It’s been years since we’ve been apart, and you really thought that I’d simply let you do as you please with me?”

Greyson shook his head with a smirk on his face, removing his hold on my chin. “I knew it. I told you before, didn’t I? That there was something different about you, despite knowing that you’re still Angelique,” he murmured.

I can’t understand myself anymore. If only I could be honest and tell him that, maybe he could actually help me think straight.

We were supposed to argue a little bit longer, but Gabriela intervened. “I don’t know if I’m interrupting something here... My husband is calling you, Greyson.”

It was the very first time that I’ve heard her speak that softly. I knew that she had always been angelic, but it’s quite rare for her to act like one.

“Is something wrong?” I asked out of pure curiosity, even though I knew that I had no authority to meddle with their family’s issues. “S-sorry, I shouldn’t have asked,” I immediately took back my query.

A sweet smile was planted on Gabriela’s lips as she stepped forth, stopping beside me as she pushed Greyson out of my reach. She gestured to him to get inside the club and find his father.

“Do you know everything that your husband has been doing here?” Gabriela questioned me.

I bit my lower lip, knowing that there’s no need for me to hide the truth from her. She’s a grown adult, and I’m pretty sure that she can handle everything professionally. “Yes. Even though I’ve returned only recently, I heard all of Greyson’s filthy business here,” I answered without any second thoughts.

Gabriela caressed my back out of the blue, causing me to widen my eyes in shock. “You must’ve felt disgusted with Greyson. I’m so sorry you had to go through all those just because of our son, Angelique. If only we could turn back time, I would’ve lectured him on how to treat a woman right,” she said sincerely.

I shook my head. “Even if we can go back in time, there’s no way that Greyson would’ve chosen a different path. He has always been hungry for women’s attention,” I mumbled, followed by a fake laugh.

I explained how Greyson ran his nightclub. Even to the point where he asked me to find women for him, since he hasn’t gotten any for a few weeks. Gabriela kept on giving me a pat in the back, as if she were trying to force tears to come out of my eyes.

“Don’t worry about it, Gabriela. I’m already numb from everything Greyson has done. I assumed worse than this, so I’m really fine,” I said to assure his mother.

A few moments later, there were consecutive sounds of glass breaking inside the club. Gabriela and I looked at each other before we decided to hurry inside. The people were causing a huge commotion. Most of them were screaming because of Greg’s rage.

“Greg! Greyson! Stop that; we’re not yet home. You’re going to scare everyone here. What if they report you to the police? Do you think that they will easily let you off the hook?” Gabriela attempted to stop the two, but they were both in their own worlds to notice those around them.

I furrowed my eyebrows, realizing that this wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t bring them here. “Let them be, Gabriela. They’re not kids,” I said, grabbing onto her wrist when she tried to get in between them.

“But, look!” Gabriela pointed in the direction of Greg’s hand, where I saw a shard of glass. “If Greg loses control of himself, he might end up murdering his own son right in front of everyone!”

Sighing, I tried to keep my composure in check. I had to analyze the situation properly if I wanted to help. However, once I step forward, it would be the same as saying that I’m prepared to face death.

“Do you know what Greg told Greyson?” I asked Gabriela.

She nodded her head once at the same time that she clasped her hands together. “As far as I know, Greg was planning to take Greyson’s life once he entered the club. That was why I tried to stay sane when I told my son that his father was calling him,” Gabriela answered.

I clicked my tongue, as her response didn’t help me at all.

“Isn’t there anything else in particular? Like, he’d discard Greyson as his son?” I asked again.

Gabriela shook her head. “I don’t know anymore, Angelique. I thought that we would be discussing this once we get back, but Greg is not listening to me.”

There’s no use in trying to get answers from his mother. She’s been sucked up by the current situation. Glancing around the club, everyone seems to be in the same position as Gabriela. They were all focused on the fight between Greg and Greyson. No one had the courage to stop them.

“Greyson! Are you just going to let your father do what he wants with your life? Will you be pleased to leave this world if you already know that I’ve got my eye on your family’s business? That wouldn’t be too cool, right?” I consecutively inquired, provoking Greyson to get back to his senses.

Greyson suddenly screamed his lungs out. He banged his forehead towards his father’s, causing Greg to almost lose his balance and stumble on the ground. Fortunately, Greyson still had a soft spot for his father, as he tightly held Greg’s hand to prevent him from falling.

“Let’s go home, Greyson,” I whispered under my breath as if there wasn’t any noise around us.
