Chapter 13: Chapter 13

ANGELIQUE SLOAN’s POV

“W-what..?” I was at a loss for words when I heard the news from his own mouth. “Greyson Giovanni, please tell me that you’re kidding around right now. Take back what you said and tell me that it was a mere hoax,” I said, which kind of sounded desperate of me.

Greyson didn’t respond, he was standing there with his shoulders moving slowly in an upward and downward motion. His breathing was heavy and I could feel that he wasn’t joking, that my mom really was alive.

When I soon came to realize that it was the truth, my world seemed to have stopped.

“There’s still no concrete evidence regarding your mother, I still have some investigation to work on, so don’t panic that much, Angelique. You can assure that your father is gone from this world though, since he was the one who received such a fatal blow from you back at the forest that night,” Greyson softly whispered to me to at least calm me down. He must have seen that I’ve been shaking. “For now, you should stay with me in my vacation house. There’s a slight chance that your mother would actually come to search for you right away, she must still be lying on a hospital bed somewhere.”

Greyson came closer to give me a warm embrace. I could feel the fast beating of his heart as his chest leaned upon mine. “How about you? Exactly how did you gather this information?” I asked out of pure curiosity.

“There’s nothing you should worry about me, Angelique. I’m capable of almost everything and anything within this world,” he answered, which doesn’t even directly answer my query.

He’s most probably hiding something from me, and I believe that he will tell me about it sooner or later once it has been settled. I set those thoughts aside and reverted the conversation back to its main topic. “Am I supposed to stand by you and Kim… do whatever you want?” While I was blabbering those words out, there was a second when I shortly felt a heating sensation which rose up to my cheeks, as if I wouldn’t want to watch them being intimate with one another.

Surprisingly, he let go of me at the exact moment that I mentioned Kim’s name. “Whether you like it or not, that’s a part of your job. Besides that, I don’t want to think that you learned from someone else…” he murmured the last sentence at the same time that he avoided making eye contact with me.

“What are you saying? You already did it with me, don’t you remember?”

“I know that there have been considerably a lot of unwanted experiences that you’ve been through, and I’m not going to dig deeper into that; I don’t want you to see me as someone who’s only great at being lustful,” Greyson said with a serious expression.

Greyson really changed…

However, I’m still having second thoughts if he’s only acting like this since we’ve recently met again. Things might be worse as days pass by. But if he’s not pretending, then that means that he’s giving me an opportunity to start over with my life.

A life wherein my parents weren’t there to begin with.

A life where only Greyson was the only one who matters to me.

***

Greyson didn’t waste time any longer as he led the way on the second floor of Giovan’s Night Club.

“Not there.” He pulled my arm close to him when I was about to rotate the door knob of the room from where he brought me before. “That’s a private room and it’s limited to only myself. Consider yourself lucky as I brought you inside there despite knowing that there is a lot of equipment which you shouldn’t see,” he explained.

I shrugged my shoulders. “I don’t really care about your properties though. You already know since we were children that I never had any interest in the belongings of other people; I don’t even mind if one of my things gets missing.”

“So that explains why you never cared when I went missing, huh?”

My eyes literally widened in shock. “Wha—”

“Kim? Are you inside? Open the goddamn door! I didn’t tell you to lock yourself in there,” Greyson yelled as he continuously knocked on the door with such a loud thud.

I was unable to talk about what he said as Kim immediately opened the door and greeted him with a smile, which quickly faded when she saw that I was beside him. “Why is she still here? Isn’t this supposed to be our time alone together?” she asked as her lips arched for a second.

“How many times do I have to repeat for you to understand that she’s my personal secretary?”

I gasped with how Greyson approached Kim. He kept on changing his attitude towards her and I’m starting to think that there’s something wrong with his personality.

“You’re really the man that I love,” Kim mumbled with a sweet grin.

Kim swayed her waist in a swift motion as she extended her arm to reach Greyson’s nape and to pull his head closer to her face. Their lips almost touched if only he wasn’t able to take control of his own body.

I clenched my fist and positioned it in front of my chest as I slowly closed the door from behind, making sure that no sound was made. They haven’t even started anything, and I’m already getting this weird feeling that I’d end up hurt if I witness him kissing another woman… even right after he said that he doesn’t want me to learn erotic things from anyone else other than him.

“Look closely, secretary of Greyson…” Kim glanced at me for a short period of time just to provoke the hell out of me.

Kim kissed Greyson as soon as she noticed that I’ve been watching them. Her fingers kept on playing with his hair as she gently planted kisses around his ear until she was able to reach his neck.

“Ugh, Kim…”

Even from the place from where I was standing, I could still clearly hear his sincere moans… that completely broke my heart.
