Chapter 20: Chapter 20
Joel then did not want to continue teasing Primrose, fearing that she would run away because of her shyness. He leisurely washed the dishes and then went up to his room, unexpectedly bumping into Primrose, who was opening the door and running out.
"I'm going to get a drink."
Primrose swallowed and said a word, suddenly feeling bitter and dry. Joel just nodded and then very politely gave way, and Primrose bowed his head to continue.
"I'm not a scoundrel, you don't need to be afraid."
Joel mutters, suddenly somewhat melancholy. Obviously, he had already scared Primrose away.
Primrose, after going down to the kitchen, took a large sip of water to calm down. The situation had become more and more unbalanced lately, and she felt more and more wary of Joel. Brought an unwelcome mood into this marriage that began, and did not intend to be serious with Joel, however, Primrose gradually lost her original steadfastness.
She needs time to adapt to such a big change.
Thinking about doing it, after returning to her room, she immediately called Nancy.
"Nancy, are you free tonight?"
Nancy seemed to be talking to someone; it was a bit noisy next to her, but she was quick to respond.
"With you, I always have free time. What's up?"
Primrose took a deep breath and continued.
"Are you going to the bar tonight? We used to go to the shop before."
Primrose spoke very softly and with familiarity, but this clearly frightened Nancy. She quickly sat up straight, pursed her lips slightly to keep her composure.
"Primrose, did you and your husband quarrel today?"
As for this headless question from Nancy, Primrose was very difficult to understand. She thought for a moment, estimating the situation in recent days.
"No, we are still good. What's wrong?"
Primrose heard it clearly; Nancy was saying to the person next to her, "It looks like my friend has had some kind of shock."
"Primrose, I thought you turned into a good and good wife after marrying Joel. Do you know how long it's been since you showed up for our bar dates?"
Primrose vaguely recalled, and Nancy said this seriously and with absolute certainty, that it must have been a long time since Primrose had suggested going to the bar.
Before, or rather, before marrying Joel, Primrose loved going to the bar; almost every week she was the first to invite friends in their group to the bar on the weekend. She goes to the bar so much that she knows all the bartenders and is also known as the "bar queen" by her friends because whenever they come, they will find Primrose drinking there.
However, it seems that when Joel appeared, Primrose was much more docile.
At least, her daily life has become "healthier"; she no longer thinks about going to the bar until morning as before, just wanting to go to bed early every day.
"Hmm, maybe a few months."
Primrose can't really remember the last time she went to the bar. However, Nancy remembers it very well.
"It's been over half a year, almost seven months, Primrose. Or rather, since the first time we met Joel at the bar that day, we all haven't seen you on dates anymore."
This statement also left Primrose extremely surprised. Something flashed through her heart, but she quickly brushed it away, replacing it with a firm word.
"Then I need to return to my familiar place tonight. From today, I will return to being the queen of the bar."
Nancy smiled too, evidently pleased with this statement from Primrose.
"Okay, so tonight I'll bring my boyfriend too, that doctor guy."
Primrose happily agreed and excitedly said that Nancy had invited her close friends or gone to the bar with them to come along, promising to be at the bar in an hour. It's almost 8 p.m. right now, but it's time for the nightlife to begin, which is still early.
There are some things that can't be thought through right now, and she doesn't intend to stay stuck in that line of thought anymore.
Maybe in a few days, everything will be balanced again.
Primrose changed into a short black two-piece dress with glitter, hugging every curve of her body and letting her soft black hair down. She deliberately wore heavier makeup than usual, put on striking red lipstick, and also chose a perfume with a stronger and more seductive scent than the usual light scent.
After finishing her makeup, Primrose was very pleased to look at her in the mirror; her big round eyes sparkled, her nose was high and straight, her face was white and rosy, and especially her red lips were extremely attractive. Her beautiful and attractive figure was hidden behind a black two-piece dress; she put on a thin white shirt outside to reduce the cold and then took out her bag.
When she came downstairs to find Joel still downstairs in the living room watching TV, she walked up to him softly.
"I'm going to the bar tonight with Nancy and some close friends; I will be back late; you go to sleep first; there's no need to wait for me."
When Joel heard the voice, he tilted his head and looked over, discovering that Primrose had already changed, wearing a dress that was both short and tight. He frowned slightly, suddenly remembering the first day he met Primrose, she was both beautiful and extremely attractive like this; each smile was like directly beating his heart.
Today, Primrose is dressed like this. Does she want to attract who?
Joel wonders, bewildered but still trying to compose himself, and hums.
"Need I take you to the bar? Which bar?"
Primrose turned the car key in her hand, brushing her hair away.
"No need; I drove by myself. The bar is close to home."
Watching Primrose's slender figure disappear, Joel felt extremely blinded, suddenly wanting to keep Primrose, even though they had agreed from the beginning not to interfere in each other's private lives.
Until the faint engine sound sounded, Joel was still sitting in the same place, a feeling of emptiness slowly rising in his heart. Recently, Primrose, who always played the role of a gentle wife who did not go out often, suddenly returned to the image of the past, making him unable to absorb it. And now, he also remembered that Primrose was once a girl who was both beautiful and shining like a rose; everyone wanted to touch her.
Primrose, after driving to the bar, quickly found a sense of familiarity and stopped paying attention to her husband, who was still at home. She quickly asked Nancy for the room number and quickly entered. She saw Nancy sitting next to a man wearing a black suit, and gold-rimmed glasses, very handsome at first glance, smiling charmingly.
"Nancy, aren't you going to introduce me a little?"
Nancy obviously knew Primrose was teasing and simply tilted her head back, leaning on the shoulder of the man next to her, chin up slightly.
"I talked to you on the phone already. This is my boyfriend; her name is Brave; he is the surgeon at the most famous hospital in this city."
Primrose is now seriously evaluating Brave. At first glance, the man is very calm, his gestures are all very gentle, and his face is very attractive, his appearance is true to Nancy's boyfriend's gout. She didn't say much, just nodded, listening to Nancy introduce her to her boyfriend.
"And this is Primrose, my best friend, whom I often mention."
Bril very politely shook hands with Primrose; the two were also considered to be acquainted. Finished, Primrose looked around; there were a few of their close friends already sitting there waiting; seeing that Primrose finished talking, he began to approach her.
"Primrose, lately you seem to have completely disappeared. We texted the group to invite you to the bar to play, but you did not respond enthusiastically. Enjoying a "two-person world" at home with your husband?"
The person talking is Ava; the relationship between the two is very good, so Ava is obviously not polite, and every word can make others blush. Primrose ignored the teasing pretty face and casually took a sip of the wine in front of her.
"Aren't I back now? What game do you want to play tonight?"
Ava also took a glass of wine and shared it with Primrose, smiling slightly.
"Calm down, we talked for a while and then played; it's been so long since we've seen each other."
Primrose is also very relaxed, and the people next to him can't talk. When they gather, the most often mentioned topics are interesting stories about the lives of the people around them.
"Did you know about Taylor yet?"
A friend opened the door first, successfully sending the crowd into a frenzy to continue.
"What's up? I heard before that she married a rich but elderly man who wears designer clothes every day and constantly brags about the expensive price of those clothes in front of others."
"Yes, I also met her before; she was asking her husband to buy a precious diamond ring, and I despised having no one to buy one."
Everyone quickly stirred, and the person who started this story also mysteriously laughed.
"I heard that her husband is in love with a hot model who is famous nearby; yesterday, Taylor also made a fuss because her husband did not come home at night, went to the other model's house to sleep, and made a fuss. Now everyone laughs at her because she was greedy for money and married the other husband, now regretting it is too late."
Primrose wasn't interested in other people's business, but Taylor was different. Previously, she and Taylor were in the same class at the university; Primrose did not pay attention to Taylor, but she often tried to anger Primrose. Taylor said that Primrose's aristocratic appearance, always trying to bully her, often caused her to speak badly of herself in front of her classmates.
So, hearing that Taylor wasn't living well, Primrose just commented that this could be retribution.
"Don't drink alone; let me drink with you."
