Chapter 10: Chapter 10

"Sister-in-law, there is a very beautiful flower garden here with a lot of expensive flowers, do you want to go see flowers with me?"

Because Joel's mother loves flowers, there is a large greenhouse in the house just to grow colorful flowers, always with plenty of light. Primrose obviously didn't expect Ava to be so close to her, but she nevertheless nodded, wanting to see what Ava really wanted to do.

When she stood up, Joel gently took her hand as if to advise her, but Primrose just nodded at him reassuringly. She was also curious to know why her cousin Joel seemed to hate her after meeting her for the first time.

"How did you seduce my brother to marry you?"

Just stopping by the greenhouse flower garden, seeing no one around, Ava smiled faintly, crossed her arms, and looked at Primrose with disdain, as if Primrose were a woman of tricks.

"What are you saying? He is my fiancé, and sooner or later I will get married. What do I have to do to find ways to seduce him? Do I look so free?"

The other was unkind, and of course, Primrose responded with a tough tone. Ava's face paled briefly, but she then cleared her throat and continued.

"It is true that I did not misunderstand, you are not the gentle type of woman; you are only good at pretending. Your appearance is also very dignified, though not as dignified as Auntie's."

As soon as she heard this name, Primrose understood everything. It turns out that it's because of Joel's ex. Last time it was Auntie's best friend, this time it was Joel's cousin. All kinds of people came to find her just to protect this woman, making Primrose curious, what kind of woman will Auntie end up being?

"So what? It doesn't change things, I'm my sister-in-law now. And you talk to me in such a rude tone; didn't your parents teach you to respect someone older than you?"

This word is indirectly saying that Ava is uneducated, making her face red from anger, and her eyes even more vicious.

"Who are you talking about? You don't deserve to be my sister-in-law, wicked woman."

Primrose pursed her lips to continue teasing Ava, but her eyes flickered over the black hem of someone else's shirt that came into view, immediately changing her expression.

"I know I can't match Auntie, but you can't be so harsh on me either."

Primrose spoke in a voice that was both weak and choked, with her head slightly lowered, making her appearance look pitiful. Ava's gaze became confused for a moment, and she continued to suppress a smile.

"Ava, I will try to be nice to you. Can we live in harmony? I know I'm not the sister-in-law you want, but I'll try to please you. Give me a chance, please."

After saying that, Primrose also deliberately lowered her voice to make her look more pitiful, and Ava suddenly panicked and couldn't keep up with the story. She was about to say something when she heard a cold voice from a man.

"Ava, what are you doing? How could you insult Primrose like that?"

Joel walked over, hugged Primrose's waist gently from behind to protect her, and shouted loudly at Ava. Of course, he knew that this was a small trick of hers, but he still happily complied, and deliberately left her not long after to help her. Moreover, just seeing her standing there alone made his heart uncomfortable.

Anyway, Ava has no right to bully Primrose like that.

"You, I don't..."

Ava weakly retorted, finally understanding why Primrose was suddenly saying such incomprehensible words. This woman really knows how to pretend.

"Be obedient to your sister-in-law from now on. If not, I'll have your parents cut off all of your money."

After Joel finished speaking, he and Primrose left, without giving Ava time to explain further. At this point, Primrose did not need to disguise herself anymore, she happily curled her lips and smiled, showing off to Joel.

"You see how I act? Is there potential to be a famous actor?"

Primrose's expectant twinkling eyes softened Joel's heart, and he nodded in agreement, taking Primrose's hand.

"Yes, very well. But don't face it by yourself in the future, let me go with you no matter what."

Earlier, Joel had planned to go out with Primrose to see what Ava was up to, but because of Primrose's reassuring gaze, he trusted her to go alone. However, next time, he didn't have the heart to let her face it alone.

"I know."

Primrose pouted. This little thing, she can handle it well. Anyway, just now, she was just a little angry, and Ava was almost mad.

After the unhappy story in the garden, when Primrose and Joel returned, neither said a word and quietly sat down on the sofa. A moment later, Ava entered, and they just looked at her once with warning eyes without saying anything more.

Ava had been intimidated before, so of course she's very docile now. After sitting for a while, the invisible pressure around her made it difficult to breathe, so she had to find an excuse to leave.

"Did you guys have an argument just now?"

Joel's mother observantly noticed that the faces of the three of them were not good after the meeting just now and asked softly. Primrose shook her head, not wanting the adults to worry about their own affairs.

"It's okay, Mom, don't worry."

Joel's mother wanted to say more, but seeing Primrose's pleasant smile, said nothing more. In matters involving the children, she also does not want to interfere too deeply.

The two of them sat for a while and then went home together. Primrose sat in the car, letting out a deep sigh, bemoaning herself for being so bad before.

Her mother-in-law is a gentle, calm woman. Her father-in-law, although his face is somewhat cold, always shows kindness to her. However, at the first meeting, she dyed her hair a weird color and acted uneducated in front of them, as if trampling on their sincere feelings.

"Did I act like an idiot before? That time?"

Primrose suddenly asked a question, tilting her head to look at Joel. She only saw Joel curling his lips into a smile and patting the steering wheel with his fingers.

"No. They also understand how you feel. Suddenly being forced to marry a strange man, the two have no feelings, even though everyone lacks a sense of security."

Even so, Primrose was still very apologetic. In her mind, she decided that, in the future, she would be better to her parents-in-law than before to make up for the mistake she wanted to make.

"My parents don't mind that, but it's the opposite of you. I want to hurry to treat them well like that. Do my duty as a daughter-in-law, should I do my wife's duty first?"

A light breeze brushed Joel's hair, and he arched his eyes as Primrose smiled incredulously. Primrose pursed her lips and tilted her head toward the window, determined not to respond to his conversation.

With no response for a long time, Joel glanced at the pouting girl sitting near the car window, suddenly wanting to laugh. When she first met her, she was like an untamed feral cat, acting on her own, seemingly indifferent. However, when she got closer, she discovered that she was very attentive to the feelings of the people around her, and was extremely sensitive. Indeed, they were as sweet as his nickname for her, "sweetie".

And the next month was very peaceful, partly because Primrose was in a state of being happy and enjoying it all.

Primrose originally assumed that marriage to Joel would turn her life upside down, but reality proved that they were no different than before. She is still on time to work every day, except that Joel will be the driver to take her to work.

It would also be nice to have someone else take good care of her, Primrose thought. In addition to the fact that sometimes Joel will say some indecent words, his personality is very good, and he also knows how to take care of her. Primrose is now no longer too hostile toward this marriage.

Sometimes, when she is happy, she will also go to the kitchen to cook some snacks for her and Joel, although Joel is not too fond of sweets, he is also very obedient. This made Primrose very pleased.

Now she is planning to bake a small seafood pizza for both of them. Today, she got off work early, had nothing to do, and wanted to eat pizza with Joel and watch a movie together.

"Do you need some help, Primrose?"

Joel returned later today than her, at this time he changed into comfortable clothes at home and stepped down. Joel chose a simple short-sleeve T-shirt that made his muscles appear invisible, Primrose involuntarily had to look away.

It is impossible not to admit that Joel's body is very beautiful and very suitable for her aesthetic.

"Then help me chop the bell pepper."

Primrose pointed to the bag next to him, and Joel slowly walked over, the distance between the two also shortened. Obviously, the kitchen was spacious, but Joel purposely stood very close to Primrose, his masculine breath and soft scent making it impossible for her to fully concentrate on slicing the vegetables in her hands.

This person was clearly trying to seduce her, thought Primrose irritably.

While her thoughts drifted away, unfortunately, the tip of the knife went wrong, cutting a few of her hands, and red blood quickly flowed out. Primrose only had an "A" in time, the person next to her quickly grabbed her bloody finger and put it in her mouth without hesitation.

The warmth from his mouth seemed to transfer heat from Primrose's hand to her cheek, and she was embarrassed to raise her head to look directly at him. In contrast, Joel very seriously used his mouth to help her stop the bleeding, gently rubbing Primrose's back as if to reassure her.

"Who taught you to stop bleeding like that? Don't you know how to use a bandage?"

Primrose sheepishly scolded him, her voice soft as if she were coaxing. After confirming that the blood on her hand had stopped flowing, Joel gently stroked her face teasingly.

"It's just a natural reflex of the body. Threaten me?"

Not threatening that novelty, Primrose answered in her mind and then nodded firmly.

After that, Joel skillfully washed the blood from Primrose's hands and bandaged them, decisively dragging Primrose to the living room to sit, while he continued to bake pizza for her.

"Sit here well, choose a movie to watch, and I'll get you a pizza later."

Primrose, who was going from busy to free, didn't know what to do and was only watching Joel's back in front of him. He is familiar with loosening ingredients and putting the cake in the oven, the movement is quick and beautiful. His face was no longer droopy as usual but extremely serious, making Primrose feel that he was no longer so obnoxious.

As expected, the man who is working hard is the most handsome.
