Chapter 85: Chapter 85
Dashtan arrived home and ran hurriedly into the house which was currently quite crowded due to the arrival of the police and medics. Without caring about his surroundings, he immediately entered and looked for the figure that was the heart of his heart. When he saw Rakia being treated by the medics on the sofa in the living room, he could only stand still with his eyes filled with tears. He slowly approached the sofa, distracted by the man’s arrival.
“Hi...,” Rakia greeted softly with a hoarse voice.
“Sorry, sir, she needs to be taken to the hospital immediately, the bullet is still inside and must be removed immediately to speed up healing.” The medic’s words were immediately nodded to by Dashtan. He lifted Rakia’s body and carried her to the ambulance and followed a few minutes later after finishing his business with the police who arrested the perpetrator. Dashtan with his murderous gaze looked at the perpetrator who was now flanked by two police officers with his hands cuffed behind his back. He removed the perpetrator’s mask and said, “You as well as Dalikah will rot in prison.” Dashtan turned to the two policemen flanking the perpetrator.
“I will send you all the evidence today.”
The two policemen nodded and left with the man they had arrested. After that he immediately followed Rakia to the hospital. While at the hospital Dashtan called Razak to send all the evidence to the Singapore police regarding what happened to Rakia and Mr. Reynaldi. After waiting for about two hours, he finally got good news from his wife’s surgery that went well. Rakia was immediately moved to the hospitalization room. Dashtan immediately followed his wife who was temporarily transferred to the hospitalization room. Dashtan sat on the side where Rakia was currently lying and took the woman’s hand who was still under the influence of postoperative anesthesia. However, not long after, the woman opened her eyes and immediately noticed Dashtan’s presence.
“Hi....”
Dashtan could not reply to the greeting that sounded painful to his ears and heart. Everything that happened to Rakia was because of him. Rakia was surprised to hear the man crying.
“Hi, it’s okay, Honey, I’m here.” Rakia tried to sound strong. Dashtan looked at the woman with puffy eyes. Rakia caressed her husband’s face with her other hand.
“You went through all this because of me.” Dashtan said after being completely free of sobs.
“Don’t blame anyone. I’m fine.” Rakia gave Dashtan an encouraging smile, but it only added to the man’s guilt.
“I’ll call a doctor.” Dashtan pressed the button above the headboard where Rakia was lying. Before long, a doctor arrived with a nurse. Dashtan gave the doctor room to examine Rakia.
“She has to rest for about a month. Considering she has wounds that still haven’t healed completely.”
Dashtan just nodded after hearing the doctor’s advice. After the doctor left, he just stared at Rakia from where he was currently standing. Rakia who was also staring at the man tried to catch the meaning of that gaze.
“Maybe we should get a divorce.” Dashtan’s words suddenly made Rakia open her eyes in surprise and then panic.
“What are you talking about? You want to leave me and this child? I don’t understand why you’re saying that.” Rakia looked at Dashtan with a frown on her forehead. Dashtan sighed then looked down for a moment and then sat back down.
“I caused-“
“Don’t use that as an excuse to divorce me, you owe me happiness and you have to pay for it,” Rakia said with a sharp gaze. They stared at each other for a few moments, then Dashtan smiled with emotion. He took Rakia’s hand and kissed it.
“You’re a stubborn woman. You should get a man who can keep you safe from all harm.”
“I can do that, but unfortunately you’re the first man I met after my heart was broken. I know our relationship will be full of risks but I always try to be prepared for all the possibilities. How is Dalilah? And who was that robber?” Rakia couldn’t contain her curiosity.
“Dalilah is now a fugitive. That man was your boss at DS,” Dashtan replied.
“Brand?” asked Rakia, half-believing and not. Dashtan nodded.
“I think he’s in cahoots with Dalilah, but we need more evidence.” Dashtan sighed loudly.
“I’ll finish everything, and then we’ll finish our business.” Dashtan’s words made Rakia frown.
“Our business?” she asked. Dashtan smiled a mysterious but seductive smile that only made Rakia even more curious and inquisitive. Someone entered and appeared in the doorway. Mr. Reynaldi, Doctor Pedro and Madame Adeline, the three of them smiled at the tragic-looking pair of humans.
“What happened?” Madame Adeline could not hide her curiosity.
“A personal matter, Mom. Rakia’s former boss at DS had a personal grudge with Rakia, and that grudge was used by someone to incite him and hurt Rakia.” As Dr. Dashtan explained, Madame Adeline gave her daughter a concerned look.
“You should be more careful, how is Dalilah, is she hurt?”
Dashtan sighed before answering.
“She wasn’t home when it happened.”
Mrs. Adeline breathed a sigh of relief, only Dashtan and Rakia knew about Dalilah’s involvement with this incident. However, the two of them would not reveal anything before the police actually arrested the snake woman.
“The police came to me a few days ago and told me about the accident. They said the real culprit hasn’t been caught yet.” Mr. Reynaldi spoke up.
“That’s right, Dad. The police say this attack, the accident and the bomb in Rakia’s car are the same culprit. The police are trying to gather evidence.”
Dashtan didn’t want to divulge anything about the evidence he had found, after all, all of this happened because of Dalilah and the woman’s problems were connected to him.
“I hope the police find the main suspect soon,” Doctor Pedro said. Dashtan’s cell phone rang, prompting the man to leave the room and take the call.
“Yes, Razak! What’s wrong?”
Dashtan sat on one of the benches in the hospital corridor.
“I’ve sent all the evidence to the police, but I can’t find any evidence of Dalilah’s connection to the attacker who was just arrested. I hope you have a lead on this one, it’s just a step away. If you can find strong evidence linking Dalilah to the attack that just happened in your house, it won’t be long before that woman is no longer out there.”
Dashtan let out a harsh sigh as his other hand clenched into a tight fist.
“Yes, well, I’ll find out something about Dalilah and the attacker, you keep looking for other evidence. I don’t want anyone involved with Dalilah to get away.”
After his conversation with Razak ended, Dashtan went back into the room and joined the parents. The three parents excused themselves after saying their farewells.
“What’s wrong? Is everything okay?” asked Rakia, who could read her husband’s anxiety.
“The evidence to tie Dalilah to the brand has not been found. I’m sure they must have conspired.” Dashtan expressed his anxiety. Rakia took a deep breath and said, “I have the evidence.”
Her words left Dashtan shocked and silent for a few moments.
“What proof?” asked Dashtan very curious.
“You just check my tablet that I keep in the nightstand drawer in our room. It has camera footage that you can use as evidence against Dalilah and Brand.”
Dashtan was again surprised.
“But... How did you get it?”
Rakia smiled and said, “Just check the tablet, you’ll be surprised at what I’ve done to Dalilah without anyone knowing.”
