Chapter 83: Chapter 83

On a bright and cloudy Monday morning, Dashtan tried to go to the office and finish some work that had been neglected. Whether he wanted to or not, whether he liked it or not, as the CEO of a multinational company, he had a lot of work to do. Dashtan looked at his appearance in the mirror which was not wearing a tie perfectly. He remembered the figure of Rakia who always put on his tie every morning. But right now the woman was still on the verge of life and death. He let out a rough breath and decided not to wear a tie that day. He removed it from his neck and threw it on the bed. He went to the wardrobe room to get a slim fit suit and put it on, after which he left his room.

He called his secretary to order breakfast.

“Sir, today there will be a visitor from the police who wants to see you.” The secretary told him when he had just arrived and sat down in his chair. He had forgotten about it because his mind had been in turmoil for the past few days.

“Yes, let me know when they arrive.” Dashtan rubbed his face as he returned to being alone in his office. For several hours, he managed to get lost in his work. Until the visitor from the police came to see him.

“Good afternoon, sir. The purpose of our visit is to inform you that the investigation of the accident case involving Mr. Reynaldi a few months ago will soon advance to the trial stage. The investigation files and evidence are complete in our hands. From the results of the investigation into the accident, it was proven to be a deliberate accident and the perpetrator has admitted it.” One of the police officers named Thomas presented his report.

“Is there any chance that I know the perpetrator?” Dashtan asked with definite curiosity.

“From the suspect’s confession, he was sent by someone but he was only acting as a third party, in which case we are still investigating. We also suspect that the person who ordered the suspect to commit the accident is the same person who blew up your wife’s car the other day.”

The information made Dashtan both surprised and angry. But he did not show his sudden change of emotions in front of the officers.

“If you have any information and evidence regarding your wife’s case, we would appreciate it.”

Dashtan nodded and smiled politely at the two law enforcement officers. After the two officers left, Dashtan reached for his cell phone but he seemed to be contemplating what to do with it. Thinking about the information he had gotten from the police, he assumed that Dalilah had ordered some people to do her dirty deeds. He quickly massaged the area between his forehead in frustration. He didn’t expect Dalilah to go this far. He let out a rough sigh after which he sank back into his work.

Dashtan was just about to head home when his cell phone rang. He answered without looking at the caller.

“Yes, Hello.” His voice sounded heavy and tired.

“Ash, this is Adeline, are you home from work?”

“I was just about to go home, Mom.”

“Okay, then go straight to the hospital Rakia is waiting for you.”

The mother-in-law’s words momentarily stopped the little tidying up Dashtan was doing at his desk.

“Rakia? She... awake?” Dashtan asked in a tone of reassurance.

“You’ll know if you come here soon. Mom’s closed first.”

The call was disconnected unilaterally leaving Dashtan still a little surprised. He quickly pocketed his cell phone and tidied up what he needed to do with the hope that was beginning to well up inside him. After that, he grabbed his coat that he had draped over the top of his desk chair and rushed to the hospital. He drove his car at an above-average speed. Upon arriving at the hospital, he rushed to the room where Rakia was being treated but he didn’t find her there, in fact the room was cleaned up and looked neat. Dashtan was confused and shocked as he looked around for someone suitable for him to ask about where his wife had gone. Finally, a nurse happened to have just come out of the room to Dashtan’s right.

“Nurse, excuse me,” Dashtan said as he approached the nurse. The female nurse was quite surprised by Dashtan’s figure who looked handsome and sexy in her eyes. Coupled with the slightly messy state of his clothes. His sleeves were rolled up to the elbows, two buttons of his shirt were open at the top.

“Where is the patient being treated in that room?” Dashtan pointed to the room that Rakia had originally occupied without turning his head in the direction he was pointing. The nurse was silent for a few seconds as she stared at Dashtan without blinking.

“Nurse?!” Dashtan asked once more to wake the nurse from her reverie.

“Oh, yes, the patient in that room,” the nurse said, blinking a few times.

“Yes, where is she?” Dashtan asked again with a puzzled look at the nurse.

“The patient in that room was transferred an hour ago to a ward on the third floor. Room 110.” The nurse replied. Out of curiosity the woman wanted to ask.

“Are you the patient’s family?”

Dashtan was just about to leave when the nurse asked.

“Yes, I am her husband.” Dashtan’s answer made the nurse just said O with not sound. Dashtan went with hurried steps to the room the nurse had mentioned. When he arrived at the door of room number 110, he just stood there catching his breath. His heart was pounding and he was trying to neutralize the burning positive feelings he was feeling at the moment. His hand hesitantly lifted and grasped the door handle and moved it to open the door.

He stepped inside with steady steps and once he was inside the spacious and cozy room, he looked up at the person he had been missing and worrying about for the past few days. She was sitting on the bed as Madame Adeline fed the woman an orange. Dashtan could not believe his eyes, he could only flinch for a split second before finally stepping over to where Rakia was half-lying at the moment with slow steps.

Rakia smiled weakly when the man was near her.

“Hi, you’re here,” Rakia said weakly, she wanted to extend her hand to the man but she was reluctant. She felt there was something unresolved between them. Dashtan sat slowly on the woman’s side of the bed and took her hand then brought it to his face and kissed it deeply. Then, the two women did not expect Dashtan to cry.

“Hey, it’s okay... I’m here.” Rakia tried to calm down the man who looked so fragile in her eyes right now. Madame Adeline excused herself to go to Mr. Reynaldi’s room.

“I’ll give you some privacy. I’m going to your father’s room.”

Rakia nodded and stared at her mother’s leaving. When they were alone, Dashtan was still sobbing.

“Hi... Big Guy, I’m here now don’t cry.” Rakia tried to move closer to Dashtan but her right shoulder was very sore. She winced for a moment and that made Dashtan startled and distracted from his sobbing.

“Habibti! What’s wrong? Are you in pain? Which one hurts? I’ll call a doctor.” Dashtan was about to move but Rakia stopped her.

“No, no, it’s just my shoulder. Come here and hug me,” Rakia pleaded with a longing look. Dashtan immediately complied with the woman’s request, gently and carefully he grabbed his wife’s body and hugged her, like he was holding a fragile and fragile item. They had the silence they needed. Rakia dug into her memories of her recent relationship with Dashtan and realized that she had yet to say her apologies to the man.

“I’m sorry.” Rakia said which made Dashtan smile among his sadness.

“Me too. I caused you to be in this situation.”

Rakia smiled and felt both relieved and confused because she felt that the problem between them was complicated but had been resolved by simply apologizing to each other.

“I love you,” Rakia said again and Dashtan broke their embrace and cupped Rakia’s face with both hands. He gazed at the woman’s face intently remembering every detail and leaving those beautiful green eyes last to linger on.

“I love you too,” he said as he gazed intently at Rakia’s green eyes. Then he moved on to the lips that were starting to look a little rosy again from the last time he saw them. Dashtan immediately kissed them and crushed them soulfully. Rakia was carried away by Dashtan’s kisses, which were always sweet and seductive. Sending signals of longing for her desire that had been dormant for who knows how long and away from her husband’s caresses.

“I love you, Rakia, you know how panicked I was when your heart stopped beating for a few minutes, I thought I’d lost you there.” Dashtan said after the kiss ended. It was like he found an oasis as his lips tasted her lips. It quenched the thirst he had been feeling and moistened the dry recesses of his soul.

“I can’t just walk away and leave you. I owe you an apology.” Rakia looked at Dashtan with a look of pure longing and love for the man. Dashtan smiled and then said, “And you owe me children.”

At that Rakia chuckled. They kissed again for a while releasing their longing, until they both wanted to stop.

“If only you weren’t so badly injured, I’d do it right here.” Dashtan’s words made Rakia smile almost laughing.

“How’s Dalilah?” Rakia instantly turned Dashtan’s face into a cynical one.

“I will divorce her immediately.” Dashtan said that with certainty. Rakia was both surprised and confused. She didn’t know what had happened while she was in a coma, and she didn’t even fully remember what had happened to her until she became like this.

“What did I miss?” asked Rakia curiously. Dashtan moved his face away from Rakia.

“Not much, I’ll explain later. You have to rest a lot to recover and go home. I don’t like sleeping alone, especially now that there will be him.” Dashtan said his last sentence as he looked at Rakia’s flat stomach. Rakia smiled with a heart that was slowly infiltrated with warmth.
