Chapter 79: Chapter 79
Dashtan was seen talking to a man when Rakia had just come out of the cafeteria area. Liam caught up with her and stood behind her while looking at Dashtan as well.
“Who do you think he’s looking for?” Liam asked, surprising Rakia. Liam smiled at Rakia’s surprised reaction to not realizing his existence.
“You think?” Rakia threw a question at the question. She wasn’t sure how to answer. As the man Dashtan was talking to excused himself, the man turned to the two of them. Dashtan waved with a smile and hurried towards them. Rakia wasn’t sure whether to return Dashtan’s greeting, she turned to Liam who returned her husband’s small wave.
“We need to talk,” Dashtan said, leaving the two confused.
“You mean Rakia?” asked Liam.
“No, but you,” Dashtan replied which made Liam nod. Rakia let out a long sigh and quickly walked away because she felt that she was not considered. Dashtan didn’t even look at her.
“Kia...,” Liam called out which made Rakia stop and look back.
“Rest if you’re not feeling well.” Liam’s words made Rakia frown for a moment looking at the man but she caught a faint smile as a code from the man. She immediately nodded and played her role well.
“Thank you for your time,” said Rakia who deliberately said it in a rather loud voice so that Dashtan would hear her. Rakia gave one of her thumbs up to Liam and the man laughed, Dashtan immediately turned to Rakia but the woman had already turned around again and left.
“You guys usually spend time together?” Dashtan asked Liam when they were alone. Liam looked at Dashtan with both foreheads raised.
“We’re coworkers, so it’s only natural that we spend a lot of time together.” Liam deliberately answered that to gauge Dashtan. The man frowned with a displeased look on his face.
“You guys have a personal relationship, is that it?” Dashtan gave Liam a probing look. Liam shoved both hands into the pockets of his material pants and lowered his head as he stared at his best friend.
“What exactly do you want to know. If you care about Rakia, you shouldn’t have let your problems drag on.” Liam threw his attack. Dashtan sighed and grasped the meaning of the man’s words.
“I need time to solve our problem.” Dashtan answered honestly, he stared at the floor half contemplating.
“How long? Until Rakia gets bored and leaves?”
Dashtan was silent. Liam sighed and looked at the man with a sympathetic gaze.
“Let’s go to my office, you can talk all you want there, just don’t break my stuff.”
Dashtah smiled almost laughing at Liam’s ultimatum. Meanwhile, on the other side of the Daily Singapore building in Rakia’s office, the woman was brooding. The discomfort she felt because her husband was angry with her was affecting her work ethic. As a result, she didn’t hear the knock on her door until someone who had been knocking opened the door to her office because they didn’t get an answer. A woman wearing minus glasses with circular lenses looked at her in confusion.
“Are you okay?” The question managed to jolt Rakia so deeply that she was forcibly pulled into reality.
“Alisa? What are you doing-“
“I’ve been knocking on the door but there’s no answer, my knuckles are already red from knocking. Are you okay?” The girl named Alisa repeated her question after explaining her alibi as to why she looked like an impolite person for opening the door to the superior’s office. Rakia sighed while closing her eyes, she nodded then told the girl to come in.
“There are several programs that you must monitor before they are broadcast. Including the Daily Planet program that took its first filming location in Petra.”
Rakia sighed as Alisa reminded her of that. She had a busy schedule with different locations, even different countries and continents, because some of the programs she approved to be aired were informative programs that contained specific information about a region. He adapted one of the programs of a television station that is famous for its shows that only contain information about animals and nature.
“I have the schedule here, how about a talk program with a character? Have you thought about it?”
Rakia read all the documents that Alisa had brought.
“I will approve that as well in the near future. You can immediately make a selection for a suitable person to host the show.”
After saying that, Alisa nodded and then excused herself. All the personal problems that plagued her made her lose her work ethic. Rakia tried to get back to work by checking all the documents that she had not completed. She had to review several DS television programs before they were actually aired. Not to mention the employee training that will be held in the next two weeks. Long she was immersed in her work until the time flew by. It was getting dark and Rakia had just finished checking and approving several television programs that would air later.
She massaged her dizzy head while closing her eyes. The door of her office was knocked again by someone she could only give orders to that person without seeing him. His vision seemed to be spinning. Liam walked in and looked at Rakia who didn’t look okay.
“I thought you were home.”
Rakia raised her gaze when she heard Liam’s voice. Rakia smiled with a tired face.
“In a while, are you going home yourself?” Rakia then cleared her desk and put some things into her bag.
“Um, I have an appointment with Dashtan at the bar.”
Rakia frowned.
“Bar? You guys are going to drink?” She sounded disapproving of her own assumption.
“It’s just me, most of the time Dash will only drink cola.” Liam draped the slim fit suit he was wearing over one shoulder.
“You sure he won’t get drunk?” Rakia still couldn’t believe it. Even though she had never seen Dashtan drink alcohol during her marriage to that man.
“You can trust us.”
Rakia and Liam walked out of the DS building together to the front parking lot. However, Liam stopped for a moment to chat with one of the staff who was the administration manager. Rakia went first to her car, which was parked alone. She took out her car keys and pressed the key sensor to unlock her car. However, just as she was about to open her car door wider, her car suddenly exploded and sent her throwing far away. Rakia’s body landed on the ground hard, some of the car’s glass shards stuck in several parts of her body, but a large one stuck in her right shoulder.
Liam and the other staff who heard the loud explosion immediately ran towards the direction of the explosion. With his eyes widened in shock, Liam immediately approached Rakia’s body who was already lying on the floor with her shoulder bleeding from the large shards of glass.
“Quick! Call for help!” Liam ordered the people around him. He immediately took out his cell phone and contacted Dashtan.
“Hello, Dash?! Where are you? Hurry to DS it’s an emergency!” Liam sounded half shouting in panic.
“Hurry up, Rakia is in danger.” After saying that he immediately hung up the call without caring about Dashtan who still wanted to talk. He stared at Rakia’s burning car with huge flames.
