Chapter 586: Once Doormat Now Untouchable

----

Chapter 586

Clearly, the two of them were not speaking about the same

thing. Even so, Florence felt a small measure of comfort.

At the same time, the ache in her heart deepened. She had never

wanted to raise her daughter to be this understanding, this

gentle to a fault. She would have preferred a willful little girl

When Florence thought of how many hardships Sydney must

have endured to become this way, her heart tightened as if

seized by an invisible hand. No words came.

She could only hold Sydney a little closer. She could not imagine

how she was meant to make up for the past or how she could

ever atone for her failures as a mother.

Sydney clearly felt Florence crying harder. There were no sobs,

but the dampness spreading across her shoulder told the story

For no clear reason, an unspoken sadness rose in Sydney's own

chest.

When Julian came downstairs, this was the scene that greeted

him. These two really were something.

He walked over helplessly, patted Sydney on the head, and said, "

Dinner is ready. Come eat with Madam Hutton."

Only then did Florence notice him. She quickly wiped away her

----

tears and regained her usual composed elegance. "Julian, are

you finished with your work?"

When she arrived earlier, Julian had still been in the study, and

she had not allowed the housekeeper to disturb him.

Julian smiled and nodded. "Yes. Tonight's dishes are all

seasonal. Please see if they suit your taste."

He then moved behind Florence and personally began pushing

her wheelchair.

The sight surprised Sydney. This tycoon rarely took the initiative

to care for anyone, except her.

Florence was also momentarily taken aback. She could not quite

place what felt off.

In the past, because Raymond and Julian were close, the two

families interacted often. Yet every time they met, Julian spoke

little. He was always polite but reserved. No extra words, no

extra effort, and certainly nothing like pushing her wheelchair

himself. Even Raymond, that jerk, was rarely this considerate.

Even so, the meal felt unusually warm and harmonious. Both

Agatha and Florence took exceptional care of Sydney, while

Julian frequently served food to Florence.

Sydney was not sure if it was her imagination, but she seemed

to glimpse something rare on Julian's face: attentiveness.

----

Halfway through the meal, Agatha mentioned Sydney's

abdominal pain, and Florence immediately grew anxious. "Why

didn't you tell me? How do you feel now? Pregnancy takes a toll

on the body. If anything feels wrong, you must not endure it."

The Huttons lacked nothing. They had money, connections, and

the best medical resources. Everything was in place to ensure

Sydney could give birth as comfortably as possible.

Sydney smiled helplessly. "Don't worry. It's already much better."

It had been nothing more than emotional turbulence over the

past few days, combined with poor rest. After sleeping through

the afternoon, she felt significantly better.

Florence still looked uneasy and turned to Julian. “Really?”

“Really,” Julian replied with a nod.

He did not fully trust Sydney's own judgment. She always put

others first and never took her health seriously.

However, he trusted Alan's judgment. If it had been serious, Alan

would not have simply sent her home to rest.

Only then did Florence finally relax.

After dinner, she did not stay long. After reminding Sydney to

return to her room and rest, she left directly.

----

Sydney had slept through most of the afternoon and still felt

energetic. She followed Julian into the study and asked

suspiciously, "Why were you so attentive to Florence today?"

Yes, attentive, as if he feared neglecting her in the slightest.

Julian knew how perceptive she was and felt no surprise. He

lifted her onto his lap. "I'll tell you tomorrow."

Tomorrow, the Huttons would need to give a clear answer.

Meanwhile, over at Seraph Villa

Raymond was already beside himself with anger. If he had

known his mother was going to Delta Mansion, he would have

gone too.

Why had no one brought him along? He also wanted to have

dinner with his sister.

Before he could question her, Florence spoke first. "Sydney

wasn't feeling well. You came back from the hospital and didn't

say a word about it?"

Diana's expression tightened. "Sydney was unwell?"

Florence took a blanket from the housekeeper and draped it

over her legs. "Yes, though she's feeling better now.”

----

Once the test results came back, they would still need to bring

the girl over and take proper care of her.

Raymond stared, dumbfounded. 'What was wrong with her? She

didn't say anything to me.”

James frowned with open disdain. "Then what was the point of

sending you to see Sydney? You might as well not have gone at

all."
