Chapter 47: Chapter 47

Arielle sat in her room, talking to the cops through her Ipad as they updated her about the case of Jenny and what they had turned up so far. It was the first time they were telling her something positive In five years and she could help her face-splitting grin.

"That's freaking epic, I gotta say I wasn't expecting such good news from you, I'm glad you didn't let all the money I paid you to go to waste. I hope in a few weeks we'll finally have her behind bars".

"You don't have to worry Miss Arielle, we're going to make sure you're satisfied with the result of this case. Jenny might have changed her face and her last name, but she's in the country and we'll have her in no time".

"I'm glad to hear that. As I said, I'm just happy to know all those millions I spent didn't go to waste. Well thank you for the update".

"It's no problem, I'll be calling at the same time next week".

"Of course," she said and ended the call, a smile of satisfaction on her lips. Jenny was going to get what she deserved, a slow and tortured death, and she was going to make sure of it, even if it killed her.

What Jenny had done to her was unforgivable and she couldn't stop until she got her own back. Her father had been furious that she'd allowed herself to be so vulnerable to a direct attack from an enemy, and a worthless one at that. She was supposed to be the leader, the only one allowed to hurt others, and not the other way around.

It had already been a blow to her self-esteem that she'd lost Zach to Vega-although that pain was soothed since Zach went away from both their lives and she got to witness a devastated Vega try to navigate her life back on track-, then Jenny had drugged her repeatedly while she was none the wiser. It was a total disgrace hence why she had to find Jenny and make her pay even though it was costing her an arm and a leg. Her father would be proud of her when she told him that she finally got her revenge, anything other than that, and he'd still see her as weak and pathetic. How could she take over if this was the case?

The door banged open and she jerked as one of the guards walked into her room.

"Oh my gosh, can you fucking knock before you just barge into my room".

The man bowed. "I'm sorry, but your father is in the study and he wants to speak to you. It's urgent."

Arielle got up from the couch with a glare aimed at him. "The next time this repeats itself, I'll have father fire you, get it" she stated, and didn't wait for his reply as she strolled past him. Her Father hated to be kept waiting, and she didn't want to incur his wrath so soon after she'd spent years smoothing out the strain her carelessness had put on their relationship.

His study smelt like newly printed books and as Arielle stepped in, she couldn't help but gaze at all the books that graced each shelf. The shelves were all stacked to the top, and they created a beautiful pattern in the brightly lit room.

Her father cleared his throat and she stepped towards him.

"Dante called me" he stated and she knew that it was serious because the Dantes and they had always done business together, some aspects of it legal, but mostly the rest were illegal. They exported drugs in different varieties and she'd only found out about it recently. She'd confronted her father about it and with all the evidence she had collected, he didn't have a choice but to come clean.

"Is there a problem".

"Ray Carlo Rossi called him asking for the deeds to the land, he threatened to hurt his family this time".

Fuck, it was that Ray guy again. She thought that they had, had him killed already. She remembered sending some people after him, but Dante's men had beaten hers to it and it was a surprise that they did such a sloppy Job.

"I'm sure Dante can handle his business," she said and knew it was the wrong thing to say as her father groaned.

"That land was once the Ray Rossi's family inheritance Arielle. They took a loan from Dante and that land was the collateral. They couldn't pay back the loan. I'm sure you can work out the rest of the story. Ray wants his hand on that property because he knows how valuable it is and I can't allow that. I co-own that land with Dante and I'm never going to give it up. That's where all our drugs are grown and processed, if Ray gets his hands on that land, then we are going to run out of money" he explained, his voice sharp and ferocious. "That can never happen," he said then pushed some pictures toward her.

Arielle looked through, then paused her eyes widening as a familiar picture caught her gaze. She wondered where she'd seen the face of the woman in the picture before. Had they met without her knowing?

Her father's voice cut through her thought. "Those are all the people he's been meeting with. I'm sure he's plotting something, and we have to put a stop to it" he said and Arielle dragged her eyes from the picture.

"What is the plan then?".

"He'll be at the inauguration ceremony tonight, so you'll have to go there, keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't do anything to jeopardize our business".

"I will father, you can count on me".

"And stay off the drugs. If you mess this up, it will be over for us. That's the only asset we have at this moment, if we lose it, we lose everything".

"I'll handle it father, you don't have to worry about it" she assured and he nodded grimly.

"Leave, and make sure you're at that party in an hour" he ordered. Arielle nodded, then rushed back to her room. She picked up her iPad and the picture of Jenny with her new face was the first thing she saw as she turned it on. Everything suddenly clicked into place, and she couldn't be bothered with whatever it was Jenny was plotting with Ray as a smile curved her lips.

"I've fucking got you now Jenny, and this time you're not going to slip away from my clutch," she said, taking her phone and dialing the number of the cop on the case. It was finally her time to collect on old debts.
