Chapter 29: Chapter 29
Arielle felt like dying as she read the news, of course, the stupid paparazzi were already spreading rumors that Zach was getting serious with a certain girl in school, "is this the start of a budding romance" was what they titled it as. Arielle flung the paper across the wall.
"Fucking monsters! They should just be plain about the girl they're referring to. Being vague is such a cheap move. I wonder who the amateur who printed this was because they shouldn't be reporters, they should be picking dirt's by the street" she fumed then walked to the drink cabinet, her eyes raking over the various assortment of drinks but none caught her fancy.
"I can't believe I'm going to lose to that stupid Vega after everything I did to win, after all the money I wasted. But how could Zach just forget about me, didn't we have something going on, didn't Noah say he talked about me until his ear fell off" she groaned, her eyes flicking close. "This is the most horrible thing to ever happen to me. How can I show my face after this".
Her eyes flew open as she heard Jenny's footsteps echoes as she climbed up the stairs.
A few seconds later, she stepped into Arielle's room holding a tray filled with different dishes.
"What fucking took you so long" Arielle snapped making Jenny flinch at the sharp tone that had been directed at her, her gaze slipping to the floor like something interesting was moving around her feet. Her voice was scared and quiet when she spoke.
"I'm sorry Arielle. I just wanted to make everything perfect for you and... "
"Enough!" Arielle cut in, in irritation, then eyed her. "The way you grovel is pathetic," she said and sat down while Jenny proceeded to serve her.
Arielle reluctantly picked up the spoon, scooped up the soup, and watched Jenny who stared at her eagerly as she swallowed the content. Arielle grimaced, then flung the spoon at the wall making Jenny cower in shock.
"This soup tastes like crap" she got out and Jenny stared at it as if she was seeing the bowl of soup for the first time. "If you really want my forgiveness for your betrayal then you should at least learn how to do things right for godsakes" she yelled out. Jenny nodded quickly, rushing to pick up the spoon, and then rushed to Arielle, before dropping to her knees.
"I'm so sorry Arielle. I'll do better, I promise".
Arielle smirked, enjoying the sight of someone kneeling before her. "You better, because I didn't have to take you back after the stunt you pulled with Nicole. She's so stupid you know, she never stood a chance against me but I guess she thought she actually had hoped to become a princess. Imagine her becoming Zach's Dante girlfriend, my brain's coming up blank because I can't even picture it".
Jenny nodded frantically. "That's true, the very idea feels like a crime. I don't know what Nicole was thinking myself but I think you should deal with her, you've let her get away with disrespecting you and that's why she thinks she's up to your level".
Arielle mulled it over. "You're right. I should do that. And that Vega too, I'm going to fucking destroy her especially for hiring that thug to threaten me".
Jenny's eyes widened. "What did he say to you, I know he whispered in your ears but I didn't know it was a threat".
Arielle eyed her, her hackles rising in suspicion. "Of course, you'd love to know, but what I would like to know is why are you fishing for Information?" She asked, arching an eyebrow before narrowing her eyes as Jenny fidgeted.
"I'm not fishing for anything. I just don't want that thug to come after me."
Arielle scoffed. "He won't come after you so don't worry about it... it's not like you're someone important anyways. As for his threats, that's my business and you should leave now, I'm tired of looking at your pathetic face" she got out tiredly with a dismissive wave.
Jenny inhaled deeply as she got up from the floor. "If you need me to do anything, just ask Arielle. I'll do it for you".
"I know you will Jenny, you don't have a choice in the matter, so stop with the stupid reassurance. I hate it".
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you".
"Well you did, now get out, and keep an eye on that Nicole, I want to know everything she is up to".
Jenny nodded once and made to go but Arielle stopped her.
"Take this with you," she said, pointing at the dishes with her chin. "All that you've been preparing tastes like they'd been doused in some nasty medicine. Don't you know how to prepare a meal at all?"
"I promise to do better" Jenny quickly muttered as she picked up the tray and then rushed out of the room.
Arielle exhaled, thinking back to the word the bastard had whispered into her ears. She didn't know how but it seemed he knew what her father was involved in, the kind of business they ran, and how much she was involved in it.
"Do I tell Dad about him or take care of him myself? How does Vega even know someone like that anyways" she questioned, her brows furrowing together. "Or is she secretly into some shady business?". Arielle shook her head because it was just absurd to even think about it, then she ran her hand through her hair and gasped as she felt some tendrils coming off. She stared in horror at the strand of hair when the door flung open and Jenny rushed in.
"Jesus. Can you just act like a human being for once. You scared the crap out of me.".
"I'm so sorry Arielle but you really need to go online right now," she said shoving her phone into Arielle's face. "I think Vega is about to win the bet".
Arielle snatched the phone out of her grip and scanned the content on the news furiously before flinging the phone against the wall, her chest heaving like a demon-possessed.
"No! I'm never going to let it happen. Come with me right now" she ordered as she grabbed her purse.
"We're not going to make it in time".
"We will, so you better drive like a maniac once we get out of this house," she said, trudging down the stairs... Jenny followed closely behind and they were both soon in the car, Jenny behind the wheel.
"If I don't get there in time, you're done for. Got it".
Jenny nodded quickly, turned on the car, reversed, and sped out of the garage into the road.
Arielle watched as they flew past the other cars on the road.
"Even if you win Vega, I'll make sure you both don't stay together more than a day" she promised, meaning every word of it.
