Chapter 18: Chapter 18

Andrianna POV.

Markus restaurant was great and I think I might revisit soon if my parents didn't deem it unsafe for their precious little daughter to go to.

They were so overprotective that sometimes it was smothering, but I guess it came with the territory, it was a miracle that they were even letting me hang out with Vega, but they'd investigated her to a T before they told me I could hang out with her and I had to admit, she was the longest friend I'd ever had hence why I was overprotective of her but sometimes I think I come off too nasty, but I was used to saying whatever I wanted without mincing word.

I'd also been lying to her about what work my parents were truly involved in but if I had told her that my parents were mafia, well I don't see us being friends ever again, and I'd also endangered her life, which was something that made my stomach churn whenever I thought about it.

Vega was the sweetest person I knew and she was also the most oblivious. I try my best to stop her when she flirts with Markus because I don't think she realizes she even does that, or the fact that Markus was kind of into her because he wasn't gay, but Bi and Jake knew that, but he was also enamored by Vega that he chose to look the other way which I was certain would lead to some major heartbreak in the future and I didn't want that to happen to my best friends so I try my best to keep the balance hence why I'd been so ruthless in my attempt to get Vega to join in on the bet, plus I knew Vega was totally into the new guy even if she pretended to hate him. Wasn't there that saying which goes, there's a thin line between love and hate.

Stepping into my mansion that felt more like prison drained me more than it did some weeks back, I guess I'm getting more exhausted as the day rolls by.

Once I stepped into my room, I'm not surprised to see Ray waiting for me and I die a little more inside. Ray was the one my parents chose for me and at first, knowing how everything worked in my family, I'd chosen to go with it, even introduced him to Vega, that was until I found out what a cheating egoistic bastard he was. I've tried to break us up but he just seemed deaf to whatever I had to say.

"Babe, I've been waiting all day for you." He said and when I ignored him, he sighed, stood up, and continued. "Do I need to increase your security, because I don't think it's safe for you to always be up and about even tho you know your family has rivals who wouldn't hesitate to cut your pretty head off ".

I scoffed and turned to face him. "Don't worry your pretty little head Ray, my safety isn't for you to worry about, you know why?" I asked with a sweet smile. "Because we're not together, and we won't ever be together".

He frowned, then shrugged my words off. "Your parents will never let us split us so just quit being stubborn and we'll go ahead with the wedding".

"As if I'd ever get married to a cheating bastard like you" I snapped and he slammed his hand on the table but I don't flinch like he expect me to. Seriously, did he think I hadn't been exposed to the worst of it all?

"Why are you being so difficult huh. It was just that one time and I already apologized, which is something I never do".

"You must be so proud of yourself" I sneered and he took a step in my direction, dark intention written all over his face but before he even gets within close distance, I'm already aiming a gun with a silencer at him. I kept a gun, in case of emergencies, and him in my room was an emergency in its own right.

Ray chuckled, but at least he'd stopped. "Do you even know how to use that toy pretty face"?

I smirked. "Will you like to find out, ugly face"?

The rage that clouded over his face was funny, but then he was smiling again as he placed his hand over his chest.

"You wound me, Doll, but I just can't help myself, it's this part of you that makes me want you more".

"Well, keep on wanting but you'll never have me, and next time, please don't enter my room or my house without my permission, or else I might really get trigger happy and mistakingly kill you, but we both know it won't be a mistake" I threatened.

He stared at me, and I stare back because there was no way I was going to let him see an ounce of fear in me. Father had once drone it Into my head that an opponent, a rival, a bully, or whatever they came as would stare at you to intimidate, my job was not to get intimidated, and to achieve that, you have to hold their stare until they felt intimidated.

Ray was the first to break eye contact, and then a look I'm all too familiar with replaces his former one. His hands shoot out to try to grab my gun but I'd anticipated, and being light on my feet, I'm out of his way before he can blink. He stumbled forward and once he regained his composure, the nuzzle of my gun was digging into his skull.

"You won't be this lucky next time you try anything stupid" I warned darkly and he laughed.

"Wow, that was a sexy move if I'd ever seen one. Fine you win, I'll ask for your permission if I want to come into your house, but don't bother asking your parents to cut off our engagement, you'll just be wasting your time. This is a family affair and nothing you say or do is going to change that".

"Oh yeah, let me be the fucking judge of that." I gritted out, shoving the gun deeper into his skull, a silent order for him to move and he does, even tho I knew it was Killing him to be so obedient.

Once he's outside, I relax my hold on the gun.

He turned to face him as he adjusted his jacket.

"Your parents will be disappointed when they hear about the way you treated your fiance today".

I pouted. "Awww, did I hurt your little feelings" I teased, then got serious. "I don't care Ray. Goodbye," I said turning to go inside.

"Your friend Vega," he said and I paused in my steps. "You should keep an eye on her, since you seem to care about her so much. I don't want her to get into trouble".

I took a deep breath, my heart smacking against my chest at his indirect threat. "Touch her, and you'll have my gun to deal with".
