Chapter 12: Chapter 12

VEGA POV.

Is this how it feels when you gloat in the face of an enemy. If it is, then damn I feel good. It's almost like a high at this point. Andria watched me with amusement on her face, while Jake proceeded to be all lovey-dovey with Markus, AKA the hot_I wish he was my boyfriend instead. Kidding!. If he's cool with it then that'll be icing on the cake. I'm still kidding.

My lips stretched in an eerie smile, as Andria relayed what happened for the thousandth time and I loved how she managed to make the whole encounter more hilarious than it was.

"Did you see the look on her face... It was and is my favorite thing in the world now. She tripped on her own feet, how stupid" I said, recalling my favorite part of the whole drama. Andria bobbed her head In enthusiastically.

"You can't forget about it if you tried hard enough. It was so hilarious. I'm so proud of myself". She said, batting her lashes, and choosing to ignore her ice cream that was melting. Ugh, she wasted everything. Jake finally chipped in since Andria was busy tugging at his shirt.

"Yes, Vega. You looked really bad ass. Total gorgeousness".

He complimented and I smiled as I grabbed hold of his hand, grinning my thanks before he went all evil and took it back.

"Thank you, Jake. I love you so much" I said peppering kisses over his knuckles, he rolled his eyes, then grimaced, before yanking them away from my evil clutches.

"You never miss any opportunity to do that do you..." he accused, his voice chiding so I knew that he was not angry.

I shrugged, then leaned towards him. "If it's not you, then who can actually bear my excesses". I added a pout, just to sell the act.

"That's why I'm your bestie, you goofball." He smacked my forehead, earning a chuckle from Markus. Embarrassing.

"Better be happy she finally agreed to a makeover. I've been trying my luck for years, with no success. Zach's bet was my one-way chance". Andria muttered all sullen.

"Girl, you need to let it go"

I don't know why my eyes decided to stray from my group at the mention of his name, but I saw him once I looked up. Our eyes connected and I swore my heart shot right into my stomach. It was a horrible feeling. Ok, I'm mad again. He was so irritating ugh. I turned to face my crew, a sour look on my face.

"Talk of the devil and he shall appear". I muttered, subtly pointing my chin in his direction. Andria's head whipped in his direction, making me cringe in my seat. If I had wanted her to look at him like that, I'd have freaking pointed him out. Andria officially has no subtle bone in her body.

"He's coming here. Oh my gosh," Andria whisper yelled and I panicked. Don't look. Don't fucking look in his direction, think about flying jets or any freaking thing you know of, I told myself. I shouldn't have bothered with all that because I lost the battle, my head whipping in his direction as he approached our table.

The guy beside him caught my attention. He looked creepily familiar. His gaze roamed over our table as if he was looking for someone. His eyes were suddenly fixated on me, a beautiful smile tugging at his lips. It was weird, but I couldn't help but smile back. Who the fuck is he?. They reach us, and Zach's hand came to rest on my desk. Damn! Even his arms and long fingers were a work of art. The veins on his arms looked so good that It made my fingers itch to trail over them, and then my brain decided to get more slutty because I'm now thinking about how it would feel like if he holds me down, or pin me to a wall. I gasped in my head, horrified at the direction of my thoughts. Snap the fuck out of it Vega. You hate this god-awful jock. Stop thinking that way.

"Hi, Vega". I looked around, then back at him. Is this happening? Did he just say hi to me in that smooth deep voice of his that definitely left a trail of shiver on my skin, because I'm pretty sure I'm imagining things? He raised his thick brows expectantly. Why do I keep noticing every little thing about the douchebag?

"I'm sorry, but this isn't happening right. You coming over to say hi is weird, and in the light of that, I'm just going to tell you up front so there's no misunderstanding" I paused for effect, pushing my loose hair behind my ear slowly. "I'm not interested in you".

"What!" Their chorus of surprise almost made me jump in my seat. Andria was watching me as if I'd finally lost it. Jake facepalm as if in pain, while Zach stared at me, looking amused. Those ugly dimples he had made me want to smash his cheek.

"Wait, what are you talking about. What do you mean by you're not interested". He asked and I shot a look in Andria's direction but she just smacked her finger over her face. Um, what's so freaking funny. Wasn't he here to ask me out.

"I wasn't going to ask you out Vega. I don't date nerds". He said, answering my unspoken question with a smirk.

I fought my facial expression. You know when people say words cut like a knife, I think I know what they were talking about now. I'll probably be spitting out blood from how deep he'd cut me right about now if that saying was real. How do I crawl under a rock and die? Someone tell me. Tell me because this is the most horrible assumption I'd ever made and that too in front of my arch enemy. Enough! Don't let him have the last fucking laugh. I folded my arms, before forcing a playful smile.

"I didn't ask if you dated nerds. Plus I was just blurting stuff out. I won't date you even if you asked me. You're not my type".

"Really?" He questioned, folding his arms, mirroring me, a playful smirk on his lips. He was going to taunt me in earnest now. Andria focused on her melted ice cream like they were the most fascinating thing on earth.

"What's the makeover for then?" He asked, making my brain fry.

They're for you to notice me you dumbass. But that will make his head that's already so huge, explode. I always do stupid things when I'm pushed to the edge and that's exactly what I do. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

"They're for my boyfriend, Markus" I blurted and Markus choked on his ice cream, his eyes snapping to mine. Jake's mouth hung open, his spoon clanging on the floor.

Please don't say I'm out of my mind. Play the fuck along Markie. I pleaded internally, holding his stunned gaze. I took his hands across the table, my puppy eyes on display. Markus's gaze left mine and he looked at Zach with a dazzling I'm cuter than you smile.

"Yes. We are together, so I'd like it if you stop bothering her". He rumbled out. Wow, I didn't know his voice was that deep, oh my goddess. I mean if we could take this to the next level... I'm kidding. Kidding.

I loved the silence that hung thick in the air. Zach was quiet. I knew he was a hundred percent sure the makeover had been for him, he was right, but I'm smart AF and he definitely didn't need to know that.

"You have a boyfriend," the guy with him asked, drawing our attention. He sounded almost disappointed. We looked at him quizzically and he smiled nervously.

"I'm Noah Dante. Zach's little brother" he introduced with a wave of the hand. What with all the drama he'd witnessed just now. Andria smiled brightly at him. Yup, her teeth were a blinding white.

"You're a Dante. I didn't know Zach had a younger brother".

"Well I'm more laid back than he is, and I'm homeschooled, so I don't get to socialize much. I'm a novelist". His gaze was on me the whole time, so I felt I had to pretend to be interested or something.

"I'm Vega. Nice to meet you too. What genre do you right".

"Thrillers. I love reading them, so I decided to write one too. Your name is unique. I knew only a girl who bore that name in grade school. Vega Romeo. She won all the school awards, was a total nerd". I stood up from my seat because he was literally talking about me. What the hell!. Was he who I thought he was. I'm not good with faces but it felt like I knew those eyes, those waves of hair, but his body was not quite right.

"Are you... where you by any chance called Noah Antonio Sergio in grade school", I got out and he looked surprised.

"Yeah, Dante was a giveaway, but Sergio was more subtle. Wait..." He got out, watching me almost in awe. "Vega... It's you right. You've got to be kidding." The others watched both of us awkwardly. I wanted to squeal. No fucking way. This was Noah. My best buddy in grade school. WTF!.

"Yeah...it's... mmmp"...I grunt at his crushing hug. Well, this was getting interesting. I caught the eyes of Zach and he doesn't look too happy. I wonder what's got him in a twist. I hugged Noah tighter, cause I'm the hype kind of girl, and I'm realizing how much I'd missed him, plus he had a warm huggable body. Sue me.
