Chapter 35: Chapter 35
Sophia winced as she tried to open her eyes. The sun streaking through the room made it all the more difficult, her hands automatically reached out, searching for the warmth she'd seemed to feel all night. The cold space beside her had her sitting up, her eyes becoming clearer. Sophia took in the surrounding, her face scrunching up when her brain finally worked right and she knew she was in her room. Everything felt odd, she couldn't remember what happened after the kiss. Sophia trailed a finger over her lips, as she remembered the kiss, the desperation, the passion, the greediness of it and she felt her cheeks hitting up.
The door opened, startling her so much that she half jumped out of the bed, her heart clenching in panic.
Bianca smiled, even as Sophia glared at her.
"You just gave me a mini heart attack" she grumbled, her nose wrinkling as the aroma of something delicious wafted to it.
"Should have had a real heart attack, cause that's what I experienced when Lennox called me in the freaking middle of the night to come to take care of your ass. Apparently, you had too much to drink and blacked out".
Sophia blushed, a faraway look in her eyes. "Yup, I drank a lot... A lot of those lips" she murmured, shaking her head happily, then finally realized that she wasn't in the room alone. Sophia sat straighter, staring at Bianca from the corner of her eyes before clearing her throat. "The party turned out horrible.. " she stated, then leaned towards Bianca who dropped the bowl she was holding on the table. "Did Lennox say anything"...
Bianca turned to face her. "Yeah he did," she said and gave a dramatic pause that had Sophia almost dying out of anticipation. "He said to change your clothes, cause you were soaking wet. You two were caught up in the rain and were kissing right" she said, crossing her arms as Sophia's eyes widened.
"You know? I mean the kissing part"
Bianca threw her hands in the air. "Of course, I know, do you think I'm so freaking blind. We're you seriously going to keep this away from me"
"No... No, I mean... I was going... Going to... "
"Shut up, you weren't" she cut in, then jumped on the bed, grabbing her by the arms, looking all serious and scaring Sophia. "How was it like?"
Sophia frowned. "How was what like?".
"The fucking kiss Sophia, what else do you think I'd be asking about. Tell me, cause I'm about to faint from curiosity right now" she got out all agitated.
Sophia smiled, closing her eyes dreamily. "It was perfect, so Passionate, so warm, his hands felt like electric sparks dancing across my skin, and it was so intense," she said, then opened her eyes, a frown taking over the dreamy look. "I think I got memory loss from it cause I can't remember a damn thing that happened after the kiss".
Bianca shook her head, making a sound with her tongue. "You fainted, that's what happened. Way to screw up a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" she said, letting off her. "You got to kiss the boss, and you fainted, ugh".
"You're taking this too personally. Wait, Lennox kissed me. He kissed me" she said her eyes widening, as her heart rate skyrocketed. "He kissed me, Bianca, that means he's in love with me right, cause you don't just kiss people you don't have feelings for right". She asked, looking at Bianca for confirmation.
"First off, you need to calm down before you faint again, take a deep calming breath"
Sophia did as she was told, then started squealing again. "Oh my gosh Bianca, he has feelings for me, and you're right about what you said Bianca, I don't know how it happened, but I think I like Lennox a little more than normal. Feel my heart" she got out, grabbing Bianca's hand and placing it against her chest.
"Well, I think you're just a second away from actually getting that heart attack you've been mentioning since you woke up" she rolled her eyes, yanking her hand away.
Sophia fell back on the bed, rolling around in the sheets, throwing her legs until she got the happy itch and excitement under her skin to fade a little. "What do I do now, should I confess to him at the office, or wait for him to make the first move, oh my gosh, this is so gut-twisting" she screamed, biting into her pillow.
"This is really bad. You're hopelessly in love right now, this isn't even the I like him a little, you were going on about. You're like wallowing in love right now".
Sophia sighed contentedly, squashing her cheeks between her palms. "With the way, I'm feeling right now, I'm not even going to bother denying that".
Bianca smiled, sitting beside her. "I'm so happy you're finally in love. Lennox is so freaking perfect, even with his shitty attitude".
Sophia frowned, turning to glare at her. "He doesn't have a shitty attitude"
"Cause love is blind" Bianca finished with a wink.
Sophia pouted. "Whatever, he's changed and that's all that matters."
"Well, my advice is, don't confess first. We don't really know how he feels, so don't jump into a pool of water, that you don't know how deep it goes".
Sophia nodded. "Yes Mom, I hear you".
"You better," she said, then looked serious. "What happened at the party. Tzuyu called to ask If you were ok, cause Ivan is not, and there might be some rumors that he might have assaulted you".
Sophia's mood darkened as the nasty memory resurfaced. "Ivan is bad news. He looked so innocent and sweet that I didn't expect he'd try to do something like that to me, but tried to force himself on me, and come to think of it, what was Lennox doing at the party, cause I'm sure he wasn't invited, anyway, I'm glad that he was there if not, Ivan might have gotten his way".
Bianca stared, her mouth hanging open. "This is so... " She threw her arms around Sophia hugging her tightly. "I'm so sorry best friend, I should have been there to protect you. You had such a horrible night and I was giving you shit this morning" she cried, and Sophia patted her back gently.
"You didn't know, and I'm fine. I wasn't traumatized. Lennox made sure of that" she said smiling again, and Bianca pulled back, wiping her tears...
"I officially love sir Lennox now. Y'all have my blessings to make beautiful babies together" she said through tears and was hugging Sophia again.
*******
Sophia stepped out of the elevator, flipping her air because everything felt fresh and beautiful. The air was great, the workers were extra beautiful, and the mood was electrified. Tzuyu rushed towards her.
"Hey..." She said then did a double-take, her concern fading. "Wow, you look good this morning".
Sophia inhaled the air, then exhaled. "I woke up in an awesome mood that's why".
Tzuyu looked around. "Last night... I mean what happened with Ivan, where did Mr. Lennox take you"...
Sophia paused. "He took me home, and I don't want to talk about Ivan".
Tzuyu nodded. "Of course. Sorry for bringing it up. Sir Lennox was furious this morning, and I'm sure today might be Ivan's last day here. Serves him right tho, cause I didn't peg him for a predator, but he turned... Oh, right, no talking about Ivan" she said when Sophia narrowed her eyes.
"Sir Lennox is waiting for you in the office".
"Really?" She asked, excitedly and Tzuyu stared at her weirdly before nodding.
Sophia smiled, turned, and hurried towards his office. Sophia adjusted her hair, checked to see if she looked perfect, pushed the door open, and stepped in.
Her heart flipped as she stared at the man who'd managed to invade all her thoughts just in a matter of weeks, and just like she thought, he looked breathtaking. His white shirt accented his frame, and he'd left two buttons undone, his hair was styled perfectly making her remember how soft it'd been when she had clutched at it, ruining their perfect symmetry. His full lips drew her attention, making her's tingle in remembrance of the kiss, her gaze trailed up his nose and she wondered how he'd look if he had piercings, definitely more hotter. His dark coal eyes made her breath hitch. He stood up, coming around his desk and making her knee weaken with every step he took. He stopped in front of her, and she stared up at him. His gaze looked troubled and she knew that whatever he was going to say would break her heart.
"The kiss..." He started, staring at her intensely. "It was a mistake. I didn't mean anything by it. I just want us to have a working relationship and nothing more" he said and Sophia clenched her fist, the feeling of rejection hurting more than she thought it would.
