Chapter 29: Chapter 29

"Where the hell did you keep your phone" Sophia yelled into the device, glaring at the object as if that would make the person on the end feel her wrath.

"Can you stop screaming? I'm working, which I assumed you'd be doing since you said you'd be coming back to work today, but you didn't and Lennox is here"

"Of course, he's there. The talk was a disaster" she said then facepalm.

"He didn't give you your job back," she asked surprised. "I thought you had it all under control".

Sophia seethed. "That is not it. I got my freaking job back, but then I had to open my big mouth and offered to cook for him, which I didn't expect him to accept, but then he did and my house might have been a mess when he came in and I might have fallen and my bra might have flown out of my hand and landed on his face and then the said breakfast was rescheduled for dinner cause of an emergency and now i'm freaking out because I'm freaking out".

"Calm down girl, that is a lot of might, so you might want to be more specific... Ops, I think your might rubbed off on me".

Sophia groaned. "Bianca this is not meant to be a funny situation, so can you help me. Please".

"Just cook the dinner, what are you even worried about".

"Aside from the fucking embarrassment of the year, what if he thinks dinner is supposed to lead to other things... You know, like".

Sophia heard Bianca give an exasperated sigh.

"Oh my goodness you're hopeless. It's all in your head. I'm sure Lennox doesn't even like you in that way. That man is just talking about dinner and here you are thinking about" she lowered her voice. "Sex".

"What! I'm not thinking of that." She gasped out. "That's just ridiculous... I just thought he might get ideas because".

"You're making me cringe here Sophia, just let it go because you and I know that you're spiraling down the hill into an ocean of love for that guy, and you just haven't realized it yet. You're the one that's going to get clingy if you can't separate your feelings from intruding into your work life. I get it, Mr. Lennox is too sexy for his good, hence why you can't help being attracted..."

"I'll have to stop you right there because your theory is all wrong. I'm doing all these to get my revenge once my contract is up".

"Of course you are, and I just happen to have three boobs".

"Talking to you is like talking to a brick wall".

Bianca chuckled. "Truth hurts sweetie, so when you start being honest with yourself, then I'll tell you to go for it. Get Mr. Lennox to sleepover".

Sophia froze. "Why will I do that".

"Oh, I don't know, maybe because you might want to get naughty, naughty with the beast" she chirped and Sophia rolled her eyes.

"Why do I even bother with you," Sophia said, then remembered the deal she'd made with Lennox. "Oh, I forgot to mention. The competition is off".

There was a pause. "What! Don't mess with me right now".

"I'm dead serious. He said it himself and I believe him, but I'm not sure he's going to make a public announcement, so this is just between you and me".

Bianca squealed before she muffled the sound. "Oh my gosh. This is like the best news ever... I'm freaking out right now. Lennox must really like you to consider calling off the competition... You're the best, girlfriend".

Sophia scrunched her face, wondering how Bianca figured out it was because of her. "I'm not even going to ask how you came to that conclusion".

"Maybe I'm a bit psychic. And can you not tell Sana and Andria about this... I'll like them to keep working while I get to slack off" she said in a light voice.

I chuckled. "You're evil".

"Don't care since I still sleep happily at night, plus that Andria deserves some gray hair for her shitty attitude. I hope they make only two percent of the sales or is that too much".

"You're too much," Sophia said shaking her head.

Bianca scoffed. "I'm not. Let's talk later. My horrible boss is heading in my direction and he might or might not be wearing heels, cause his shoes are making a hell of a racket".

Sophia laughed, ending the call before squaring her shoulders and exhaling. "Ok, let's do this".

******

Andria sighed as she rubbed at her temple while trying to read the report on what they had sold so far. The figure was depressing even tho she'd almost broken her back from researching and developing strategies that could help increase their figures, but it was all for nothing and her head was starting to hurt from the building frustration.

Jonathan leaned over her shoulder, his brows drawing together as he stared at the figure.

"We just increased our sales by eight percent, how is that even possible," he said and Andria's gaze snapped to his causing him to drawback.

Andria's eyes flashed before she took a deep breath. "I don't understand either, I've been doing all I can to motivate the team members and we've done all our best to change our designs..."

"But that hasn't happened yet. You should have implemented it while we had enough time. There's only a week left to the deadline" he said, pushing his fingers through his hair in frustration.

Andria clenched her fist. "Why should I be the one to talk to them. You're the one they look up to, while I'm just an assistant. You haven't done anything to motivate them all this time so of course, they're lethargic. Our monthly team dinners haven't been observed in a while, and we're all under pressure... Do you think I'm not bothered by this? I'll lose my job if I fail at this" she got out, her voice thickening with emotion while her eyes reddened. "I'm so frustrated and you're not making it any easier Jonathan".

Jonathan frowned, stepping closer to her. "Hey, that's enough" he consoled softly. "I didn't mean to shout at you, but it's not like I've been sitting in my office and having fun. You are my assistant, you know how busy I am".

"At least you're finally clear about what I am to you" she muttered bitterly, but Jonathan picked up on it.

"I didn't mean it in that way and why are you being like this... I was ready to define our relationship, I was going to tell everyone about us but you said not to" he said, his temper also rising.

"Don't use that to your defense, if you really meant it, you'd have done it regardless to show me how serious you were. You took the easy way out because you never planned to push through with it".

"How can you say that... I thought you knew me better than anyone and now you're calling me a two-faced liar, or maybe you're just projecting what you're really feeling onto me".

Andria scoffed walking away from him.

"Let's just break up"

Andria jerked to face him, her fingers clutching into the files she held. She stared at him, her throat working

"Fine, let's do that. This relationship was doomed from the start anyway" she got out, her chin raised in deviance. "I'll plan for the team dinner so try to be present Mr. Jonathan. I have to get back to work".

"You don't need to report that to me," he said, his voice raspy. "I'm leaving to go meet some clients anyways, so I guess this is where this end".

"Yes. I'll handle everything" Andria said, and Jonathan strode out his eyes red-rimmed and his hands jammed into his pants.

Andria exhaled, crumbling to the floor, as what had transpired in a matter of minutes definitely destroyed their relationship. She covered her eyes as she sobbed, wondering why It was that she had to destroy every good thing in her life.
